  • God i love Lord Flasheart.

  • I like the way blackadder is swearing all the time. Where normal people use one or two words he instantaneously spits out half a book.

But I wonder if the brits really think that germans are like in this sketch. Of course it is exaggerated for comedic effect but still a bit weird though.

  • @BugMagnet

Nah, of course not. Or at least the English don't anyway (although one Scotsman is mentioned at the beginning). This is one of the few times in Blackadder where we DO actually see the Germans. All the characters are caricatures, Blackadder is a cynical bastard, George is amazingly naive, Baldrick's an idiot, Melchett is insane, Darling is practically a manservant and Flashheart is a personification of the stereotypical WW1 English RAF pilot.

  • "Can I have a weeks leave, sir?"

    "Certainly not, baaaaaa"

  • I like the little musical cue that plays every time the Baron walks in xD

  • "What a puff!" haha best line ever

  • And then he went on to cure Lupus

  • XD flashheart is awesome

  • This is probably my most favourite Blackadder episode!

  • Flasheart and Melchett are best characters I've ever seen!

"Now then, now thne, then now, nowthen, thenow!!!"

  • 11:39-12:45 is pure gold, love how flash heart headbuts darling (percy in series 2 i think)

  • Classic Rik and Ade at the end there.

  • Thanks for posting this excellent episode of Black Adder. It is great to see all those comedy greats in one episode. :)

  • baaah

  • Bobby! I want something.

    Take it!

  • "for us, it is a mundane and functional object, for you, it us the basis of an entire culture" Haha. Classic.

  • Viviann and Rick from the Young Ones!! Brilliant!

  • It is very interesting to see how the british esteem us germans - I wonder if they know, how we see them?

  • @11Kralle How do you see us?

  • @musicbruv

Somewhat different after `Blackadder goes fo(u)rth´ of course! Since I am a north-german guy, I have a closer relation to the british as other germans - AND as a historian my knowledge about the past is also not typical `german´! I could say `brits are those, who had that same inheritated despise for the french´ OR `they are that kingdom with many german regents´ - OK: I see You mostly as genuine funny lads, who won´t ever understand US because you already did, haha!!!

  • @11Kralle Deutschland verdiente England 4-1 schlagen. Auch wenn Lampards Schuss über die Torlinie war, wir noch sehr schlechte waren!

Ich habe nicht ein Übersetzer benutzt, aber mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut. Ich bin nur ein Anfänger!

  • @1984ekul

The best way to get a good feel for german is to listen constantly to it - thats why I listen to soo much english as I can! Btw. I am very relieved, that I have not to learn german myself - it is a chaotic and artificially developed `tongue´, that allows a lot of freedom in grammar, but it needs an incredibile amount of accuracy to sound right (only a few germans speak good german, I dont even know if I do). Deine Rechtschreibung ist sehr gut, Dein Satzbau is englisch:)

  • @11Kralle You are correct about the French, us Brits dont like them much....or the yanks, and we are Germanic ourselves as we are Anglo Saxons, our Queen is part German so I guess we are all ralated, its a shame about the 2 wars we had and the football. LOL

  • @musicbruv

Just think about the hundreds of wars, we´ve been together;)

About football: I would say the mere fact that it is `genuine´ british should be a comfort for whatsover! Personally, I like the european martial arts most, which were the traditional the stronghold of germany...

    btw. sorry for my denglish

  • @11Kralle Sorry for my English I have just noticed I spelt "related" wrong, you have not made any mistakes in spelling, how embarrassing for me! :-)

  • @musicbruv

    I wrote `whatsover´ instead of `whatsoever´, haha!

  • @11Kralle LOL more embarrassment, a German spotting a mistake in English that I did not, I have had too many real ales and Blackadder. ;-))

  • @musicbruv

One has a repetition to loose (as Gerrrrman)!

    Gute Nacht.

  • @11Kralle Actually this dosen't really show how we think of germans, the character is really mocking how germans are portrayed in some of the really bad war films, so really we're mocking ourselves, Its somthing we english do alot.

    :)

  • @iglybo

Typical, haha! I think the blackadder-show gives a good picture of the pre-fascist-german (the hun...), which was given by the newspapers back than. Knowing about the SS, Stalingrad a.s.o. makes it somewhat predictable, but I find that special `german´ touch really nice! It is quite entertaining and I would like to see a german tv-pendant to this - we even got enough funny people for such a show, but they stand no chance against the mainstream. So, Blackadder is my top-comedy!!

  • WHAT A PUFF!!!!

  • Rik Mayall

  • well you are my commanding officer

    well?

can i have a weeks leave to recuperate, sir

    most certainly not

    thank you sir

    Meep

  • Flashheart is the greatest comedy character ever created!

not overused, perfectly over-dramatic, and the best metaphors in history!

  • Now then, now then, now then, now, now then, now, now, then, then now, now then!

  • @pinonoir302 but if the now then was that it was then... then how is it then? than it is for now?

    now then....

  • @pinonoir302

    hahaha...

  • The german word for `fluffy´ is `fluffig´...

  • I love the complete stereotyping of the characters, Von Richthofen even has the Schmiss

  • Einfach geil!

  • Is that Eddie Izzard playing Manfred Von Richtofen

  • @HMSDevere72 Nope. It's Adrian Edmonson.

  • @MrRazorz Thank you

  • Remember, if you want something, take it. Bobbie!

    My lord.

    I want something

    Take it.

    WOOF!

  • "well this isnt a reasonable use of my time and resources but i'm gonna do it anyway"

    "What?"

    "this" *headbuts Darling*

    ahh the comedy of Blackadder

  • We need a Lord Flashheart game. Make it like Duke Nukem, only playable.

    Also *applies false 'tache* BEAAAAAAAAAAAARP!

  • I want to bear Lord Flashheart's mustachioed children.

  • Now, then, now then, now, now, then, now then, now then,

then now, now, now then. What's going on here?

  • Flasheart is a badass! xD

  • If you want something, take it! :D

  • luv ade & rik together

  • Mehh!

  • 'Well this isn't a reasonable use of my time and resources but I'm going to do it anyway!'

    'What?'

  • What the Baron say to the little man at 8:07?

  • @pinonoir302 "If you get lonely in the night I'm in the old château, there's no pressure."

  • @Hoboman667

    Thank you very much sir!

    poor Baldrick.

  • @Hoboman667 Gay

  • HOW AMUSING!!!

  • Pop Quiz!: how many times this poor Baldrick beaten up?t?

  • Richy shot Eddie!

  • 5:26 NO BODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION

  • @onda42

I tottttttaalllly expected the spanish inquisition to pop in with that music.

  • So that's twice now Flashheart's has beaten up Tim McInnerny lol. Here as Captain Darling and before in Blackadder II as Percy.

  • Haha Rik Mayal and Ade Edmondson together in this, awesome :3

  • I would like to state that this comment, unlike pretty much every other comment on YouTube, is not merely a badly-spelled, grammatically-wretched quotation from the clip in question.

I would also like to state that Richard Curtis and Ben Elton are comedy Gods and Rik Mayall was born to be Flashheart!

    Hurray!

    Wardy

  • Now then, then now, now then, then, then, then now.

[pause]Now then, what's all the fuss about?

  • "I-I-I-I-I-IT'S ME!"

  • Aww, George is so sweet, wanting to go rescue his friends..... :)

  • THIS! (doenk)

  • now then now then then now now then then now now then now!?

  • Wow, either they have a new cell or German builders work very fast, 2 minutes (approx) and they've already fixed the wobbly wall.

  • "WHAT A PUFF!"

  • "Original Air Date: 19 October 1989"

WHOA! One day after = my birth. XD

  • "I must now tell you of the full horror of what awaits you"

  • Hahaha

"whats the actual scale of this map darling??"

    "1 to 1 sir"

    Haha :P

  • Baaaaahh...

Nearly died laughing the first time I saw that!

  • Extraordinary seein Mayall and Edmonson in the same scene yet neither of them in their usual roles as sad bachelors or deranged students, though even here one of them shoots the other! XD

  • i dont know why but rowan sounds like charlie sheen at times :P like way he acts too

  • "Actually they're right, this is a doddle, woop, woop, a little wobble there, I'll get the hang of it don't worry. Alright Baldrick, how many rounds have we got? Er...500 sir, cheese and tomatoe for you, rat for me. Tally, Bally ho! watch this sir, ah no Baldrick.

Baldrick will you stop a*ssing about and get back in the cockpit. Hey sir, look I can see a pretty red plane from up. [german chatter] no, watch out it's stood right on our tail. Yes this developing into a very boring situation."

  • "...just because I can give multiple orgasms to the furniture just by sitting on it..."

(Ps I have no idea who you are but thank you for letting me indulge in persistent Blackadder quotation. It's how I pass most of my time! And you are clearly no Edmund Blackadder. He showed reluctance at the prospect of boisterous singing!) x

  • Baldrick is a really good bodyguard, he takes every hit that Blackadder should usually get xP
