However, though he had the right to be ANGRY about the comment, he did NOT have the right to attack her and put her in a coma. My daughter was harassed through t her Middle school and High School years, I had to pull her out of school because of Bullies. @Draconis13013 Doesn't matter. A guy is not supposed to hit a girl -- does not matter what the girl said or text. Now he will be tried as an adult for aggregated assault and 1st-degree attempted murder, and he will get a guilty verdict, and he will received 20 to life. Most likely he will get 30 to 40 years with no possibility of parole for 20. He will go into prison when he is 16, spend most of his life in prison, and be out by 50 or 60.

I feel sorry for the dude having to deal with his older brothers suicide as I have also had to deal with when I was 15.And if a GUY texted me and made fun of his death I would whoop his ass in about two seconds flat!But being it was a FEMALE,I would have probably gave her a piece of my mind and made HER feel bad.But in NO WAY would I have slapped her none the less stomped on her!!

It's a difficult situation. She has my full sympathy and I hope she makes a full recovery. At the same time, it's tough to assess the psychological damage that might resulted from the death of his brother from suicide. From my understanding, she made an inappropriate comment about his brother. I just hope people take that into consideration. Of course, the fact he almost killed her isn't completeljustifiable by any means.
Should he tried as an adult? Absolutely not.

@wallybygolly I'm sorry about any harm that may have come to your daughter, but as a high school student myself I can tell you that that's not the solution. Kids jump each other at my school sometimes, and it's always the same. Kid A beats up Kid B, gets busted, neither go to school. Kid B's friends get back at Kid A's friends. Kid A's posse retaliates, so on and so forth. Violence begets violence. The cycle is broken when measures are take to prevent violence rather than just being a hypocrite
