Wow! First off all this seems like a Commander Shrike, the pilot retracted the landing gear before gaining altitude, and people like me still respond to a to a video from four years ago. How cool!
About 10 years ago, in a drunken stupor on Halloween night i got lost in the desert and wound up on a hughes air terminal runway. Dressed up as a pirate i was nearly run over by a twin engine coming in for a landing. I heard the engines looked up and hit the dirt. To this day i wonder what that pilot was thinking. The police helicopter started looking for me but i hid under an old matress. I don't drink anymore, but i still have that same old pirate costume.
@GarethNIreland Double entendre? Yes that is a pirate 'hello' but it is probably what came out of my mouth when I dove for the dust. That was the worst Halloween in my entire life. For the full storey, look up my Facebook page listed as Jawn Bouy. All stories are posted as photos. The name of the photo album (story) is 'the pirate that went overboard'. Feel free to comment on it on my Facebook page. Truly a horrible night.
Airplaneman, in a single engine plane, your right, wait till the runway is gone and you have altitude before retracting the gear so if you lose the engine its down and its one less thing to worry about. In an twin its "positive rate, gear up!" so if you lost an engine you do not have the drag of the gear to make the situation worse. Granted this guy was showing off a bit but its still fun to watch :o)
He sucks the landing gear up from under the plane as soon as he's airborn. Isn't this dangerous? I've always been taught to keep the airplane on the runway heading, and, or do not retract the gear until you reach at least 500 AGL, but I may be wrong.
hey
yu got scared

You are rong At 500 you can have the suficient airpeed to brouck the landing gear just wen the airplane take of you retract the gears
N6028Y 3 years ago
No. You are "rong!" The correct spelling of "rong" is WRONG. And "wen" is wrong, too! It's WHEN!
