  • eeew HDR alert!

  • @AreaQNH870 nope..filter alert! ;)

  • @pgice Filters over HDR every time. You can't beat the realism and live depiction of a scene that a filter offers. HDR makes everything look false.

    Great video btw. :)

  • Absolutely beautiful, the music goes amazingly with the photography :)

  • @TXX03 Thanks for the great comment..:))

  • Jaw dropping, really! I'm curious though: When you're using the 10-stop ND, do you use any other filters? (other NDs, polarizers, etc) and also, given the exposure length and changing lighting conditions at sunset/sunrise, how do you meter accurately??

  • Oh my gosh I love 2:32

  • Great stuff truly AWESOME.

  • awesome!

  • Hello Jonathan, Love your work! I am hoping to get in to the landscap/seascape side of photography as I love it. Anytips on what filters to get? I know I need a GND Filter and 9/10 stop ND filter but would love to hear from you on what you think would be the best to get?

BTW I live in Perth near the hills.

    Thanks, Zach Liepa

  • Great stuff your work is fantastic

  • @rookstable cheers mate....:))

  • amazing! where were these taken?

  • @lordivanstein Hi, They are all taken around Perth, Western Australia...Cheers

  • You are an artist!

  • @orpheus06 Hey... Thanks for the great comment...:))

  • Please. Can you visit my channel and look at my photography? Please. It would mean a lot to me. If you like my photography, (I make little powerpoints with my pictures in it) please like this comment, so others can find it too.

    Thanks, it means a lot.

  • @LexiRamosPhotography Done..:))... Hey your work is great.. keep up the good work..:))

  • Stunning shots! What type of Nd filter did you use?

  • @corabianu Hey, I use Hitech soft edge ND filters mainly for most of my shots.! .:))

  • Absolutely stunning images. Masterpieces, each and every one of them. I very much enjoyed watching all of these. And the music is perfect with this. My hat off to you, Sir.

  • @alpcns Thank you very much... what a lovely comment, very much appreciated..:)

  • Beautiful photography,,,just ignore the dislike,,,probably the type that would win half of a fifty million dollar jackpot then be miserable for the rest of his life because he didn't win it all.

Anyway your photography is delightful indeed,,,well done and thank you for sharing.

  • @jeanmunn Lol...I bet you're right !!..Thanks for the lovely comment jeanmunn... much appreciated

  • I can stare at these pics for hours, great job! They say Florida has the best sunsets but the Aussie coast blows them away!

It really proves you don't need the most expensive equipment to get priceless shots. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • @morloff Thanks Morloff, I'm sure the Florida sunsets are spectacular also !!..and you are quite right, it's not the equipment, it's mother nature doing her thing, and timing !!. Thanks for the great comment, much appreciated..:)

  • Oh Man.. a disliker ??

  • @R00RAL Ha !!... there's always 1 !!!!

  • @spacecadet1000 nah i reckon som1 with tourettes was watching you video and didn't relise they had a fit/tick and clicked dislike as they were about to click like

  • The work is obviously great. Words don't it justice. Must have taken a lot of preparation, travelling and early mornings and late evenings to get these. Also, do you know you look like the great golfer Ben Crenshaw!

  • fantastic photographs congrat! can i work for u?

  • @2009korte Ha ha... If I ever get that good and need an assistant to carry my ego around I'll give you a call !!!.. Cheers mate.:)

  • Amazing. I love your equipment overview. Basic camera... no limits. You an inspiration.

  • @DJFADERAL Thanks for the great comment.. much appreciated..:)

  • nothing short of breathtaking, its awe-inspiring pictures like this that got me started into photography in the first place. Good Job! your pushing your d90 to its full potential.

  • @kingsknight1980 Thank you for the great comment mate...much appreciated, it's shot's like this that got me started as well !!, what goes around, comes around..Your turn next !!..:))).. and yes, Great little camera the D90 !!.. Cheers..JS

  • @spacecadet1000 I am an experienced landscape photographer and I started with the d90 but I took a different path- I do hdr. The camera is great but i don't want to take away anything from your creative ability to use multiple filters- non photographers dont realize the ingenuity that comes with the territory. I'm not a purist- but in weeks to come I will refine my purist skills!

  • @kingsknight1980 That's great to hear and yes, you are so right... it's the little tweaks and use of filters etc that make the difference, especially HDR, and indeed how we all differ in the final processing that really defines our own creativity... Do you post online ?, like 500px or redbubble ?... be great to view your work..:))

  • I like it

  • @Tennishead39 Hi, Thanks for the comment, I use the f4-5.6 but had it been available when I bought the lens I most certainly would have gone for the F/3.5 version...:))

  • Great job and description...tech details help us to understand your job.

  • @maxrock70 You're welcome, glad you like them..:)

  • I was a bit dubious about getting the sigma 10-20 but although i have not had a chance to get out with it yet your super images have proved to me that its not a duff lens now all i have to do is point it in the right direction:)

  • @trackend Ha.. Great comment mate.. it is a really good lens, I'm sure there are better but I love it !!

  • wish i could take pictures like this ... great photos with good music

  • I've had my D90 for almost a year and I can only pray and hope to be nearly as good as you. Your photos are amazing.

  • @sammywhiteass Wow.. What a great comment Sammy...Thank you very much...the only tip I can really give is dawn and dusk light are the key !!... not daytime shots, use the amazing coloured sky and play with the software's out there...it really is very simple..:)).best of luck and keep trying..!!

  • 2:22 oh my lord that sky!! :O

  • @katingaman haha..As I've said in many editorials.. "sometimes all the elements come together to produce a spectacle of light...these times are rare and not to be missed !!" . I think most definitely this is one of those moments captured..:)

  • Outstanding photography, Jonathan.

  • @martyndigitaleye Thanks for the comment Martyn, much appreciated..:)

  • these photos are absolutely amazing jonothan, i have started taking beach photos, but yours are just so beautiful, great job

  • Do you shoot in Raw?

  • @pbradley08 Hi mate, Yes I do shoot raw and only raw, it means when I process the image, I can tweek all tonal elements individually without effected others as happens with a Jpeg... Cheers JS

  • What music is this may I know? Thanks.

  • @franklhy Hi, I added it to the title as so many people were asking me, it's Ludovico Einaudi - Oltremare, from the Album Devinire.

  • wow so amazine!! my GOD!! is it a good idea to buy the NIKON D7000?

  • @migazl Thanks for the comment, yes, great Camera although I'm waiting for the upcoming D800 for my next move... Thanks again.

  • how do u make the water fuzzy

  • @FinalRustyNails by using ND filters that enable you to slow the shutter speed down to about 1 second or more...

  • @spacecadet1000 thanks mate. as it happens i went on holloday and iv cracked it it took me to days but i managed it

  • Very impressive work mate

  • @rastogiatul Cheers for the great comment, Much appreciated.

  • wow awesome...very nice job.im loving ur photos.i am very new in this line...i have got nikon d7000,18-200mm and 50mm f1.8,cokin circular polariser and cokin gradual natural grey medium nd4...now i m very confused which filter i need to buy next.can u please suggest me which filter i have to buy to soot photos like your this video.thanks for sharing these beautiful photos with us...

  • @rashaboss01 Hi, you have everything you need, now it's just practice but remember, every sunrise and sunset produces different light and it will take time to understand these differences and be able to control the light with your filters to produce the kind of shots you are after. There will be many times you will end up with nothing good but many rewarding results so stick at it...you will be rewarded.!!..:)))

  • @spacecadet1000 thanks for your quick reply,,,from today i will start practising,,,your photos really encouraged me a lot...thanks

  • wow nice shots Jonathan Stacey

    well done ;)

  • wow niche shots Jonathan Stacey

    well done ;)

  • at 1.08, waves hitting rock, this photo taken using high shutter speed?

  • it's breathtaking.

  • Perfect Jonathan, six and a half minutes of my time well spent. Great stuff. You've sold me on the HiTech too, was saving to buy Lee, not anymore.

  • @TheJakeofuk Hi Jake, Thanks for the glowing words, much appreciated, with regard to the Hi-Techs, I feel they are superb although stacking (ie a ND + a .9 and .6 soft grad for example, does still give a slightly purple colourcast single use does not, don't know about lee with this issue but I definitely know that Cokin does have colourcast issues, even with single use.

  • Wonderful~

  • 1:24 is my favorite picture, breath-taking!!! such a beautiful shot, thanks for sharing. (awesome lens btw)

  • O_O im so mesmerize of all your pictures! great job! it motivates me to take more pictures! Thanks!

  • Am-ma-zing photos!! it's incredible (and hard to believe) that there is not much post processing in them.

Say, are you using some sort of Gold'n'Blue polariser in some of the photos?

Also how do you find Hitech in terms of quality ? I am torn between them or saving for Lee filters, but to be honest I'm having hard time justifying to pay mad money for Lee's or SinghRay's. Now that I saw yours photos I am leaning towards Hitech! ;-)

Which holder are you using? Thanks very much!

  • @vadimggg Hi, Thanks for the great comment, check out my other video "photographic Enhancements" which shows more clearly what I do to most images, mainly I add more vibrance, not saturation to the image...but it depends. I use a multicoated polariser from Heliopan, not a coloured one and I most definitely would use Hitech, I have the lee holder and the system works perfectly, yes lee is better but a lot more expensive, hitech, also do the reverse ND grad, perfect for straight horizon sunsets.

  • @vadimggg Thanks for the great comment, please watch my Lightroom workflow Video which shows exactly how much processing is used on a selection of images, with regard to the Hi-Techs, I feel they are superb although stacking (ie a ND + a .9 and .6 soft grad for example, does still give a slightly purple colourcast single use does not, don't know about lee with this issue but I definitely know that Cokin does have colourcast issues, even with single use...hope that helps !!

  • Great images, well done!

  • @ozbandit Thanks ozbandit...much appreciated.

  • Extraordinary collection of gorgeous landscape images, Jonathan. Very inspiring, and you've demonstrated how one needs to be conscious of not getting caught up in the seductive side of digital technology offerings these days, including that of the availability of vast numbers of different lenses. With your D90 and Sigma wide angle you've nailed some beauties.

  • @Meshwork123 Thank you Meshwork123, I think I have a long way to go before I will benefit from better technology..,The d90 and any mid range DSLR these days are amazing cameras and easily good enough for an enthusiast like me...... It's not what you've got...it's how you use it !!!

  • omg. I have a D90. I should go out to the beach more T_T. Lovely work.

  • @Russz0rz Thanks Russ..much appreciated..:)

  • @spacecadet1000 Do you do a lot of post-production?

I don't have much time to go to the beach during the hours needed to get a long shutter speed.

  • @Russz0rz Hi Russ, Well...I'd have to say yes, have you seen my other video...Photographic enhancements..I guess it's the easiest way for me to show how I change my images !!..

  • @spacecadet1000 Thanks, I'll take a look!

  • Amazing shoots.. Keep up the good work :)

Can you please tell me what filters do you use..

  • @brda1986 Thanks for the great comment..:)), I use Hitech filters, really good value (couldn't afford the Lee !!)

  • I had to watch this twice, once for the photography and once for the music. Both were so amazing!

  • @cloudy11rainbow Thank you Cloudy..:)

  • the Sigma 10-20mm work in D90 ??? !!!

  • @hishamelrefaie All these shots were taken with my Sigma 10-20mm....It's the perfect combination..:))

  • i just bought this camera and seeing this video made me even more happy to have gotten it. thanks a lot for the awesome photos!!!

  • @migazl Thanks Migazi....It's a great little camera, I won't be changing for a long time, I can achieve exactly the shot I'm after with the D90..why change ??

  • oh my dog . congratulations. you are a very inspiring photographer my friend. now i know where i'm heading this weekend. quite rocky shores we have here in west-ireland :-) well done again nice one

  • How Magnificent. I am a chaser of sunrises and sets with my nikon d40x, but on the other side of Australia in Port Macquarie. I obviously now will HAVE to get a wide angle lens to improve my work. thanks Brenda S

  • Amazing Photos ... I myself am a member of Redbubble "ricksphotos"

    Very nice Photographs, well done.

  • this is all the evidence that good photography is in knowledge and not gear. A decent midlevel DSLR, some choice lenses, and a ton of practice.

    Well done.

  • Wow great work loved the photos, keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing some more of your photos.

  • What's the music here.??..great pics..

  • @smujiodome LUDOVICO EINAUDI it's an italian compositor. the song is OLTREMARE

  • @andreamasty Thank you,I already have some his work.....since I contacted you I got the La Scala album....This music is amazing...Just when I thought I'd heard it all too...Thank you so much..

  • Phenomenal work! Absolutley stunning images

  • These are the most fantastic photographs I have ever seen.

  • @taneli2288 Thank you so much for this lovely compliment....I'm so glad you like my photos...:))

  • these are really amazing shots.. wonderful job.

  • @kuttybiscuit Thanks for the great comment, much appreciated..:))

  • Those pictures are amazing! I have Canon t2i/550d, can I take pictures like yours?

i have another question. how to make pictures and details look sharp? i take pictures but the details in the pictures don't look as good as pictures i see on the internet!

  • @ibrahimalghamdi94 Hi, Yes of cause you can take pictures like mine, I have only been doing photography for about 1 1/2 years so if I can do it anyone can !!. All I can say is you need to practice and understand your camera, All photographic software will help you to tweek your images and get the results you want...it all personal, try joining a website like redbubble which I am on, it's a great place to get ideas and pick up tips !!...Come and join in !!

  • @spacecadet1000 Thanks for your advice. I checked the website and registered in it. it is great!

  • Thanks alot Jonathan you helped me alot :)

  • @WilliamTsengsta You're welcome Will..I hope it works for you..best of luck...J

  • Ok so I get the 100x125 instead of the 100x150?

  • @WilliamTsengsta Hi Will, I have the 100 x 125 and they work fine, the 100 is the width for the frame so thats the important part, the 125 is the length to enable you to slide the filter higher or lower to compose the shot, 125 works perfectly for me with my 77mm adapter on my sigma 10-20mm...i'd go for that..Cheers, J

  • So Jonathan I bought the 77mm adaptor ring and Lee Foundation Kit and I should get the soft edge set of 3 100x125?

I was also wondering do you stack the ND 10 stops with the Grads?

  • @WilliamTsengsta the set of 3 100 x 125 yes. I have a screw on 10 stop ND which is very awkward to use with the filters, the best (but expensive £80) way to do this is to buy the lee big stopper which means you can set up the shot and the soft grads and then slide in the 10 stop, I just use the 10 stop on its own...hope that helps..: J

  • @WilliamTsengsta ...That's exactly correct Will, Lee/hitech use a frame with a screw on adapter, so as long as your screw on filters have a thread on the front, all you need to do is buy the correct adapter for the lee frame, then you can slide in the hitech filters (don't get cokin, terrible colourcast), I would suggest the soft ND grad filters, they blend much better and the reverse ND is great for sunsets, I found the best place was teamwork digital, great prices and good advice...Cheers JS

  • One word... picturesque! ok I lied , more words to add...I wish I have those gadgets you have and Lightroom program... I still use my iPhoto for any adjustments... good job bro!

  • One word... picturesque! I wish I have those gadgets you have and Lightroom program... I still use my iPhoto for any adjustments... good job bro!

  • One word... picturesque! I wish I have those gadgets you have and Lightroom program... I still use my iPhoto for any adjustments... good job bro!

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!! wow wow wow..

You have captured the breathless and rugged beauty of our Australian coastline so beautifully. Simply amazing...I watched your video with my jaw dropped to the ground...your images remind me just how much of an amateur I really still am! lol

  • those pictures are extremly photoshopped.....

  • @sir240s I suggest you watch my lightroom enhancement video to see the before and after before you judge just how much these images are photoshopped, by the way, I don't use photoshop, please read the description fully before commenting

  • @spacecadet1000 Sorry i kinda underestemated you, these photos are unbelavble beutyfal :) i just lernd how to do this :)

  • Hi Jonathan I have a few more queries

Right now I use a Pentax K-x and 12-24mm Wide Angle

I own two filters one a LCW 9-12 stop filter and a Hoya Polarising filter which creates vingeniting.

I'm guessing that my 9-12 stop would be alike to your 10 stop and my polariser to yours.

So basically I only need a set of Hitech ND Grads and Reverse ND filters because I can already stack them with my LCW filter right?

Im not too good around Cokin/Lee/Hitech filters so please help out!

    Thanks Will.

  • Absolutely wonderful!

  • @Druantia6 Thanks...:))

  • Seriously Jonathon you have inspired me so much I have watched this video so many times yet it is still wonderful and gives me chills so you shoot raw? how long are your exposures and do you just use lightroom or any other program?

I would do what ever it takes to get photos even close to that honestly great work.

  • @WilliamTsengsta Hi William, Yes I shoot Raw and yes, all my processing is done with Adobe Lightroom, I have found that to get the water exactly how I want it to look, my exposures are generally around 1 - 2 seconds, any shorter and the water looks frozen, any longer and the water looks like milky snow.

My advise would be to watch lots of online tutorials about lightroom and learn that first, that's what I did... I've only been photographing for 1 year so believe me...it's not that hard !!

  • Wow!! Stunning pics. As someone else said, these are the BEST I've seen. I have a D90 as well, but it doesn't take nearly the same pics as yours!! If I were MrCJ1988 I'd certainly meet up for the shoot!! In fact, if you're offering, I'm sure I can manage a trip to Perth at some stage!!

Thanks for sharing... I've watched the Seascape vids several times over already

  • @Leong72 Thanks for the great comments...just watch my latest slideshow to see the actual shot taken with the D90 and the transition to the finished edit using lightroom....anyone can do this !!...honestly..:))

  • @Leong72 So glad you're enjoying it and thank you for the kind words..:)

  • Stunning work.

  • Wow honestly you inspire me to a huge extent I was so inspired and ths is the reason I live photography so much, people like you who take photos unimaginable.Great photos every single one keep doing what your doing honestly inspired me..

  • Jonathan your work is stunning and your photos are an inspiration to me. Keep up the fantastic photography :)

  • i've been living in Perth for 4 years and had my nikon d90 for almost 2 years now, i cant find places like these :( i've pent ages to find beaches around here with little rocks like that but no luck.. great photos btw

  • MrCJ1988...Just email me and I'll tell you where they are, better still, I'll meet you one evening for a shoot..:))..go to redbubble com and search for Jonathan Stacey..:))

  • @spacecadet1000 why is there very little legends in this world like you? I am checking the website right now.

  • Mostly great pictures, but some of them had to high color saturations and/or were a little to bright. But all in all the pictures are beautifull. Btw: Great choice of music!

  • hey!! do you use glass or resine filter?? hard or soft grad?? do you use 0. 6 or 0.9 reverse grad in most of the time? what are the filter which you use the more?

Congratulations for your work!! it's so perfect. i'd like to make so beautiful pictures..

    Good continuation.. bye

  • @seb09100 Hi, I use Hitech Resin Filters, mainly the 0.9 soft ND grad but mainly the Hitech 0.9 Reverse ND Grad, perfect for sunsets and dawn shots..Thanks for the question...JS

  • Great images.

  • were you using the ND1000x filter

  • @SunsetCali : For a few of the shots yes, mainly the minimalist mono shots....great filter..:)

  • These are probably some of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen in my life (and I've seen quite a lot).

Love the way in which the interesting foreground is combined with the beautiful light of the dawn.

Can't wait to get to Australia this summer (or winter/spring from your perspective ;-)).

I'll probably have to bring all my stuff with me now (ND Grad, regular NDs and Polarizer).

What's the name of the Song?

    Greetings from Germany,

    Hannes

  • found the name of the song in your description

  • Stunning work....well done
