This was a perfect song for that scene in WEEDS. I love the soundtrack they use in their episodes, always so fresh and fitting to the emotions which should be felt.
It isn't a matter of dumb versus smart. If it were that simple it wouldn't be called addiction... it would be called a "pass time" or a "hobby," something less verbally caustic. "What does it feel like," "Why do you do it," "If it's so bad why don't you stop," all questions that when asked are evidence enough that the answer would be lost on the person asking.
@randallo1387 i feel you on that statement more than 100. if you do pills than u know exactly what he's talking about. Everytime someone asks me in a stupid tone of voice "what does it feel like" or "Why do you do that" i tell them to listen to keepsake by state radio.
by "one" he is referring to a "keepsake" and i think its funny how lopside said he wouldnt be suprised if he didnt know...whats the name of the song people???LOL
I looked up the lyrics... it appears they intend for the song to be about suicide. A slavish (and very indie) devotion the 'iceberg principal' keeps the story from really making too much sense. The speaker seems to be arranging keepsakes, cataloging his/her life, prior to hanging himself with a belt. I don't know about the "Im gonna hold a pen while you drag my arm across the page" lyric. I don't really care that much, but if you've got a better reading, I'll hear it.
I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't know. Not to diminish the authentic beauty of this song, I've found that Americans of this generation mostly lack the attention span to create really meaningful lyrics. It's especially true in the indie scene.
This is an amazing song... Its so relaxing and well put together....
I heard this song when I was watching nancy burn down her house on weeds, and I was like "woah, whats that song in the background??" I looked it up, and I was so happy when I finally found it. This is one of my favorate songs...
i just started workin at a nursing home and the second night there after meeting a few of the sweethearts that live there i herd this song for the 1st time, really touched me beautiful song
I heard this during Weeds and could have sworn it was Eddie Vedder singing. Not a bad voice to take after. I'll have to check out more! Any suggestions for similar material?
i've seen them like 500 times and they played this song for me on my birthday.. there like pretty good friends of mine(: they are absolutly amazing, and great people. i love them. if you ever get the chance meet them, you wont regret it..

and the band "the beautiful girls" is pretty similar to state radio and makes beautiful music ;-)
