Elenin was too faint to be seen with the naked eye back in March. If it hadn't broken up it would have possibly reached by Oct magnitude 6 which is still very faint. Way fainter than this bright light in the sky.
next time you see it, check flight schedules and radar

this is an aircaft in the sun with the contrail magnified by the atmosphere and the angle of the curvature of the sky makes it look as though its stationery ...its nothing more than that and our team often watch these trails..

Hi "Sangstar"...The fact that you have seen this two nights in a row only confirms that it is a Jet at high altitude, secondly if you look closely at the contrial one can see how the ice crystals are actually circling in an eddy current as the Jet moves forward and as the air slowly moves the circling enlarges, also at one point the Jet actually begins to navigate to the left of its path. Because the Sun is below the horizon only emphasizes the contrast of light reflecting off the vapour trail.
Just thought I would let you know that I saw this at exactly the same time, so I think we can rule out contrails or chemtrails. I am situated 140km NW of Melbourne and would not be able to see a jet contrail that is over Melbourne at the same time. I was actually watching it head in a westerly direction at the time, so moving away from the direction of Melbourne.

@MrWutangkilla1 And of course what is adding to this is the "fiery" appearance of the vapour trail, during the last week the CFA have been doing controlled burns causing heavy pollution in the atmosphere which is being picked up perfectly by the camrea but at the same time making the Contrail look like a fiery tail!...what doesn't help is the cameras zoom, at some point the camera "Digital Zoom" comes into play thereby degrading picture quality, in this recent footage you can make out the wings!

this is an aircaft in the sun with the contrail magnified by the atmosphere and the angle of the curvature of the sky makes it look as though its stationery ...its nothing more than that and our team often watch these trails..

@SlightyDisturbedNBK i think one of the weirdest parts of the whole thing is that it divides in 2 and the original area rmains bright with that ring sorta deal. plus it gradually gains speed as it falls. Freakin wierd o.O ive been seeing these types of phenomenon ALL over the web...

I instantly knew what this was having seen events like this before. Your seeing a rocket launch and the resulting contrail from an Ariane 5 rocket launched from French Guiana.
Search "launch march 30 2011" in Google for a press release.

its venus, i taped the sme thing. it is just ahead of th sun and in the planetary plane. i is at 3oclock nd we are at 6. its apparent magnitude can be above -.4, which mkes it just visible at sunrise

Hi "Sangstar"...The fact that you have seen this two nights in a row only confirms that it is a Jet at high altitude, secondly if you look closely at the contrial one can see how the ice crystals are actually circling in an eddy current as the Jet moves forward and as the air slowly moves the circling enlarges, also at one point the Jet actually begins to navigate to the left of its path. Because the Sun is below the horizon only emphasizes the contrast of light reflecting off the vapour trail.

Just thought I would let you know that I saw this at exactly the same time, so I think we can rule out contrails or chemtrails. I am situated 140km NW of Melbourne and would not be able to see a jet contrail that is over Melbourne at the same time. I was actually watching it head in a westerly direction at the time, so moving away from the direction of Melbourne.

@MrWutangkilla1 Agree...I've just had a look at this video; it is simply the Contrial of a high altitude Jet flying west, there is nothing special going on here. Visit Wikipedia about Contrails for a better understanding of this phenomenon which happens all the time. Cheers Clint – Dandenong

@MrWutangkilla1 And of course what is adding to this is the "fiery" appearance of the vapour trail, during the last week the CFA have been doing controlled burns causing heavy pollution in the atmosphere which is being picked up perfectly by the camrea but at the same time making the Contrail look like a fiery tail!...what doesn't help is the cameras zoom, at some point the camera "Digital Zoom" comes into play thereby degrading picture quality, in this recent footage you can make out the wings!
