  • I love this song. Brutal and Brooding. I'm new to metal. I've been into Opeth for about a year now and I'm finding Mastodon's earlier stuff sufficiently interesting.

  • @machinations7 Try out Tool, Red Fang and Melvins. Some great bands, old and new, to get you going :)

  • BRUTAL ass! roaring riffs, sick lyrics!

  • I still can't believe there are people who can't accept that this band changes their sound every album. Their constantly shifting exploration of styles defines them in the same way a particular style would define any other band. Their name may come from the Ice Age, but they are ever-evolving.

  • @AeonsOfFrost The thing is, imo 90% of bands that DO change their styles end up sounding really crappy or mainstream-like, but Mastodon is part of the 10% they are still awesome

  • not even high and i feel like im trippin

  • I hate when people complain about artists leaving their roots and exploring. I mean on some bands its great because it shows that they can truly achieve more complex areas in music, but some bands just self destruct. It's a dangerous and risky decision.

  • @thcdreams654 Ugh... so sick of this conversation. Mastodon have always and probably always will make brilliant music. They're just exploring different areas of their own musical ability

  • @TheLastBaron16 What I find strangest is how he/she seems to believe (with his/her references to loyalty) that Mastodon owe something to people who dislike their recent output somehow.

  • @TheLastBaron16 Remission, Leviathan, and Call of the Mastodon are star wars episode 4,5,6. Crack the sky is episode 1 and hunter is episode 2. No matter how much we want it, we can never have more of the original trilogy.

  • @thcdreams654 Dude you know why your screaming sell out. I do its because you don't like it and just because you don't like it their insta sell out Man fuck you and other people who think that way i swear it must suck to be in a band with with bitchy ass fans like you. Now i can understand if you don't like it because that's all just opinion. But sell out.... really dude they can't make different sounding music because that makes them sell outs......SMH

  • @thcdreams654 It's always the same story ... anytime any band does something that doesn't sound EXACLY like the stuff they did before, guys like you will pop up and tell us it's garbage.

  • @thcdreams654 Guess what! Their old music still exists! WOW!

  • @thcdreams654 Your view is vulgar and boring. You lack the capacity to understand "going soft" or "selling out", let alone the legitimacy to associate it to Mastodon. Any band can either force themselves to repeatedly do more of the same just to make everybody happy (but themselves) and to keep their fanbase secured, or continue to show what their real creative interest is inspite of the risks. If you grasped this, maybe you'd understand "selling out", and that it is YOU "betraying" the band!

  • @thcdreams654 fuck sakes..."they went soft"...no,they explored annd opened their minds,to new music and style, everything from call of the mastodon to the hunter is amazing...youd think with a user name like thcdreams you would get that

  • @thcdreams654 gtfo here if ur just gona hate on them

  • The beginning makes me shiver. The guitar is so dissonant it gives you this feeling that you are witnessing very old. Something ancient and full of despair.

  • @h3adcrabbio

    O r'lyeh?

  • BLACK LIKE RAVEN

  • found out about these guys from a sticker on a gas pump. haven't stopped pumping gas ever since.

  • to make a song with a title about an extinct marine creature, very intelligent guess thats why leviathan was intelligent songs about Moby Dick

  • @trustjab The are rednecks but they are smarter than most of the people you know. So ya, how does that feel?

  • @trustjab maybe you should make your statements more clear

  • THIS IS THAT SONG FROM VIVA LA BAM, THAT PLAYS WHEN THEYRE HALF ASLEEP, OR HUNGOVER

  • I was on the verge of tears listening to this. So calm yet strong with grabbing riffs, take you mind away. As if you are and snt fly in the air on the fringes of reality.

I can't get it out of my head. MASTODON

  • I love this! Brutal in heavy/sludgy kind of way!

  • Brent's guitar work on this song is gorgeous.

  • BEST mastodon song, so amazing!!!

  • I'm a biology student and I looked up trilobites. This is what I found. Intense O_O

  • @booksandvideos welcome to the revolution

  • @booksandvideos ahaha that's fucking hilarious.

  • @booksandvideos tell me about it. a couple years ago i looked up moby dick, and found their album Leviathan. been hooked ever since

  • @matrox999 Such a weird coincidence how in my English class this past school year, we're reading Moby Dick, and then, for unknown reasons, I wanted to look up some Mastodon again. Found out they released Crack the Skye 2 years ago, and then went to look up their discography...my interest in that book peaked.

  • @booksandvideos damn right son

  • @booksandvideos This whole album is beyond incredible

  • @booksandvideos its like prestoric bug isnt it?

  • @thisisgriffin Well, not exacty, but insects and trilobites are both arthropods along with scorpions, crabs, etc. There are many, many diverse types of trilobites that can be found as fossils. They came in all sizes from less than a inch to a couple feet across. They are quite cool looking. All trilobites are extinct as far as we know.

  • @booksandvideos if you ever had to make i presentation on trilobites i hope you used this as your background music :P
