  • @MrPCGamer2011 I love that episode too. By the way, Harper's wife is called Ramona not Ronda :P

  • Great Sharp series. Hello from Azerbaijan !!!

  • My Fav Sharpe Ep is when Harper Marrys Ronda. "Farther Am i Going to Die." "Yes Harper" "Then i want to mary ronda" NEC MINNIT "farther i thought you said i was goning to die" "Well YEs Were All Going To Die On Day"

  • Binbaşı Sharp in Turkey.. nice series

  • 95th are Skirmishers haha all be damn. Guerilla warfare kinda in open field is how they are suppose to be used. They had rifles designed better than usa at the time, it beat the Brown Bass musket (not going to explain this). During this time usa was doing its own thing probably.

The Royal family sent them to Gibraltar through Spain? Ya... depending on the fighting in that terrain, skirmishers might of been a good choice for that. If this was all near Madrid (capital) I think.

  • for every british soldier to lay down their lives...no matter what war, era or age. respect. you made me who i am :) for my grandad his grandad and those before him. a untied england and britain

  • @untillambsarelions I wouldnt be so easy to congratulate them the british army has done alot of evil in its time, then again it was prbly the commanders and not the soldiers themselves but still...

  • RIP Pete(Obadiah)

  • Congrats on a great tribute

  • If world war braks out again all your know about it is the sun rising early ....

  • @TheObihalf Just the other day I saw some guys on Youtube, biting pouring spitting and tapping. Maybe they made their own cartridges? I think they are Australian re enacters. I don't have the link right now. But they got at least 3 rounds a minute off. I'm really interested in people who have experience - I've never fired a musket - (or indeed a Baker rifle) I'd really love to have a go. Before I post this, of course the most important question Sharpe asks is "Can you stand?"

  • @johnnybriggs118 I saw that too, and they made it clear that is was made up cartridges with plain paper, no glue as close to what Sharpe would have had, and they did damn good and these guys are weekend players. I believe it was done, and it is a proper and true reenactment.

  • i have this on mp3 and i love it. being from the east coast of canada this style of music is very simular to the tunes we have here.. and I wentas a teenager and read all of the sharpe books. and i'm collecting all the dvd series of the show too.

  • i think of this tune sometimes when im running and training. i just hope i succeed in joining the army. to join my forefathers

  • been a fan of Sharpe since i was a kid, awesome series, this and also Hornblower loved that too

  • the 13th second is from the first sharp were he beats up welshy

  • the 13th second is form the first sharp were he beats up welshy

  • too sad.never the series like that could be filmed.

  • bite pour spit tap aim, 40 shillings on the drum

.... and thats my favourite drama series summed up, everybody should remember "bite pour spit tap aim" and you can fire 3 rounds a minute, but can you stand?

  • @johnnybriggs118 SHARPE'S EAGLE

  • @johnnybriggs118 well it would be a bit hard to spit the bullet down the barrel, seeing as how it is at the bottom of the cartridge

  • @johnnybriggs118 hehe yeah :) shame u could never've done that with a baker but dont get me wrong love the series! :D

  • Cornwell is the best author out there right now

  • Cornwell is the best author out there right now

  • Thank You for THAT clip!

  • Firstly, I love him as Earl Fenton in Scarlett

Secondly, I love him as Count Vronsky in Anna Karenina

and know, I love him as Sharpe.

He's a great actor, no doubt.

  • the one from the tv show doesn't have the echo effect,it also plays much faster but i haven't been able to find it.

it's the one i prefer so if anyone can hook an old soldier up?

  • Pięknie zrobione!, naprawdę dobra robota! Dziękuję! ABSOLUTELY GREAT JOB !

  • from 0:06 to 0:12 it looks like he has a tiny body, especially his arms

  • I loved the Sharpe series... great stories, great underlying themes about honour, courage etc... all the acting great, especially Sean Bean..... and the icing on the cake is the haunting theme song.

Your montage treatment of the song is extremely well done, a great reminder of some of the series notable moments.

Well done, thanks for posting it.

  • 0.23 what is the sharpe movie?

  • Not fussed about Sharpe but such a great song.

  • best ever

  • 2 dislikers = 2 non entities

  • awsome series, awsome books, awsome song, by rifleman hagman of course.

  • Poll!!

If new episodes were made, strarting with Sharpe's Tiger in India (First book in the timeline but written later!), who would play Sharpe? I guess Sean Bean is too old now to play an teenage Sharpe..

  • @zenonko tom hardy

  • @zenonko the tv programmes sharpes challange and sharpes peril (both set in india) are the novels sharpes tiger, sharpes fortress and sharpes triumph reworked for tv and set in 1817

  • I'm not even British, but I love this song. it evokes images of honor and chivalry in a bygone era.

  • Awsome Video and awsome song. Sharpe is brilliant.

  • Einfach nur Hammergeil!!!

  • i like this song even if i am from sweden

  • a mixture of all scens from sharpe but still a great vid....looking for that dvd that was mentioned below

  • One of the best series ever never grows old

  • I love it. I want the song like crazy Can't find it

  • A CD out Called, Over the hills & far away. All the music used in Sharpe is on it.

  • Really good video, for being the first...

  • Hate the guy with the eye patch!

  • @buddyltd yeah me too, he was so evil! Cheers!

  • Lovely song.

Is he fighting the redcoats in some of the scenes?

  • Christ they look young. Was it really 1992,,,, time goes to fast.

  • Ugh! Dragonlance! Yuck! Tolkien purist me.

  • @SvenTviking

Noy a prist, but Dragonlance was very cheezy.

  • @Tiwaz81 Like Dallas or Dynasty with swords and Dwarves. Horrid!

  • Good job with this vid. I've watched the entire series. Young men as soldiers suffer in the hell of war. Even though Sharpe always wins there is a very real and large price to pay with the lives of good people. This series shows that. The music is great.

  • Over the hills and a long way of, the wind will blow my top knot off! (a differant version.)

  • @SvenTviking Tasslehoff Burrfoot

  • Sharpe: every woman wants him and every man wants to be him.

  • @21shergar excuse me? Just the women? I for instance want to sleep with Sharpe

  • Tamms is a legened

  • It's not good mate, it's brilliant.

  • where can I get the lyrics for this song?

  • Epic! This series was great! Sean Bean the best, just hope that Sharpe's Tiger will be better than Sharpe's Peril.

  • I love this song, I'd like to suggest verse updates for US soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Here's our dear dollars on the drum,

For those who'll volunteer to come,

To list and fight the foe today,

Over the hills and far away.

    Chorus:

O'er the hills and O'er the main,

To foreign lands beyond our plain,

To free the land, we hope, we pray,

Over the hills and far away.

  • @lubiqui11

Gotta admit that's nice for the United States soldiers.. but this is British ;)

Don't think the USA would like to adopt a song like this with the history during the War of Independance :D

  • @TigerMilitia "Through Afganistan, Iraq and Iran King George commands and we obey?. Not much different 200 years later,

  • @forty8r "The Queen commands and we obey" fits better. The Queen was actually in the original Lyrics, not sure why though, had classic verses such as: We all shall lead more happy lives

By getting rid of brats and wives

That scold and bawl both night and day -

Over the Hills and far away.

    :)

  • @lubiqui11 British song which is still sung by the Rifles Regiment (British Army) before they engage the enemy (When they're feeling sentimental anyway) please don't try to steal it especially as it was sung by troops who fought you guys all those years ago ;)

  • Over the hills and far away - look on the right side there more vids.

    -

U can download this song by using the ff plugin "VideoDownloadHelper"

  • What is the name of this great song ? Where can I download it ?

  • "I was born in a brothel, raised in an orphanage, and hope to die in the army," Richard Sharpe.

  • Oh and the fact that John Tams sings it. It's good to have all the info on the music so people can look it up if they want.

  • Well done! Yes Sean Bean is gorgeous. :) The only thing I could suggest that I like to see on music videos, is you could post the lyrics on the side in the more info section. The video is great.

  • Sharpe rocks and song rocks too nice movie for ur first

  • I love Richard Sharpe! I think they made two new ones! Can't wait to see them!

  • Ah... i do love the British Empire.

Great song, and a fine tribute to all our troops it would be if the Queen was

    A: named George

    and

    B: a Man

    better luck next time =P

  • Actually one of the songs before the corus was the queen commands and we obey, there have been many versions of this song, this is just one of them and the corus was changed to king george. This song dates back to about 1706 and has changed over the years. Also this version of the song has many more versus in some versions, again it changes sometimes. Too versions ive herd by john tams is this one and another with more versus.

  • @Shrike159

better suited to our "Shadow King" getting married this Summer? King William? This song is truly great!

"The sun never sets on the British Empire" she will rise again!

  • being ex light infantry i wish my company commander had been major sharpe

  • Wow, what a moving piece of music. Thanks for posting.

  • I remember seeing this series on TV and enjoyed it. (I haven't seen the most recent ones about the adventures in India). One thing always bothered me is that I don't remember what ever happened to Riflemen Tongue and Cooper. Thanks for posting this. 5 stars.

  • I notice sharpe hasn't got his scar in the videos. Any ideas why?

  • What ep is 3:11 from?

  • This is from Sharpe's Eagle.

  • You aught credit John Tams somewhere. He made this version of the song, he just lent it to Sharpe. Good work though. Go Sharpie!

  • Nice song John Tams

    Very best!!

    thank a lot ;-)

  • Great footage :-)

i'm just discovering the Sharpe's serie and you're video really encourage to see it.

    Thx a lot :-)

  • the series is great both the books and the movies

    enjoy

  • best song ever !!!

  • 1:17 Colm Corbec

    Tanith 1st & Only !!!

  • Explain please

  • I'll need more than this little box to realy explain it .

But here's the short one ...

Corbec is a guy in a multi book story about the Tanith 1st and only . These 2 men are alot alike in my opinion thus my other comment .

You'd need to be a war hammer fan in order to realy get it .

  • Holy shit, you're so right.

Particularly in the books, which are much darker, Gaunt is basicly Sharpe in M41, and many other characters are mirror images; Larkin is Hagman, Corbec is Harper and the Chosen Men are Gaunts Ghosts. Do you think one might have been based on the other?

  • I know right !

I didn't see it at first then I thought about it and it all fell togather !

    Now try this one ...

Look at star ship troopers and tell me what you think the Mobile ifantry remind you of ......

I keep hopeing they'll make a TV show or a movei out of one of the book's.

Hopefully one of the Gaunts Ghosts book's !

  • Well sharpe came first so I guess Gaunt was based one him.

  • nice vid thanx!

  • Great job on this - well done! For those interested, the Sharpe CD featuring this song is available on e-bay. Just type in "Sharpe CD".

  • Were can I buy this song?

  • i think your best bet is to download it, convert it, then burn it

...unless you want to spend hours searching for it on itunes

  • Limewire has it free online for download i have it on my mp3 player.

  • Super video , some lovely clips ,great song and fantastic man.

  • I have always Liked Sharpe and this time in history.

  • definitly one of my favorite shows.

    awesome vid, great music!
