try to get a small chest freezer for about $100 to store your flour and meal, it will last forever and keep bugs out like. also you can freeze bottle water or jugs of water.
I really like your set up but I had a good question for you. Most of the people that do the survival thing always store food, and maybe some store generators. But, here in WV, I store food, seed banks, and hunting supplies. I never see anyone store seeds or hunting supplies. I guess it all depends on how long you are planning to live though.
Screw the pets?Physical survival sometimes depends on emotional survival.
Pets give comfort and help keep us calm and helps with depression that you will feel during the bad times. If you have kids, the pets will give them something to take care of and keep their mind off things.
I was a survivalist for thirty years then one day I got tired of sitting on the front porch with my shotgun on my lap waiting and hoping for society to collapse. It never happened and once I came to my senses I finally realized how silly I was to waste so much of my life waiting for a sci-fi outcome to civiliation. The one thing that we can all count on is that man despises chaos and with collapse, recovery soon follows. Ask post war Germans. They know the most about it. The sun ALWAYS rises.
@schreckpmc, some people do for their own security feeling. so they can start to worry others things. WW2 is very different from the future collapse. the future collapse it will the the entire world system fall. i live in the country that can not have gun. if i do , i also prepare for it. it is fun.
Having all that stuff is great, but what about when you run out? Do you know how to produce/find the things you need without being able to go to a store. Survival will belong only to those who know how to get what they need from Nature.
@TheSurvivalSummary hey i have a besment storage but the sewer line for my huse runs over head of every thing you think this could be a very big problem i mean i dont want poo poo flying all over every thing
@TexasRob28 We have the regular old fashioned mouse traps. Once a year we catch about three and they are gone. It is around late fall when they are trying to find somewhere warm.
Thanks for the layout of your house. Now all a person has to do is back track on youtube get your address, pin you down with rifle fire, seal all exhaust points in your basement and stick in a hose from a car. All your shit will be their in hours, WTF is wrong with you people???? LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS, THE ENEMY MAYBE LISTENING, NEED TO KNOW BASIS ONLY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHO IS LISTENING,,,,are you that straved for attention?
why you wasting money and space on all of that liquid soap and detergent? you can make your own more potent home made stuff out of fells naptha, washing soda and borax. The shelf life is longer and you save about 60 cents per load of clothes.
@ericmattinen We live up on the mountain and unfortunately still get flooded when the sump pump goes. I think the people who built our house weren't too bright when it came to the draining system. We actually had to get four extra pumps for the melt after winter is over. All our food products go on the higher shelves because the flooding never fails.
Regarding the stacked 55G barrels, can the bottom barrel hold the weight of the top barrel full of water?
Instead of buying all that laundry detergent, make your own. For the same amount of detergent you have there, it would cost about $7.00 to make your own.
Why is there plastic on your walls? I have a room in the basement I call the bunker..solid concrete overhead,4 walls and the floor...but it gets very musty and dampness seeps in at the roof where it joins the wall..then it frosts! I ad been storing clotes there but they get musty. I may turn it into my food sotrage room, but would plastic help deter the "mustys"?
@YouDiddntSeeAnything Testing has shown that food exp. dates are flexible. For example, a can will expire, but still be edible for years. The nutritional level will fall, and sometimes taste will suffer.
@ericmattinen We have to test our sump pump each year as it has never gone off due to water level. We are almost on the top of a hill and have great drainage.
MAN! I have seen your videos and I give you the academy award for always ready always prepared. AMAZING STUFF! You have really inspired me too! I can't belive all that stuff you have thought of.
@ray2971 Just ball-parking the price with shelving and all would be around $5-6k. This also includes all of our every day food and the long term foods.
WHY ???

Do you know that in case of a nuclear attack, you have ~ 20 mins to hide for at least 2 weeks whitout going out ?
But you might also not be informed by your Gov.

Cereal and Soda as survival foods? What are you thinking?
JDRBNFB 10 months ago
@JDRBNFB Its for keeping the spirit up, candy aswell. Makes you happy =)
ThatGuyWithThePenis 8 months ago
Wow. I would never categorize soda pop and cereal as "survival" food. Your bottles of coke are a substantial amount of your inventory.

Do you see any potential problems with stacking them?

@YouDiddntSeeAnything If it spoils we will throw it out but if it just doesn't taste good any longer - it will be the food we give to friends first.
