indiekidBingham I'm only 20, and I was brought up on Oasis and The Beatles and I always thought that no one else could be better than these. Then I started listening to Arctic Monkeys. They have to be considered one of the greatest bands ever to exist, I just wish more people would realise, or understand their music. Alex Turner is an absolute genius! And he's only around 26! It's insane how good they are!
@spudinskie1 I know i made the mistake a few years ago of getting the jaguar but have since replaced the electronics and such to give it a jazzmastery tinge.
@LewiseB62 Yeah, My friend has got a jaguar, and i've got a thinline telecaster. My telecaster sounds so so much better through a fender valve amp than his! lol and his cost 850 quid, mine was 650.
@spudinskie1 i mean dont get me wrong jags are awesome but i think i may have been swayed a bit in the end by the look instead of the sound. I just didnt wanna get a strat, so overdone.
Is it bad that when I write my music, I sing it in a british accent? All the artists I listen to just happen to be british, but I'm american. Though as a younger kid, I decided I wanted to be british, so I constantly spoke in a britsh accent, so now when I speak i accidentally go brit. So I think that crossed over entirely to my singing.... haha
@AllYouReallyNeed haha its kinda opposite for me. As a Scot, I listen to a lot of british music, but when i write i just slip into some crappy generic american accent, bad habit :D
they try very hard to make it sound like they've thrown alot of cords together and what you can see live is how much work they have actually put into it. love them btw!
this is just the most amazing shit i have EVER seen! im a die hard strokes fan but these guys just take it the fuck away!! the improvs, the emotion, the sound! its just to fucking brilliant!
Too me, Arctic Monkeys has the same impact on my life as did Oasis and Stone roses had the same impact on my dad's life and Beatles on my Grandads life.
@indiekidBingham that's it! arctic monkeys are as good now as the stones were in 70, in the future we'll see them as we see stones now. what changes this idea about them is the nowadays media, which doesn't show us the good stuff anymore.
i think if someone wants to learn how to write good music they should learn all of the arctic monkeys songs starting with their old stuff and move in to the new stuff. Because the arctic monkeys were just another band using simple music but they played fast and good as fuck, then they started making music that was musically amazing, as well as lyrically amazing
All the guitar fills around the one and two minuite marks all sound like something from humbug. That's what I love about the arctic monkeys, they manage to even make their old stuff sound enough like their current style so that a full set of old and new doesn't sound weird. I also like that FWN was a good transfer between their first and third album so hardcore fans didn't get a shock. This band is fucking epic, I love them! All geniuses too.
@StefanoTermoli oh.. actually, except Grestch and the few other.. he always use jazzmaster as a main guitar along with ovation... and that is fender - -
If you wanna see some amazing drumming from Matt Helders and energy from AM look up the View From The Afternoon at pioneertown, the full 4 minute one!
good to see matt is still in tip top shape. yeah alex lowered his guitar and let his hair grow a bit and isnt as peppy but damn they gave it there all here.
@99aliff - True that.. And I may sound mean..but I liked his hair back in 2006 and 2008...it became a little too long! But no matter how their hair..I still love all the members and their music :)
Humbugs a brilliant album but that debut literally changed my life and the way I listen to music, I'm a bit older now though so I prefer the lyrical content of their newer more darker stuff. Whatever they do next i'm sure I'll like it but instrumental wise I hope it's fast and heavy.
I think they probably will make more stuff like this, I mean I know Alex is a big fan of The Vines' early stuff, I think with the new stuff it was a bit of an experiment really, they may go to experiment even further on the next album and have a continuously fast album!!! I'd love that! Songs like If you've found this it's probably too late and still yake you home would be orgasmic.
@DEADKiffer I prefer the upbeat stuff too, but Humbug is CLASS through and through. I think the new album will please you. It seems upbeat is their aim--from what the DL is right now.
