  • were the tires properly inflated??

  • i would work circles around him on my 988. he is definately not an "operator".

  • Could probably load that 777 the same speed with a skid steer!

  • looks like the gong

  • damn

  • Wow does this operator ever suck!

The bigger the machine, the easier it is to operate.

  • If this guy goes any slower they're gonna have to stick a mail box next to him.

  • if i loaded like that at work i would be gone by breakfast

  • I wish I could show you guys how it is done, he's got the rabit switch on which is making it a little jumpy. but not a bad start for a new guy

  • this guy must have placed last in the comp

  • slooooooooow

  • It's like watching Frankenstein's monster on ice skates.

  • hoist curl hoist curl make that dirt spill ove the back of the bucket

  • man that can shovel shit

  • you must know what you're doing to drive a machine like that

  • Great machine

  • still gotta 1/2 bucket of dirt at 3:14..........really productive operator

  • He sux!

  • hell even if he was a pro and if ya never ran a machine that size it take gettin used to hell that thing is almost twice the size of a 988id be real careful not to tear anything oe anyone up with that big girl

  • The only way to get better and faster is seat time. No books can show how to do that. You can read all you want but you get better with time and experience.

  • i love reading comments where people are insulting the operator "Finalists at the 2008 Caterpillar Operator Challenge had to get to grips with this massive machine" since it seems most of you never finished high school its his first time one the 992 and im sure the closest any of you will get to machine that size is in your back yard playing with tonka toys

  • Looks like my first time operating a loader... If this is a competition im embarrassed as an operator to watch this video

  • very green ....

  • Comment removed

  • I doubt if this guy has 200 hours on a front end loader of any kind. Let us know when he gets to 50000 plus hours.

  • @The67rockstar Just keep watching the video over and over. He'll get better as he gets more experience.

Anyway this was a competition for a magazine called Earth Movers. The guy isn't a Full-Time Operator. He is a reader of the magazine and entered into the competition for a chance to drive this machine. Comprende?

  • @TJD24tamebandkk I understand. The title did not state that this guy was a rookie. I think most of us assumed this guy was a professional. As a rookie he did ok. My apologies to this operator.

  • @The67rockstar He did do pretty well. I could see where you thought he was a pro, his turns were pretty smooth. All in all a pretty cool experience.

  • ein trottel was do fohrt

  • this is funny.....too much

  • i think they were jus showing the bluppers of the comp....thats it!

  • He sux!!

  • Front tire looks to need another 30 PSI.

  • i'd love to have a go in that....

  • If thats a "finalist" i dont want to see the competition!

  • Smooth operator......not so much!

  • Pretty much the same thing as the 992G I run, I have run H models, also, ya that guy needs a lot of practice, new machine or not!!!!!

  • @ER281000 they didnt make 992Hs, unless your talking about 988Hs

  • "ok now go park it in my garage " i wish

  • that guy sucks at running that thing i could do way better

  • Como se atreven a gravar eso..quien le dijo a ese tipo que era operador??

  • takes time that is a very big loader... in a few days you will be much faster

  • takes time that is a very big loader

  • madre mia que malo!!!!!!

  • Cool video. Not to be harsh, but the guy in the loader needs more seat time in another (smaller) loader to get used to running one, then get into something as big as the 992.

  • not very fast operator....

  • so what was the challenge? see how many half scoops it takes to fill a hundred ton rock truck or see how long we can drag it out?

  • ti si pocetnik neki slabo upravljas masinom

  • yer hes not the worst loader driver iv seen but not that crash hot either and a we bit slow

  • how many horsepower??

  • @mrBelfegorr 992k C32 ACERT= 801hp net power or 904hp gross power. 777F C32 ACERT =938hp net power or 1016hp gross power

  • You need a little more experience under your belt junior.

  • @HawkEyeOperator : Your cocky asshole.

  • @elitecssplayer And you're creepy looking!

  • @HawkEyeOperator : And you're a dumb prick!

  • @elitecssplayer At least what I said is true.

  • @HawkEyeOperator : You have no idea about my life and would perish if you had found out.

  • @elitecssplayer

Perish! I would perish? Ooooooohhhhhhh!!!!! I get it now! You're Stupid!!! Why didn't you say you were Stupid? You should have ended your first comment with "by the way, I'm Stupid!"

  • @elitecssplayer : It's a good thing, infact a DAMN good thing, you don't know me...

  • Nice video. Thanks.

  • very bad driver....

  • It's amazing, all these critics that were born knowing how to operate a loader and never had to learn. If you're that good go teach the rookies instead of complaining.

  • I would love to see a real operator run this

  • You operate a piece of equipment, not drive! My loader man would spank this guy head to head!

  • Yeah I'm sorry I don't like to talk shit but he has to be new to operating beacuase he is slow as hell.

  • i wounder if can wipe his ass better than this?

  • He cant drive very good

  • shit driver

  • Lol he needs to shut up and go back in his dumptruck ... He dident even look like he was trying? At a 1000 liters a day ied be like " Johnny GET THE FUCK OUT! ".

  • he's so slow if he was loading me at work i would of bet shit out of him already

  • bad operator.

  • He seems to have trouble multi-tasking... I operate a Cat TH63 and there is lots of multitasking that you have to do! Lowering the boom, retracting, driving and steering all at the same time on occassion!

  • 1/2 bucket lollll

  • damn put a real operator in that preatty thing if your going to have a competition I would love to show ya a thing or to about earth moving

  • too slow for productivity.

  • hes fuckin useless. i drove a 988h for a long time and there not hard to drive. i would load dat dumper faster with a komatsu wa470. and this is a competition. he should be shot!!!!!!

  • hes fuckin useless. i drove a 988h for a long time and there not hard to drive. i would load dat dumper faster with a komatsu wa470. and this is a competition. he should be shot!!!!!!

  • he's never production loaded before...easy to see that...nice brand new loader tho

  • I could see he was not used to it !

  • WTF is this crap?

  • Comment removed

  • finalist??? I am pretty damn sure that the gyu behind the sticks is a kid trying a loader for the first time or just a guy who newer operated a loader before... i mean , come on operator challenge?? no way!

  • This guy need to learn how to operate a face loader. Why would you start to lower the bucket before reversing away from the truck. Just curl the bucket back and start reversing and when you are clear of the truck start to lower the bucket. Also you could speed up the whole time just by not driving around so much keep close to the truck you should only have 1 and 1/2 wheel turns max reversing and moving to the truck. As for digging try using two fingers on the controls, lift and crowd

  • nice piece of machinery, not sure why the operator has to reverse so far before taking another scoop again thats why these machines arent rigid so that you can turn faster. ye those tyres need some air!..

  • Come on now, I could load the truck almost twice as fast as this guy. He has good bucket fill technique but he's way too timid on the throttle. You should be seeing some black smoke coming out when you're working the loader.

  • @sultanqasim Your right the tires do need air; but as for beating on the machine you might as well find a different line of work.

  • @jerbearthegr8one Loading twice as fast was an exaggeration, but you can run the loader quite a bit quicker without "beating on it." His bucket filling was not bad, but he could have done it a bit faster by keeping his rpms higher. He could have eliminated the pause between 1:26 and 1:30 and just raised the bucket while moving. He could also have dumped his bucket a bit quicker by driving right up close to the truck with the bucket held high, and smoothly uncurling while backing out.

  • @jerbearthegr8one (continuation of previous comment) I won't call him a bad operator, but you could get more production from the same loader by working it harder without doing any damage. I've run 988s and know that bigger loaders move a bit slower than the smaller ones, but by eliminating these multiple small wastages of time, and by being a bit more aggressive on the throttle, he could have cut up 10 seconds off his cycle time.

  • @sultanqasim ya your probley right about shredding 10 sec. off cycle time, he's just being extra cautious for his test plus those damn flat tires seem to make him not want to slam down the arms. lol i try to be careful about these machines as i fly to different states with my boss to buy 938s' and 950s' (snow plowing business) and i'm sort of his right hand man if you know what i mean. He always speaks to me about going slow with them and warming them up etc. He's a very good boss man. thx.

  • @jerbearthegr8one Yeah, I get what you mean. It's important to warm up the machine properly, especially in winter. For winter use, I let the machine warm up gradually for 15 minutes, and then I go easy for first few minutes working the machine. In the summer though, I just give it a couple minutes to warm up and then get going.

  • Algo lento cargando el chaval

  • wow... where i work we just hired a guy to run a 992g and he never operated any piece of equipment before and hes faster and better than this amatuer half assed operator. i could probably build a ramp and load the truck faster with a 950

  • My god I know there is low air pressure in that thing but the amount of time he took to load one truck is nuts,he should have loaded between 2-3 trucks in the same amount of time-hell even on flat tires!!

  • i could do it quicker with a WA600 lol

  • Finalist ? At what, worlds worst operators? Some air in the tires might help some but that guy ain't got a clue on how to load a truck.

  • is this driver one of the finalists??????

  • yo pienso que este hombre la esta provando y no la utiliza bien del todo, pero es una gran maquina.

  • Oops! Spillage at the back, ten thousand points off the final score there! lol

  • put some air in them tires and load that tool son

  • muy lento el operador el camión lo pone demaciado lejos mala forma de cargar

  • his driving sucks

  • Comment removed

  • He wasn't putting a whole lot in his bucket your right, but those tires were bulged out a lot, might have to put some more air in them!

  • Thank you for an enjoyable video.

It was interesting and entertaining whilst being informative and a little educational.

    Thank you again :o)

  • 980 Hp you couldnt get more in the bucket then that? That other person was right everybodys got to start somewhere but they should start on a small machine then work your way up

  • 2:51

nothing worse than sitting there trying to eat your lunch and have some idiot about bounce you out of the drivers seat....fail

  • every bodys gotta learn somewhere u need practice to become experienced and u need experience to master a machine like this

  • There's got to be more to this story:

It must be a drive day for office staff

  • @Muffinrider I agree....After my first day, I wasn't this rough on a machine. I ran a 544E JD and a 966 Cat for two years....I was NEVER this slow or rough

  • @goofyexponent well the 966 being a tonka toy to a 992 does make a big difference, the low air pressure on this particular loader is not helping the guy much but for sure he is no operator. Finalist? or beginner.

  • @loaderman43 I totally agree. I know the bigger the machine, the harder ir is to be smooth and easy as you are throwing a lot more weight around.

  • @goofyexponent I always thought the bigger the smoother??? The little controls always seem way jumpier to me!

  • SLAM! he bucket drops...Great way to strain the pins unnecessarily...I always wanted to try my hand at the 992. As big of a machine as I've operated is a 980G II. 50-60 hours a week for five years so far.

  • Try a 994 its even bigger

  • hilarious this bloke should be loading bark chips with a 920

  • i think the point is they've never driven these machines before...

  • nice loader, hopeless operator

  • hell he cant even get a full bucket

  • A finalist........poor guy looks like a first timer, how do you get into these operator challenges? Anyone Know?

  • Finalist? It looks like He is just start learning.

  • i could run circles around this guy

  • He is a finalist - what a joke.

That guy would not last two seconds in the real world.

    how pathetic.

  • madre mia!!!!!!!!!! esto es como si haces el examen de carné de coche con un ferrari!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • just look at the first pass, its like he doesnt know what hes doing

  • I could be wrong, but, I think I could do that good or even better. And I've been on a loader maybe one hour in my life time.

  • terrible truck spotting and horrible cycle time.now this isn't an operator

  • This was filmed at the finals of the 2008 Caterpillar Operator Challenge. The challenging part for the contestants was operting the strange kit, like a 385 face shovel, or the big stuff, like this decent-sized loader.

  • @EarthmoversTV how often do they have these competitions and where are they held?

also how would you be able to get involved in this competition

  • Only loader drivers can test loaders

  • i can see one big problem with this vid well not the vid but the loader its self

  • yeah the operator
