  • Susan....you are amazing ! I LOVE your style...your voice...YOU !

  • This is such a beautiful version. Thank You!

  • Susan will be performing @ French Quarter fest next Sunday 4/10 @ 2:15 . FREE !

  • Wow, I really like her. I'd pay top dollar to see her perform! Great voice, great talent.

  • susan cowsill sounds great,is vastly underrated & largely unheard of by younger music fans. i hope that changes.

  • This song is not only about Blaze Foley, not Gram Parsons, but was explicitly written for Blaze after he was murdered February 1st, 1989.

  • love all the love for Susan here-she has a voice for the ages.

  • this song was written by lucinda williams and it is about gram parsons, yet your comments concerning blaze foley made me investigate someone i was not familiar with, thanks

  • Lucinda Williams wrote it, but Susan made it her own. I love this song the way she performs it. I hope she puts it on a live disk.

  • I wonder if she may have had Barry in mind when she was singing this...he's on the other side...

  • I was thinking about Barry, her brother who died in the aftermath of Hurricane. Gawd.. Barry was SO SO O O" O cute in his teens and twenties! Wow! Talented and funny too!

I am thinking this song was about Barry. I guess Susan knows.

  • As is a couple of her other brothers, most notably, Billy who died of liver complications.

  • She had both brothers in mind - Bill & Barry!!

  • A song denigrating Blaze Foley and blaming him for his own murder. This is obscene. Imagine being homeless in Austin, Texas and listening to this insulting crap. I mean, listen to the words.

  • I dont see how this song is insulting. Its a great lyric about a guy that lucinda had alot of respect for.

  • Lucinda Williams wrote this song about her friend Blaze. Her bitterness is uderstandable, so many people with great talent meet bad ends. Lu was ust telling it as it was.

  • @uggligr have you ever heard of the 7 stages of grief? people deal differently with it, let her be, she admired this man and would not have released a song denigrating him. are you in one of the stages of grief? if so, there is probably counselling out there for you. anger is one of the first.

  • awsome job better than all the other wannabess

  • Man, she's so far ahead of today's female vocalists. She shows them how to do it and all they can do is sit and wish.

  • Boy, Susan can belt it when she has to. Her bro's aren't here but are not needed. It's fun to see the survivors perform but we sometimes can't. Wouldn't it cool to go to a reunion concert featuring all the Cowsills alive and well ? Man that would be awesome! For refreshments, uh well, since it would have to be milk, a spiked egg nog or two would do. Rock on Susan!

  • the cowsills are still doing it live!!

  • Great job Susan, So much better than Madonna BS !!!! and Brtiney BS !!! Sorry for the comparison ,there really is none ,you and Lucinda are great !!

  • COOL, ONCE AGAIN. SUSAN ROCKS!

  • i never heard her sing this when she was with the continental drifters.. but holy hell she sure got it right..right here.

  • Susan sounds alot like lucinda. But she sings it way better here. Great band

  • And Susan is a lot better looking! ;)

  • Susie's razor sharp version..... is on my main pc page........

  • i love you susan!!! it was great talking with you at the cannery in vegas last month. keep on making that beautiful music that is uniquely your own.

  • susan cowsill owns this song! the cowsills are entertaining people and discovering new legions of fans because they actually have talent!!!

  • This chick fuckin' rules! I hate it when vocalists sing all affected and shit. . .like Morrisette. I Love the natural Real sound of her voice. Geez, I love this!

  • @ironbuttermilk LOL "All affected and shit!" I was thinking the same thing. Female singers especially tend to go overboard on vocals, like they try too hard. This one here just sings naturally, down to earth, from her heart and shows respect for her great band by giving them some room to be heard.

  • yea susan!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow I love it

  • Fantastic!!

    Wow~

    Incredible

    You sound just like LU

  • Fabulous! goto UncleVRoy channel and link this cover to his LW cover of Ventura- LW Week is happening now- hope to see you there- love your cover of this cool LW tune!

  • OUTSTANDING vocal by Susan!!!!!

  • It was written about Blaze Foley, who was murdered in 1988; but a great song like this one -- just shows how it can apply to many situations. Certainly the tragic loss of Susan's brothers enhances her passionate interpretation. Good job. Also important to give credit to Lucinda's former band, Gurf Morlix, John Ciambotti and the late great Donald Lindley has endured and become a recognizable style.

  • Thanks for the additions. This is a great, unrecognized song from probably one of the greatest songwriters of our generation. And Cowsill does a heartbreaking rendition.

  • Yes -- Lucinda is one of the greatest -- not just songwriters but WRITERS -- of ours, or any, generation. An American and international treasure. Thanks for the great footage of Susan

  • I swear this song must have been written for Billy and Barry. Great cover, and if you've ever seen her do it live then you won't be able to keep from crying.

  • I agree!!!

  • Thanks for Sharing. Susan really is Great on this song.

  • Wow. Just wow. She absolutely nails this. You go Susan. Why do so few people know or appreciate her as a solo artist! She is an A-1talent.
