@rjbonacolta The fight choreography was based on a combination of fencing and kung-fu. They employed a little refined stabbing, and a lot of showy slashing.

@rjbonacolta The point of a sword is to kill your opponent with the sharp end, not play around with it by attacking their weapon.

But of course, as you well know Hollywood has a tendency to embellish certain details for the sake of drama. I mean, a real sword duel lasts under a minute, but that's not very good for action movies - and besides, actors don't really want to hurt each other.
