Thanks for the vid. I had a 94 Escort GT and loved it. The little Mazda 1.8 liter engine is from the Miata. It has low torque but I loved the way it would "come up on cam" at around 4,500rpms. It was a very fun motor to drive. The 5-speed manual sucked. I totally wore out the 2nd gear synchros by 30k miles but I drove it hard.
i have a 95 escort gt and its slower then shit my corolla ve was so much faster well then again i had lighter crank and cam and i had 03 celica injectors and ecu and no cat and inside was mint still..... i wish i didnt have this escort i miss my corolla :(

As an update it's been a couple years since I posted this, I gave the car to my younger brother who ordered a 323 turbo kit for it, and blew the motor while screwing around one day. The car unfortunately sits in a junkyard somewhere, but it's legacy will live on for ever.
Yeah, you must have a very good clutch in it, cause as of now mine doesnt grip like that in first, but then again mine has 185,000 miles and IDK the last time there was a new clutch in there
hey dude i got an escort lx, and i got the sound of a loud intake with my stock filter box, how? well all you have to do is make a hole in the bottom of the box, the bigger, the louder, but not too big! about 3 quarters of the bottom of the box, you'll get a great sound, and quicker throttle response.

ha, yea, compare the price of the 2 cars new though, or used. 91-96 Escort GT's are one of the best cheap cars ever! Sure i'd take my friends '98 gsr over my gt in a heartbeat, but when new the escort was new it was about 12K and the gsr about 20K, used his was 5k, mine was 1,200. for the price they are a LOT of car. Plus you can do a cheap drop in turbo swap, mod the suspension a little, and be around the same price as a decent gsr, and obliterate it all day.
I had a 93Gt and I loved that car. Small, light, and quick. That Mazda always sounded pretty when I got it going too. The 91-96 Escort GT's are the best kept compact tuner secret out there.
wow. that is quicker than my'95 gt! you must have more done to it than just an intake, exhaust, and short throw. I have all those done plus the weight reduction and my tach doesnt climb that fast! I got my set up a turbo with forged internals and a lightweight flywheel and it doesnt seem to have the balls it should.
Heh, I like the credits at the end... Not a bad run. My 94 1.9er was slow as hell, until I modded the crap out of it, but then I blew the thing up, the 1.8's are pretty quick, for an escort... Escorts Rock... now i'm running a d15b7 civic dx, all stock for now. Only vid I have of my 94 is an exhaust clip, i'll upload it.
