Meiner Meinung nach ist Samsung der einzig wahre Konkurrent wobei man es nicht einmal Konkurrenz nennen darf. Apple bringt Technik in etwas anderem design heraus, deklariert es als alles ändernde neuheut und alles was wirklich vorhanden ist, ist Technik die man meist auch woanders zu einem überhaupt vorhandenen Preis Leistungsverhältnis bekommt. it's about time; the iPiss Touch has been out for like 3 years already and only now a competitor arises. Why didn't anyone do this before; the only reason Apple is doing so well is because they have the iPod and iPhone side-by-side. Let's face it, many people want the functionality of a smartphone without the phone and others want it all. I may hate Apple, but I must give their marketing strategy some credit; it's about time someone stepped up to the plate and I'm buying it!

@Italian518 unfortunately there still isn't a media player for android devices that can really compete with iTunes. I struggle to find ways to make iTunes work for my android but doubletwist is the best thing out there and it still isn't good enough for me. It's satisfying but I'm still thinking about getting an ipod so it would work as it should as far as smart playlists and things like that. If good ever came out with something similar to iTunes for android i think apple would fall.

I've delt with Archos in the past. While their product specs are always incredible, their tech support and reliability is always questionable to say the least. So I'd rather not go back to them. Plus no marketplace support.

What I ended up doing instead was buying a lightly used (and I do mean lightly used, looks like it just came out of the box) Samsung Vibrant off of craigslist for $200. I popped my SIM card in there and turned off the data connection since I don't need one.

But do you have to leave the sim card in your vibrant just to use the device itself for music or videos? I might do the same because these guys havent released a date for the galaxy 50 yet.

@bboyemme nope, you can use it without the sim card... I just chose to put mine in there because now I only have to carry one device around instead of two. I had T-Mobile before I bought the phone, but unless you have Verizon or another company that doesn't use sim cards I would suggest you buy that carrier's variant of the Galaxy S (provided that it meets your specs, the Verizon one only has 2GB for example) so that you can do the same.

@bboyemme Like the Archos 43 it comes with 16GB built-in and is expandable with an up to 32GB micro SD card. once those come down in price a little I'm going to buy one and put all my music on there. Now I have a state of the art android device, cellphone, and MP3 player all in one.

Looking at the video, I believe this device has no GPS. This brings up one point. When will these companies stop playing catch up and up the ante by bringing in GPS and may be a few more goodies like the credit card payment sensor (as demonstrated in Nexus 2). The device looks nice, but then there is neither a need nor a want for it. One can find a used My touch 3g in Craigslist for around $100 or so and use that instead.

i think this might be a serious competitor to the iPod. The one they're planning on showcasing at CES has the dual cameras like the iPod BUT it also has a lot of features that Apple was lacking in the beginning of it all. I'm seriously considering replacing my iPod for this when it comes out.
