I don't know if it's coincidence, but Lyril (a product of Unilever in England) reminds me of a deodorant bar soap Lever Brothers (in the U. S.) launched in 1959 or 1960 called Praise. The Praise and Lyril wrappers look almost identical, as do the soap bars. The Praise campaign however had nothing to do with a "lovely, lively feeling"--apparently we Americans had to make do with what was described as "the bright look of health." Coincidence? Maybe, but I don't think so!
According to an acquaintance of mine this is ad is from "1956, possibly late 1955". The most striking thing about it is how much higher-pitched women's voices were then (see also the backing vocals on Cliff Richard's "Theme For A Dream").
I can't help think of Jasper Carrott's programme "Carrott's Commercial breakdown"...
"And when 'Things start to HAPPEN!', you'd better be armed with something more effective than a bar of Lyril!"

Blimey all that from a bar of soap. They don't make soap like they used to.

She says "It's a tingle inside you".
By the way she's jumping around and grinning uncontrolably, it looks like she's eaten it!

By 'eck her facial expressions are...frightening. Agree about the high-pitched voice; sounds like a pre-teen voicing this.
