he's playing it correct his guitar just seems to be tuned a little higher. Best be is to check the inotation of the 6th string on the 12th fret. if it goes over the bar and seems to sound sharp you'll have to change string height, etc.

I find it easier with my pinky resting, it means you keep your playing hand in the same position at all times, so your less likely to play the wrong string, but it depends what your comfortable with.

So you get lots of acoustic covers of songs, like Gnarls Barkley Crazy, MTV Unplugged Nirvana had many songs covered as acoustic.
