  • I bet that pilot's eyes got about as big around as basketballs for a second...

  • You can't call it a Top Gun landing because it's not an F-14 Tomcat.

  • was that cougar being all shaken up from the dog fight?lol

  • No worries, he over corrected at the last moment. He will catch shit from his skipper and buddies, yet he's fine. LSO will grade him down for the tri cycle effect and 2 wire arrest.

  • Actually, even in the video shown here, is normal. This is pretty much a crash landing. This happens often with small fighters like the F/A-18, sometimes, the A-4 (when it was in service of course), and the F-14 Tomcat. But this landing happened to most, if not, all aircraft landing on the carrier at least once.

  • not bad for a hornet driver trying land only on the nose wheel.

  • VERY COOL!!! thats what freedom looks like!

  • the number of bounces at a landing is directly proportional to the number of viewers...

  • The pilot shitted the seat!

  • Haha the F-18 bounced up on one wheel!!

  • are you going fore real when you're old enough?

  • a good landing is one you can walk away from, a great landing is one where the plane can be used again, this was a great landing.

  • Mission Accomplished

  • bouncy bouncy

  • how does the rope attach ?

    is it magnetic?

  • No there's a hook on the back of the plane and the pilot has to catch the arrestor wires with the hook. It stops the plane in about 1 second.

  • thats hard,

  • old school hook and catch

  • the planes have a tailhook which catch one of four wires laid out on the carrier deck so they stop nice and quick

  • you kidding me? there's no magnet in the world that could stop that much force...the plane comes at 130+ knots....

it's a hook that grabs the cable, which is not an elastic, what makes it stop is the friction.

  • uh ok well im only 16

not ready to know that stuff

  • why does it day 19 in your channel lol...

  • because im pretending to be a soldier

    LOL...

    oh well

it just suits my videos related to war docos..

  • no if it is ever time a plane lands it's electronics would get screwed, the planes have a hook that comes down to hook onto the wires on the carrier (there are 5)

  • that is why the landing gear sucks on the hornet. compared to the Tomcat, the Tomcat had better control of landing due to its spread of landing gear.

  • @dimitri02 You know, with your attitude of coming into beautiful videos like these, and degrading such an amazing aircraft, we would call that "trolling" in the Navy.

  • Wow!!! That was bumpy!

  • excellent footage! wish you had an HD camera!

  • man, the gear can take a lot of punishment!

    respect!!

  • He came in way to hot and he hit the deck allot later then he should have.

  • ahh he mustve messed up his back in that landing the nose frekin bounced forward

  • He seem to come down from too high, or is this normal? I honestly dont know.

Im guessing its pretty loud on deck when he goes full thrust at the end.

  • it looks like he tries to increase the descent rate just as he reaches the stern and comes down a bit hard, the main gear shouldnt come off the ground like that, it was a hard landing in my opinion (not normal) lol

  • outch !

  • pretty bumpby eh?

maybe the pilot saw the camera and then remembered he was really shy to camera's

    ahhh. childhood trauma's

  • lol

  • wow that was a very dangerous landing. I a bit of a more tilt and the wing would have hit the deck.

  • Nice landing. Like the saying goes. A Cairrer landing is a controled crash.

  • wow, this one was bumpy
