@Adderlyduran : OOOOOOOH nooo, I have a lot of dominicans in my team..... They only speak, they are fake baseballers. Perhaps they are stronger, bigger...but in fact they stay weaker. And in the team everybody hate them.. Japaneese are quiet, smart, and know what fairplay is. We learn much more about japaneese than dominican.

dominican republic is the 2nd biggest producer of mayor league baseball players after USA, not japan, venezuela, mexico, or any other country produces more players than dominican republic

if japan players were so good as you say, then why do american scouts prefure to invest money here in dominican republic than in japan

its visable, and i can bet 10000 to 1 that if dominican republic made a prospect team of teen's and made them play agains a japan prospect team of teen's......... just by looking at the players you could tell that dominican players have the advantage... not to mention players here train harder than in any other country in the world,

@Adderlyduran that is a very big assumption. japanese high school baseball teams train very very rigorously. trust me im not saying japanese train harder BUT i am saying that the level of intensity of the training is close of that of dominican republics. that is why we are able to have many talented pro players and no team other than japan has won the WBC title

@2733yoshi thats the only thing i won't argue on, yes japan has won the WBC twice... but either if you talk to any japanees high school player.. and ask them where they would like to end up in terms of baseball,... no matter how much they would like to play professional baseball in japan, i guarantee you that there ultimate dream is to play in the MLB.. and in that sence Dominican Republic is better than japan, because aside from Americans, the majority are Dominicans

@Adderlyduran yes that is true. the reason why MLB is dominated by dominican players is because the playing style of most MLB teams is with brute strength; for example power hitters that can hit 500 homeruns etc. BUT the japanese having a disadvantage of strength compared to other nationalities developed a playing style in which they use there speed and quickness otherwise known as "small ball play". they depend on singles and sacrifice bunts to score runs. and this tecnique was proved effective

@Adderlyduran Dominicans are so poor, they are ready to take and do everything to have a chance to go on MLB, or any other championship just to eat something.

Everyplayer I met was in the national team... just the proof that you take everybody in your national team.

Find something to eat and you ll not feel weaker and you ll have no more to proove to the rest of the world.

koshien is the name of a high school baseball tournament in japan it is called koshien cause they play it in koshien stadium the home for the hanshin tigers

Koshien is the name of this stadium located in Kobe Japan. It is the home for a nationwide high school baseball tournament that happens in Japan twice a year.

The tournament in general is known as "Koko Yakyu" further separated into the Spring and Summer Koshiens.

So you've got high school baseball teams from all over Japan coming in to play each other in the tournament. It's pretty crazy, the only thing that I've experienced that even comes close is March Madness.

I don't even know if this tourney is even broadcast over here in the states. I think you can watch this documentary over at Hulu(dot)com.

America does have the College and Little League World Series. Japan can do a nationwide tourney considering that the entire country is roughly the size of California.

I've got this on DVD, great documentary. The scene towards the end with the manager of the public school made me tear up.

There's another trailer out there with footage of the high school bands playing in the stadium. It was pretty great footage, I think they were playing an Earth Wind and Fire song.
