Great to find these again - That album was class..... Funny.... I did some graffitti "Wall Of Voodoo" .... I was caught bang to rights as I was the only person any one knew who liked them!! ooopppsss
Stan played solo at Coventry Polytechnicin 86, because i was the only one at the front who knew his songs he pulled me up on stage to do Mexican Radio with him, absolute class night
I have this album on cd and lp and don't understand why Stan's vocals are mixed down? The person who mastered this album didn't know what he was doing.
I've listened to this whole album once a day since I 1st got it on vinyl, wore out a couple of cassettes till it was released on CD, and closing in on 30 years later I'm down to once a week. I'm going to lowball an estimate of at least 5000 times... Then comes the Repo Man soundtrack, but that's another story. The fact that Stan is still making great music makes up for the loss of Hunter S. Thompson.
Stan's best vocals. No embellishment, just straight up letting the song sing itself. So many great WOV songs. Many where he used a staccato rhythm (Mexican Radio, Factory) or sing-songy quality (Camouflage) which entertained, but this song rests on the listener like a blanket and stays with you.
the stranglers sometimes did songs like this .... too slow and clean (vs muddled) for most of the modern youth , part of the darker parts of many of our pasts . great music , but unfortunately i havent seen a store with any cds from them for a very , very long time.
Ah man. The Thomas Dolby, Cowboy Mouth, Fad Gadget, Bauhaus, Big Country and Specials years. It's not my youth that's been misspent. It's the time the music industry has spent trying to engineer hits since then.
A beautiful song. Visions of dreams lost while taking one last chance to hit it big. Gorgeous melodies. The WoV could "layer" music better than most bands I ever heard. Much like a artist painting a majestic mural . .only with lyrics and melodies. This album is one of my favorite treasures. I've known many. . lost weekends.
hey tinman / how many lost weekends have you had.

Another great WOV song. Unfortunate that if anyone does remember them, they only remember Mexican Radio. Oh & 2 people are just completely lost.

Call of the West had such a great atmosphere, dark, melancholy, and mysterious without making me feel depressed.

Too bad the record companies won't support real music like this anymore. More POP TRASH...or we can enjoy the good uploads there. THANKS A MILLION!!

I can't stand most of the drum machine bands. But WOV is one of my exceptions.

Are You Kidding! Joe Nanini (drummer for WoV) was noted for his drum and beat skills!
