  • yes but will it blend ?

  • Does it run Crysis?

  • it takes me 25 seconds to get booted up login,etc..

  • i havew this for my desktop, came with my motherboard, shame i cant use it because it doesnt support hardly any wifi cards, and making it recognise the drivers for my card..... seriously if im gonna do that ill just get ubuntu....

  • can you also download it for a laptop without an asus motherboard or OS? So you can use it as a linux thingy...

  • Lightbulb- You need to get up to turn on the lightbulb

Toaster- You need to wait for the toast to be done

TV- You need to Get the Remote, turn it on, go to the recorded, and then watch your show

My Computer boots faster than my toaster toasts

  • That laptop is nasty...

  • 8 seconds boot up for express gate....5 seconds for linux to boot up...and its a fully system...what would you choose?

  • I'd like to see an Asus Express Toaster that can make your toast in 5 seconds

  • Your computer should boot within 20-30 seconds if its like 2-6 minutes. you got too much crap you dont need on your pc

  • Your computers Crash and your tech support stinks. People do not worry about the specs. These computers mess up. My computer fan stop working. I can change the fan myself, but they will not sell it to me. They are trying to force me to send it in. And there tech support would have you waiting over over 45 mins in some cases. And they will not even tell me how much it would be to for them to fix it

  • Why have I not heard about this earlier???

  • express gate will make your computer like other appliances!

but i don't want my computer to make toast...........

  • I still dont know how to boot mine every video is boot express gate on a lap top with spatial keys mines on a desktop so how do you boot into express gate any way

  • @1800Supreme You need an Asus laptop/computer

  • @FlyingLaptop no most Asus mother boards are express gate ready just not installed they do it so u can always go get the newest one from the site

  • @1800Supreme Oh... well, I can't help you. Sorry

  • Interesting. I was wondering what this was when I read about it in the asus motherboard instructions. I won't be needing it on my new desktop machine I built as I leave it running all the time, however on a laptop this would be great to have as it would shut down/restart fast. No having to leave it in suspend mode which sucks battery juice.

  • My Ubuntu Linux laptop boots faster than Expressgate, hehe. But, I love ASUS anyway. I'm choosing them for my next laptop.

  • Ofc i leave my toaster on all day

  • i always switch off the computer when im done with it! Who the hell doesnt? BTW she sounds like a retard when the turtle is crawling across the screen shes like a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong tiem

  • I have a "black screen of death" because of this crap! How do I turn this off :'( Anyway, CMOS short didnt help, removing the battery also, so I'm fucked

  • al opgelost?

  • ASUS - FOREVER!!!

  • shitware

  • Asooose? I always thought it was Ay sus! lol Aysus sounds a lot better

  • and me

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • do i have to dump my current OS? or does it come with dual boot option?

  • No, It's like a dual boot. Like if you just want to surf the web then just start express gate wait 5 seconds and your on the web.

  • thx!

  • This is actually brilliant, in the way its easy to use. Of course, anyone decent with computers knows that this is the same thing as dual-booting a very stripped down, fast-loading, linux OS, but this requires no setup, or anything. Just press a button. You don't even see a bootloader screen. Its great for non-techies.

  • Open Source OS! Linux is excelent!

  • It takes you 5 seconds for Vista? Sure...

  • mine only takes around 5 seconds too

  • The Express Gate is a very good thing. On Vista the Power 4 Gear is working, and the PC is quiet when i'm surfing on the internet. If I start the linux with Express Gate, the fans of my notebook are very noisy, what is disturbing me. It would be good, if you can fix that problem, because that idea of fast booting linux is very good.

  • Nice cheesy way of appealing to more people with 'the green advertisement'.

Also what version of linux is it?

  • I like the potential of this for quick access while on the move. Anyone who might want to try something like this, Google for D.S.L (Damn Small Linux) and try booting your PC from a USB flashkey.

  • It's called a lap, you end up where you started :P

  • i love asus and i have a asus laptop. the brand of asus laptop is asus A6000 series entertainment notebook(A6J) and the video card is cool cuz i can play any games and my fav online games

  • dont buy ASUS notebook, their after sale service really sucks!!!!!!! I had an ASUS W7S which used for 1 year and the main board toasted due to HEAT issue, sent to their local ASUS service center for more than 1 month, they still not yet be able to fix or replace the main board. keep telling me that they are waiting for the spare part... 1 month warranty wasted on waiting, that really SUCKS!!!!! I recommend everyone better go for DELL or HP but not ASUS (Absolutely Super Unacceptable Slow)

  • hey will u stop saying about asus? dell has one prob dell was not built for speed and my teacher has a dell laptop and she say the dell laptop was so slow that she have to wait for long time and i gt a asus laptop but it does not have that thing but it still boot up very fast like 5 and which u use it for long hours like about 5 hours and hp is even slower cuz i gt a compaq laptop P4 which i have to wait for long time but since i gt a asus laptop it boot up very fast even i have high apps

  • hmm... u don't get instant toast either...

  • fun! but I wonder when the Essentio CS5110 will be coming out!

  • If you buy an Asus motherboard that supports express gate, there should be a flash drive soldered onto the board somewhere (the PCB, not an actual thumb drive). That thing is where express gate lives. The boot time is so fast because 1. it's a flash drive, not a hard disk, and 2. it's linux (lightweight).

A really good idea from asus.

  • I love Asus

  • me too :)

  • And for shut down... any computer has this feature of shutting down instantly, but it scratches the hard disk and it doesn't save your data... if it doesn't harm your computer then the cooler, processor and hard disk will run after the monitor goes black for a while...

  • Man, it is literally impossible for a computer to turn ON so fast: In this case it just turn on certain applications and on background it turns on the other ones... that's why, only certain programs are available for use immediately after it's turn on... to get full functionality from the system when you turn on your computer, you can turn them on normally and wait, or you can de-hibernate them, or wake them from sleep...

  • It's a mini linux in the mobo's ROM, aplications are pre-installed there. It does not boot your regular OS. Boot time is 5 seconds after post, 8 seconds WITH post, or at least that's what they claim.

  • What are you talking about is a kind of hibernation; it doesn't shut down the whole system, it keeps alive some programs:D, it is required a long and boring shut down at least once a week... otherwise malfunctions are possible to appear;

  • No, it's a ROM, fixed memory, not a hibernation. Programs are on ROM (on the mainboard, they have the same thing on their Q series motherboards), you cannot change them, modify them etc. You have a small portion of flesh memory for read/write and storing settings, like you gmail account etc. For email, it access it from the FF browser, not email client. It just has a icon for it but essentially it is your typical online mail client/applet.

    Regards.

  • Oh yeah, I think i get what are you talking about... It's kind of the same principle, but it's flesh memory... well these people really made some work on fast powering... but I don't believe in the 8 seconds ****, or at least when your computer gets a couple of months old...

  • One more thing: ROM is not going to lose data even if you don't power it for years. It's like your super nitendo's cartridge (they are ROMs)

  • Venom4u31: I don't think you understand what's going on here. Linux is being loaded from flash or EEPROM, as has been stated by others since you made this post. It's possible and it's doing it. If you have a high end Sony TV it runs Linux, and it turns on just as fast. There aren't a bunch of programs loading in the background because there are no programs that need to load in the background. Once it's up, it's up.

  • There aren't initially but you will get them installed after some time; that's what I said earlier. But you are right; it will eventually start in 8 sec; it's possible; but it's best to stay out of the new hardware until it gets its problems fixed from the best testers; the customers... I had this problem every single time with new appeared hardware and I only buy them only if I have no other choice... I don't want to make you people make any choice...Doing what do you want to do is good enough.

  • that is so cool! I'm getting it this summer

  • can you update the express gate os?

  • it's a os ? or laptop with linux?

  • Its software
