  • all of the other guys look like assholes

  • @Sanch1551 what other guys?

  • Ihsahn is an incarnation of pure awesomeness.

  • it totally blows live.....not less to say...noteven the same musicicans....:(

  • i would b going absolutey nuts if i was there...weak crowd

  • How awesome is it that the bassist of Leprous is my music teacher :)

  • @Sverreml Halvor or their new bassist? I have the same with their drummer. Really talented guys!

  • @andreutzac i have Halvor :)

  • @Sverreml then make sure you learn the most from him. You're lucky :)

  • what a masterpiece

  • This is Emperor not Ihsahns project.

  • @mkmoloch How do you know that?

  • @andreutzac Because this song is on Emperors The Discipline of Fire and Demise. You know that, so why put Ihsahn instead of Emperor?

  • @mkmoloch And when a band plays a cover of a song, do you tag the original band? The guy plays by the name of Ihsahn now with a completly different lineup than in Emperor. Well, except the keyboard player. But still, I cannot tag this Emperor. It would be wrong

  • @andreutzac Well I would, considering Ihsahn was the real force behind Prometheus and that's pretty obvious listening to his solo material and Zyklon. Prometheus might as well have been a Ihsahn album.

  • @mkmoloch so if you see a video from Zyklon for example, do you tag it Ihsahn? For me this was an Ihsahn concert and not an Emperor one. I could as well tag Leprous since the band he plays with is called Leprous. Again, it wouldn't be real.

  • @andreutzac Well of course I wouldn't say that, because Ihsahn isn't even in Zyklon. Though Ihsahn was pretty much the only hand in Prometheus. I mean think of it this way: When a band only has one original member, do they change the name of the band? Of course not.

  • @mkmoloch it is an emperor song but not emperor performing it. that is why it is uploaded as ihsahn not emperor

  • This song reminds me of "Empty"

  • Jeg og venninnen min stod helt fremst på den konserten! ;D

  • clean vocals are not very good

  • clean vocals are not very good i'm sorry

  • i can't believe i'm seeing this song live... so happy. One of my fave's from my fave emperor album.

  • isnt it empror?

  • Most Excellant! I'm so happy to hear this live, finally! Thanks for filming and uploading!

  • ihsahn is a fuckin legend & genius - absolutely adere him !!!

  • He does many parts of clean singing live, just not every parts. The Scarab video is a good example. He already plays his complicated guitar riffs and solos. He can't does it all. He's human, after all.

  • La langue en feu !!

  • késako, mes tongues en feu ?

  • Awesome show! And I can see someone with a Vried shirt, hehe.

  • thanks man for filming this, this is one of my favourite emperor's song. I wish i was here.

  • No problem, except the fact I'm a woman :p

You can see Ihsahn at Inferno festival btw, now at the end of March

  • woah 3 guitars going!? nice!

  • Wooooooooooooooooow!

  • Amazing! I love Ihsahn an Leprous! :D

  • ihsahn master of masters emperor forever

  • congrats, this cover sounds great!!

  • wow

  • god damn they are tight live. sounds exactly like the record

  • 5* for ihsahn = god for playing this...

and yes the crowd sucks there

  • AHAHAHAHAHA does anyone know who that keyboardist is? He's the same guy that was with Emperor at Wacken. Nothing against his vocals, but they just have a kind of power-metal zeal that sounds so goofy with Emperor's music.

  • thats his brother n law

  • @ratcoat I wonder why Ihsahn doesn't sing the clean parts (when two vocals aren't needed)...

  • @TrevortIn

If your singing guttural or fry or any type of tight throat singing it can be hard to switch to clean vocals quickly and visa versa

  • No doubt, but with all the experience he has, it's only natural to expect he learned to deal with that. There are many vocalists much younger than him without that kind of problem. ;-)

  • @ratcoat Ihsahn's live band is an actually band called Leprous.

  • I'm shocked at how lame the crowd is. This is the king of black metal they're witnessing. I'd be flipping out.

  • I wouldn't call him the king of black metal. He's more like the emperor ;)

  • @Alienspider1 Very true. The emperor indeed \m/

  • @Alienspider1 essentially he's the elvis of black metal

  • none can replace TRYM

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

    AMAZING!! ;)

  • One of the greatest metal riffs at 3:59. Fantastic. Hail Emperor

  • that whole album is the greatest metal riff, shit is epicly insane

  • none of them have much in the way of stage presence but it's an Emperor song!!!

  • May I ask what type of camera you recorded this with?

  • Panasonic Lumix TZ6

  • so who did the clean vocals on the song.... Ihsahn or Einar?

  • good question...and my memory doesn't help. Maybe some other viewer would know the answer and write it here.

  • Einar did the the clean vocals

  • Thanks

  • I have to ask... Did Mikael come out to play with Unhealer???? That would be fucking Godly... People would die.

  • unfortunately no :(

  • Lmao @ the guy who comes in at 1:00 and stares at the camera area for a while.

  • lol Ihsahn's like the only one NOT headbanging. I guess he's too good for headbanging :-)

  • its hard to play AND sing AND headbang at the same time

  • Of course- I refer to the several instrumental parts in "Tongue of Fire." Here he is just playing as are the other musicians and sometimes he is almost the only one not headbanging

  • First, the other musicians are all under 25 of age, and second, headbanging doesn't suit Ihsahn well, he's not that type of performer.

  • Oh sure, and I have no problem with him not being that type of performer (but in his earlier Emperor live performances he did headbang)- I was only making an observation.

  • Yes, when he was seventeen, but even there, he doesn't headbang so much. It's not too good for the brain whatever, if I had a brain like his, I wouldn't headbang so much, it's so precious

  • Comment removed

  • Except that Ihsahn has never burned a church, and that's for sure. He had also a brain back then.

  • ihsahn never burn anything.he was away from all this things happened those years.when others go around to burn something hestay at his cabin & compose the collosal opus "in the nightside eclipse"

  • You sir, are an idiot. Ihsahn did not take part in the burnings. That would be Samoth and Tchort and Faust.

  • amazing video! i think (correct me if im wrong) the keyboardist is the same guy who played wacken with them right? his vocals are amazing

  • Yes, it's the same guy =)

  • I wonder why Ihsahn didn't sing the clean vocals.

  • I wish more Ihsahn lives were on youtube.

  • Interesting as well that Ihsahn seemed to let the rest of the band step more into the foreground here with them doing alot of lead parts and clean singing which (atleast what I've seen from Emperor) he usually does himself.

  • I didn't think this was ever played live!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

  • I wonder how many people in the audianced realised the brilliance they were witnessing (as most probly came for Opeth) Thank you very much for filming this :-)

  • woah ! i didn't know he would play this song live due to its complexity... truly awesome ! what a great interpretation !!! thanks for putting this video.

  • Holy shit, I didn't know he played this. Awesome!

  • the sound is pretty good on your video! thank you for this rare upload!

  • Thanks also :) Enjoy

  • Love Ihsahn, but don't like his band

  • my favourite song from emperor. thank you very much for uploading it, i've benn seeking for a live version for a long time. as always ihsahn is brilliant!

    cheers

  • I meant to record Thus spake the nightspirit but as he said this one is so rare I decided to record it. So you're lucky :p

    Cheers,

    Andrea

  • Yes, lucky me! =)

Did they play "Elevator" from his latest album? That song is....I can't find appropriate words to describe the feeling when I am listening to it. I just can't understand that some people are that creative.

  • Yes, he is.

I'd like to ask about the line-up and the performer of clean voices...

    What would ye say?

  • This group is Opeth and clear voice belongs to Mikael Åkerfeldt who also sing at Ihsahn' song Unhealer from Angl album.

  • Are you sure?

As far as I can see it's keyboard player who sings the clean parts, - and is it Mikael? Mikael is very easy to recognise, his appearance is easy to remember. I don't think this is Opeth, maybe it's Leprous (see video IhsahnRockefeller09)....

  • Erm, I'm sure he/she doesn't speak of this video, but of the next band in the concert.

I like the presence of the keyboard player though.

  • The Ihsahn line-up is the band Leprous and the keyboard player, clean singer is Einar Solberg. Ihsahn was the opening act for Opeth.

  • Ihsahn is god
