I'm from Arizona, never any snow here, hahaha, I'm moving to Bend Oregon in about a Month and people say the snow there is like powder, but Ive never skiied, or snowboarded in my life, if I skate and had past expirience from skateboarding, will snowboarding be alot easier or is it like a completely different thing from skating?

@MichaelSCole8473 it was great. snowboarding was really easy to pick up on, and im not a good skateboarder or surfer and anything close to it. i was practically able to keep up with some of them by the end of it, just tricks will have to wait a few more trips. Good luck and tell me how it goes

I have gone snowboarding several times and always thought I should be goofy.  They say if someone pushes you from the back, whatever foot you use to brace yourself with is your dominant side, so I thought that was it. I always had trouble keeping balance until I tried riding Regular. Apparently thats what is right for me.

I still skate goofy though. I dont know why, i just feel so unnatural skating regular.

Is it hard to switch from skiing to snowboarding? I'm a pretty good skier (blacks and up) but wanna try snowboarding Is it gonna Harder to switch for me?

@redneckboy546 I made the same transition. It's not hard. Actually the hardest part about it is not learning snowboarding but accepting the fact that you're not immediately going to be as good as you were on skis. If you're used to cruising on the black terrain and your then struggling not to fall on red or blue, it can be a bit frustrating. I've seen many good skiers give up on snowboarding after a few days because they don't want to invest a lot of time getting good at something new.

the first 30 mins i was there i had a bad time and almost gave up. i almost lost confidence but i had faith in myself. i ended up doing really good and didnt fall by the 3rd time try until the end of the day. Be confident, falling will happen. but damn, I AM FUCKING SORE ALL OVER. shiit. lol

Went snowboarding today for the first time. Feel like I got run over by a truck. A lot of fun with a lot of falls. Just have to keep getting up. Second run was 200% better than the first, third run was way better then the third and the fourth just about killed me as I was beat. I skated for years and thought it'd be an easy transition but it was a tough day.

@scooby172 I went back this weekend and had a blast. I booked a lesson to undo the bad habits and got the basics down. End of the day I was doing turns and didn't fall nearly as much. Wish I'd got the lesson last week. Live and learn. I tore those bunny slopes up! Dodging 4 year olds keeps you sharp.

I watched this video series a few years back and it learned me to snowboard!

I jut watched it and then learned all the thinks he said by righting it down and keeping the paper wit me for when I forgot some things...

whenever I had a hard time I took he paper and red it to make sure I did everything I needed too do...

after two afternoons of practicing all of the things... I started at doing a pretty good job on my board!

Yep. I skate too and it helps alot with your gliding. I got my first lesson this winter and by the second time I was out there I was already off the bunny hill and onto the ski-lift. the only thing that is hard for me, is how to stop. Its kinda difficult.
