I just read the end of Night while I listened. I consider myself a hard militarily effiicient man with a tough mentality, but I tears flowed freely down my face.
I've only seen this movie once, but have listened to the soundtrack many times over the years.
Watching this video made me realized I had allowed the music to become detached a bit from the movie it was composed for, and that the music is much stronger when watched in context (via short clips here).
This just melt's my heart. It's amazing how music is able to do that, it make's you not only see but hear beautify in place's you really don't think about.

My grand-parents on my fathers side were part of the Danish resistance, my maternal grand-father fought on the eastern front for the Germans. Actually, hearing anyone try to compare the Israeli-Arab conflict to the Nazi's makes me want to vomit. From 1948 to 2009 there have been about 14,500 casualties combined in the Israeli-Arab conflict. The Nazis shot 18,000 Jews on November 3, 1943 at Majdanek concentration camp plus many other thousands at 2 other camps on the same day. There is hardly any comparison. (That's not counting the million gassed at Auschwitz or the other approx. 1000 camps.)

The movie outlines the life of Oskar Schindler, a German business-owner in the time of Nazi Germany; he claimed to need workers for his factories, and since strapping, young Aryan men were 'above' doing factory work, he sort of used this as a way to save a rather large amount of Jews from the camps. While he starts off being married to money and not caring what will come of the Jews if nobody helps, he eventually comes

@xvise66 to the shocking realization that those Jews who were being viciously persecuted were people as well; I haven't seen the movie in quite a while, but it isn't the type of thing that ever really leaves you. The movie is difficult to watch for some people; it is gruesome and extremely depressing, but there is something beautiful in it: Schindler's growing of a heart. Near the end of the movie, if I remember right, he breaks down in front of all the Jews who worked in his factories, crying

He wishes he could save more, and it truly breaks his heart that he didn't; one particular line from the film that has never left me and most likely never will was "Th-this pin! I guess a way to put it would be disturbing, but it is more heart-shattering than anything; the movie ends with color footage of modern-day Schindler Jews (the Jews he saved with his factories or their children/grandchildren/descendents) placing rocks upon Oskar Schindler's grave. One of the greatest movies ever written, about one of the darkest hours of humanity. I am so glad it had the best actors, the best director and the best music score writer to accompany it.
Everyone should be made to watch this movce. Humanity must never be allowed to do this again, under any circumstances. Remember, it was not just Jews that were persecuted. Mentally unwell, disabled, homosexuals and gypsies no name but the ones I know.. We owe it to our humanity.

I've only seen this movie once, but have listened to the soundtrack many times over the years.
Watching this video made me realized I had allowed the music to become detached a bit from the movie it was composed for, and that the music is much stronger when watched in context (via short clips here).

How encouraging to see that most of the comments to this video are serious reflections on nazis, WW2 and ethical and phillosophical questions. My grand-parents on my fathers side were part of the Danish resistance, my maternal grand-father fought on the eastern front for the Germans. To say the least I was raised under the spectre of WW2, but thank God for that. In the morning and at the going down of the sun we will remember them, ALL of them!
