  • I used to have the black one back in the day :/ cant find it now though

  • @squizylegendarytrio, the slow button works on GoldenEye 007. It just automatic fast start button.

  • does the joystick on the super pad 64 gets loose like the normal N64 one?

Seriously the friggin joystick in the n64 controller is worst joystick ever!!

  • After my official controllers analog went all smooshy, I ended up with 4 of these beauties, It was 20 quid for one N64 controller, and only 5 quid each for these. Best purchase EVER!!!

  • i bought this at thrift store for $2 i prefer this one also, the joy stick is girm not like the other ones

  • How would u play Goldeneye with this?

  • @Megalodon64 what do you mean?

  • @MrGAMEMON11 cause you need the D pad to move and its right above the stick

  • @Megalodon64 Not true. There's a few different control schemes in goldeneye. You can either move with the c-pad and look with the joystick or move with the joystick and look with the c-pad, basically...but there's a few variations. You don't HAVE to play with the d-pad at all.

  • so there's my desicion. i'm gonna get one

  • These are so cool. A retro gaming store has two of those, but they want $29.99 EACH.

    I are sads.

  • @vampyrezombiedragon Take em' both. That's a steal. I had 3 of these back in the day and imo they're much better than what N came out with. They weren't that much cheaper back in the day if I remember right.

  • i actually preferred that controller, especially for fps

  • would love to see it compared with hori mini one.

  • I have one of these and i got it for free!!

  • Anybody know where I can get one of these Super Pad 64's new (still in the box)?

  • the slow motion thing actually pauses the game and unpauses the game over and over really fast and we all know what auto does. just lets you designate a button for it

  • @PsiloCybinDreamX I thought auto was for auto fire.

  • @BFKAnthony817 yeah thats what I meant

  • @BFKAnthony817 It is for auto fire. You press it then press the button you want to be auto. Then just hold the button you designated down for the effect.

  • @PsiloCybinDreamX you beat me to it lol. I was just about to repeat you. :P

  • I remember that guy :) oh those were the days! awesome upload!

  • I used to rent that controller when I needed an extra controller (when a friend came over etc...) And it was great. I almost always ended up using it and leaving my normal controler to my friends

  • DUDE it was made for a KID!!!! NOT a 25 year old and the slow button just makes the game pause and unpause really fast like slowmo

  • A week ago I buy a N64 and it comes with this controller. It's not that bad but I preefer the original one.

  • The slow and the other buttons are the turbo buttons, they're meant to speed up the game and slow it down.

  • Been looking for third party controllers with good sticks. Cheers!

  • awwwwwwww damn...recently went back to my n64, just for fun...and it was ridiculous...Goldeneye and wrestling would be a much smoother experience with that controller!!!

  • coolnice disign

  • slow make the game pause again and again

  • I had that controller... I broke it.

  • slow and auto is for masturbation

  • the super pad slow button hacks the game when u press it ive tried and i own the super pad 64

  • Im going to sell some of mine, how much are they worth? :)

  • Man I miss the super pad controller. I remember buying it for 10 dollars at best buy at 4th grade. It was really great.

  • I have one of these controllers I got at a thrift shop. its a bit odd to hold.

  • i have one of these and its kinda jitery is there anyway to fix that

  • did he call the n64 analog stick .......... tight?

  • I don't feel like reading through all the comments to check but, in case nobody's told you yet, you can program with the auto button to rapid fire whatever button you're holding down, and slow just hits start a bunch of times. Usually games have a start menu though so it doesn't really work with most games

  • i hate this bloody controller when i was little it was the controller the loser always got and becuase i was never very good at games i would always get it the top of the joystick poped off leaving me to move around with a prickly metal stick

  • Hey! I have a Super Pad 64 too! And it is still holding :)

But Transfer Packs (for games such as the pokemon games) wont work on the Super pad, atleast on not mine anyways.

Still an awesome controller, and nice video on comparing the orginal and the super pad ;)

  • in Super mario 64, press slow and the game goes to slowmotion

  • In my opinion, I'd stick to the original because it just looks better and you never use the L button in half the games.

  • I have the first version of this controller which doesn't have the turbo or slow buttons. It was one of my favorite controllers as a kid and still is to this day.

  • on star fox 64 press auto and get rapid fire

  • does the anolog stick break easily?

  • I like both sides :p

  • INTERACT IS BADASS!!

  • i used to have one of those!

  • I WANT ONE

  • i have this....but never used it lol

  • I have like four of these hehehehe, but I got them a really long time ago. I like the original controllers better though for some reason.

  • auto means when u press it then a button it repeatedly keeps on pressing that same but u pressed really fast its nice for games like mario party 2.

  • This controller is awesome for racing games!

  • I had that controller, overall it wa sgood except i didn't find the grips all that comfortable, and the Z button was WAY to tough to press down

  • I used to own this controller. I preferred this over the stock N64 controller, big time.

Slow button rapid-fires the start button so it pauses and unpauses over and over again. It's not really good for anything.

Auto on the other hand, is turbo fire. You hold the Auto button and then hold any other button on the controller. Release them, and the other button will rapid fire if you hold the button down. I used to play Starfox that way =p

  • i was watching classic game room and i wanted to what another review and i clicked on this one by accident. I usually would click back but i like this review. Most unknown reviewrs suck but your really good bro. Keep it up

  • Do they fit in a wii?

  • @Alvin940 Sadly, no...N64 controller jacks won't fit your Wii system. Only Gamecube controllers.

  • what company makes it?

  • I consider this controller better than the official n64 controller and when get another N64 again this is a must buy.

  • I'm assuming auto is turbo.

  • It is an amazing controller.

  • Slow - Probably makes it pause/unpause soo fast it seems slo mo.

Auto - Probably makes it so when you hold down a button it presses it again and again real fast, to make semi-auto guns shoot like mad.

  • @legofans452 That's exactly what it does.

  • I have 3 of these. Never really used them though. I should probably give it a shot.

  • Oh yeah! I played through Ocarina of Time on one of these bad boys! Great memories... Oh and the slow feature just made it press start rapidly. Sounds dumb, and... it was.

  • ya i bought one at a flee market and i had to clean it out as well but overall great controller

  • holy crap. i had one of those when i was five. never used it because i could never figure it out. god damn. thanks man

  • The parts on the analog stick are made of metal but trust me, it will wear out super fast.

  • auto is your turbo button, mostly good for space ship shooters but clearly the n64 lack those...

  • I have two Super Pads, I don't think I realized how rare they really are, I've had them for as long as I can remember. One has since almost completely stopped working... But they were definately the best N64 controllers you could use.

  • i can appreciate you've got the camera in your left hand, but i really wanted to see you holding the controller with both hands. It's hard to imagine how exactly you hold the thing with its asymmetric shape. At a funny angle i'm guessing.

  • my super is diffent, it doesnt have the left and right thing where yo hold it and thats the ony difference. Your looks more bad ass than mine

  • I found out that the Turbo is actually used for any button to activate the Turbo you just hold turbo then press any button as for slow it just pauses the game I tested a 3rd party controller (a different one) it's kinda similar but different shape.

  • the right side of the new one look ALMOST like a playstation controller :P. nintendo was close to something funtional.

  • yo dude the turbo button actually does work with every game but you're not using it correctly, press and hold the turbo button down then press another button and the light will turn on indicating that button is now turbo.

you can do it with multiple buttons try it, its amazing and useful at times

  • the slow and fast buttons when you turn on your n64 press the fast then a then it will go really fast same with slow except it goes slow it works on super mario 64

  • i have a makopad, which is shaped exactly the same, and the turbo button works wonderfully for the Starfox 64 lol.

  • I'll have to get multiple controllers like this. Should feel better playing FPS's like Goldeneye. And a better stick adds to that.

  • this controller is $8 on amazon(DOT)com

  • The d-pad could be perfect for Turok. But is the stick as precise as the original controller? (I hope my English is correctly)

  • @Squadalha I havent used this stick since back when the 64 days were ending. I bought the stick and Harvest moon 64 the same day, and it was honestly the best controller for the 64. After using this stick you wont want to go back to the old one trust me. If i pick up another 64 down the line, I will def be picking up another of these!

  • It truly is a great controller, but my super pad has a problem with the joystick. It seems like it's just not calibrated correctly, and will move your character/cursor to the left just ever so slightly, but this can create big problems during game play. Anybody have any tips??

  • @chrihsahn Open it up. The analog stick assembly might have slipped in its socket. Pop it back in place and close the controller. Worked for me.

  • hey could u tell me what the slow and auto buttons are for?

  • I have a Super Pad 64 Controller the Slow Button works for me it just like the Tapping the Start Button Endlessly after you press it but the Auto Button never worked at all

  • Nice Controller. I hate the regular N64 ones :(

  • "slow" Forces the game to quickly pause and unpause continuously, creating a Frame-by-frame slow play effect. "auto" is similar to the well known "turbo" mode.

  • By the way, Slow is the old rapid-fire start button slow motion (which wouldn't work for games nowadays) and the way Auto works is that you hold the Auto button, then push the button you want to have auto-fire on. Insanely useful feature (most controllers have auto-fire that's for all or none of the buttons).

I've been repairing the one I have for years (soldering, cannibalizing parts from other controllers, etc), but it finally kicked the bucket for good today. :(

  • I've been using the SuperPad 64 Plus for well over a decade now and honestly it's one of the best designs ever devised (up there with the Saturn Pad and the Dual Shocks). I've used it for years on the Adaptoid n64-to-USB adapter they came out with back in '02.

  • i had 4 controllers,

    grey

    atomic purple

    red (super huge and bulky)

    and the super pad.

why couldnt the n64 have the standard controller be the superpad. it is so much more confortable!

  • Wow, dude!!!

    This controller seems amazing!!!

Does it workd like a "normal" one??

Where did you buy it, man??

  • Yea, it works great and with all N64's. I got it off ebay just search super pad 64 and it should come up if there are some available

  • That's amazing, my friend!!!

I will search for one of them, althought I don't know if I can get one because I'm from Mexico, and sometimes users don't send outside the USA!!!

By the way, do you know what brand manufactures it??

  • According to the back of the controller "InterAct" made it.

  • @omaralex12

Just use ebay, someone there's bound to ship to Mexico. Also this comment's a year old but whatever

  • Very cool video, I think I have seen these before, but I've never played with one or anything like that, sounds pretty interesting. The metal joystick also sounds like a very good selling point, as far as your slow and auto, your auto should be autofire for your buttons, so if you hold B the controlelr will register that you're pretty B repeatedly, but it might not be functioning anymore. As far as slow, it actually repeatedly "presses" the start button, to "slow" the game, it's pretty dumb.

  • Also thank you for the video response, I'm going to peek around your channel a bit, this video is very promising for the rest of your content.
