maybe I need re-education after what I'm about to type, but here goes, I stuck my left hand out the car window to show the agent my driver license and told him I'm a U.S. citizen. Now every time I go through a checkpoint in New Mexico I gat waved through but in Texas I get detained or be given the third degree. Well on 9-4-10 a guard yelled at me and told me to put my hand in the car window, I found it to be rude and uncalled for. I got detained for 40 minutes.

No go ahead and apply. For some reason they just rolled over mine and I got screwed. The test is easy I got a 92. I mean, its easy, but it has some tougher things on it but its mostly common sense. If you speak Spanish your time at the academy is cut IN HALF and you will get the job easier. Just as long as your background is clear. NEVER lie. Good luck man.

This goes for becoming a Border Patrol Agent. Once you get hired you have to complete the Border Patrol academy. The academy is 4 months if you speak Spanish or 6 if you don't. On average out of 50 people that EOD per class, only half will graduate and continue to the next phase of training. Post academy training goes on for another year during which time even little mistakes can cost you your job. For some this training/process is easy for most it is not. (Much easier to become a CBP Officer)
