  • I just came across you "Page of Pain" and let me say, thank you! I also have a son, and now I feel that I've been cast out, like on and Ice Flow some where in the Artic. Your process, the words, I applaud. I understand exactly what you've talked about! Keep it up, and thanks for the encouragement.

  • Mahria, thank you for posting this video on your channel. I am glad that it helped you in some way. I was really having a horrible time dealing with this abrupt and unexpected chasm which had developed between my son and I. Sp I just kept doing my art and living my life and leaving him alone....as difficult as that was.

The good news is that we now talk on the phone....matter of fact, I just got off the phone with him after 1 1/2 hours of yakking. We talk about once a month!

  • Deb, this touched me, I dont know what happened with you and your son. But I hope things work out or heal or mend between you both. You are a very special lady did you give that to him. Such a gift if you did. I wish I could catch each tear you cry im sorry I cant be there with you sometimes and give u a hug. If u need to talk im here ok? Thinking of u let me no your okay?

    Sherry

  • Sherry, I'm doing much better now. Creating the artwork really was therapeutic for me. Creating always does that for me. But I think it does for everyone....it's our way of communicating our feelings to the world....good or bad......

    Thank you, honey bunny!

  • PAINFUL. regret , self-doubt and mid- life crisis, put on a single page and preserved to remind you and never forget that you had a painful life. WIERD.

  • hi Deb, there is an excellent book called Meeting the Shadow with chapters about relationships of mother/son father/daughter and so forth. the writings are from such people as Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung etc. I found it very enlightening......perhaps you will too.. ........J

  • Thanks so much, JW!!! I appreciate that very much.

I read quite a bit of Jung back in the 70's. Interesting theories he has.....

  • Those are all really great ideas.... your very original....

  • Thank you, William! keep your brushes wet!l

  • so créative

    Super

  • Merci beaucoups!

  • Wow, great work on the eye! I was gaping at it with my mouth open, very cool how it changes color!

Sorry to hear about your family issues though. I can relate. With me it's my dad who kind of preferres my brother. I get along fine with my mom. I took a whole year "off" from my dad. we are on telephone chat basis now, which is fine. Yeah, family, eh?

  • hehehe Families do, indeed, have their issues. I have never known one family where everyone got along equally well.

    Thanks for watching!

  • * * * * *

  • Much appreciated!!

  • ...very nice. :)

  • Thank you, Nick!

  • l love your expression of art based on pain- what a wonderful way to let out your emotions......some people get it bottled in...it is good to let it flow out through art.....

  • You are right! I also use the method of throwing myself on the floor and having a tantrum to alleviate my painful emotions. hehehehe

  • Just love watching your videos.tfs :)

  • Oh boy! I love hearing that!

  • It kind of reminds me of the all seeing eye. I like it is pretty cool!!!!! And sorry about what has happened in your life. Be strong!!!! TFS :)

  • Thanks, sweeitie! I'm doing much better now. Feel soooo lucky to be able to create art and work thru difficult experiences with it.

  • Hope everything's alright Deb, beautiful artwork, I am loving the details on your "Blondie" as you call her!

  • Thank you, Lori! I'm planning to do a series of small nudies in oils later this year. I need the practice on painting the human form.....

  • That was really good , I love to art journal for the joy of it and the fun , but when I first started art journaling it was to release my pain i was going through and it does help , I always say its a therapy for the good times and the bad . Thanks for sharing and releasing your pain with us here . : )

  • So right you are! Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • Touches me deeply :-(

  • Thanks for watching, sweetheart!

  • thank you for sharing your journal page..sending you hugs jan

  • Thanks, Jan!

  • Thank you for sharing Deborah. I like your page - especially the little hands and feet, and the idea you had doing the eye color. I have 'issues' with my mother also, and always have. We are like water and oil. I think we both try but it SO rarely is a good conversation, sadly.

  • Thanks, Angie! Yeah, those little hands and feet are the cutest things ever! I love babies, so it's a good reminder of them.

Most of the females I know have difficult relationships with their mothers. I was always jealous of the gals who had a strong bond with theirs when I was younger. You know...the ones that shop together, giggle and laugh. My cousins do that with my aunt....they have a blast!!

  • Thank you for sharing your page of pain...I am def going to make my own! And I thought I was the only daughter who never did anything right...do we have the same mother?

  • hehehehe...that's a good one! Fortunately, Mom and I finally worked things out before she died 6 years ago. I just kept my yap shut, learned how to smile and nod, and waited on her like royalty.

It might not be a bad idea for us to keep a separate journal called Pages of Pain, and then just fill it up as we go thru life, eh?

  • it's a beautiful piece of art, thank you very much for sharing it with us!!!

  • Mary, your Avatar video gave me my first chuckle for today. Thanks! I had to give you 5* for your outfit. I'll bet you have never been blue before!

  • haha aww, thank you very much!

no i hadn't, but i had been black and white before :D i love dressing up, hehe.

  • :) Welcome back:) It was nice that you were able to work a bit of the pain out on paper ... I think it is better than talking, at least for me when I have to let things out. Bottling it up eventually makes you burst! Your journal is so very well done, are you putting a gloss spray on top?

  • hehehehe...we muthas have to stick together, huh?

I haven't sprayed the pages, no. I'm concerned that they might stick together and get tacky....it's really humid down here. I'm going to coat them with something, but not sure what yet.

  • scrappy hugs dear

  • Thanks for watching!

  • We all need to do pages of pain fr time to time. Hope it helped!

  • It did, indeed....just took a bit of time. Forget videoing....hehehe. I was a mess!

  • Broken heart?

  • My son moved 700-800 miles away.........

  • great honest journal page, I really like it. I dont use mine often but when I do it is for a release. Thanks for sharing

  • Thank you! Your fairy art is very gorgeous and compelling. Makes me want to paint fairies!!!

  • tfs :)

  • Thank you, Lily!

  • thanks for sharing this piece of art with us! must have been good therapy to throw it out on to paper

  • It certainly helped ease the pain a bit. I just could NOT get it together to video when I first began making that eyeball. Really rough days!

  • it was very strong of you to share this with us, my thoughts are with you

  • thats a beautifully made page

  • Thank you, Kostas! What will you be videoing next?

  • i have an idea of mixing jokes with art for my next project. hope you like when its ready
