  • Fedor was always the fat guy who beat everybody and Anderson is the skinny guy who beat everybody. Love it. I'm gonna miss them when they're gone because I don't think we're gonna be seeing top fighters built like the average Joe in this era.

  • ele ta lutando cagadooo !

  • silva big time lost!!!! i donno what match the judge was watching???

  • @cryme101 dunno what uve been watching. at the end silva helps the other one up. and just look at how silva walks away and how bruised the other one is...

  • @SmokingBirds you should be asking you're self that alot of people bruise easily and if you dont believe me ask one of you're skinny ass friends to hit you an see the results also the other guy was scoring points for every take down if you knew about the rules then we wouldn't be having this convo. Unless where there are at the dont judge by points....which is lamee

  • APANHO PRA CARAI !!!

  • what a shitty ass ref that guy was knocked out cold at the end of the fight!

  • Some of the best boxers are physically odd. Thomas 'the hitman' hearns was really tall and thin, but was considered the hardest punching welterweight ever, and moved all the way up to cruiserweight.

  • silva changed his style. this looks almost like an old wing chun style and now he uses a jkd, muay thai mix

  • Fryklund - Belfort - Griffin disliked this video.

  • lol now i see why he's The Spider

  • the same I thought

  • Silva looks like Skeletor here.

  • @FireProMMA --um skeletor was buff lol

  • Anderson looks hungry lol

  • St Pierre is the best in the world and looks like he's sculpted out of granite.

  • anderson has become so much more fluid n precise fighter within the past 10yrs its amazin wat being consistant n dedicated 2 sumin duz

  • wish Anderson had a little more JJ, ....

  • @cristiank91 you know this fight was 11 years ago right? anderson's a bjj black belt now. that's not enough jj for you?

  • 1:02

Credo veio ta parecendo a Lacraia lutando aff!

  • your kidding right? he is insanely cut here. must have took some work to get in that phsyical condition

  • He has a VERY low fat percentage here. I've never seen him no where near this tonement in his later career :0

  • Its amazing how Anderson was working that rubber guard so long ago. It is just becoming used often in MMA right now. It shows how far ahead of his time he was. Great fight, and I learned some things.

But heres a note; Notice how he laid back EXACTLY like he did against Chael Sonnen. I think he is that confident in his Jui-Jitsu and he should be.

  • Kato fought pretty good here. He should be very proud that he did well against the future great UFC champ. Saipan is lucky to have him there as an instructor.

  • he was done once anderson got him in the rubber guard. Anderson's ground game is good.

  • @Smileyfacedkiller Anderson never applied the rubber guard, at the time of this fight Bravo hadn't even "invented" it yet. He did have him in a triangle choke at the end when he was pounding on him though.

  • Wow, ten years ago! Very interesting. Props to Kato for SURVIVING 3rds with Anderson! Wonder what Kato is doing these days (we know what Anderson is up to....)?

  • Kato was getting whupped in silva's guard

  • eo brasilllll porraaa

  • kato would be proud of having fighted against silva now...

  • it's dead simple for a fighter to win over Silva .. he must be a wrestling and a jujitsu perfectionist and he must have a shit load of stamina ..

  • @mnthol if chael sonnen and damien maia had a kid, then maybe it could beat anderson.

  • 相手を気遣う余裕さえ見せるアンデウソンはさすがだ

  • Anderson silva,King Of UFC!!

I think he's the best fighter in the world!!

  • maluco é zica memo nego

  • How much did Silva weigh in this fight? 160-170?

  • Comment removed

  • @inerfyr 77kg, 170lbs, welterweight

  • Isn't it kind of amazing that two of the greatest fighters in the world (fedor and anderson) don't look physically to be particularly impressive physical specimens... and yet their dominance in fighting has been so absolute?

    I think it's remarkable.

  • BJ Penn goes to that category as well

  • @RJackson808 bodybuilders would get kill'd in professional fights in 2minuts. Polish marius pudzianowski is good example.

  • @RJackson808 no....fuck that...they may be particularly skilled but I appreciate a fighter who has the discipline to condition their body to the fullest. If you had 2 fighters who possessed a similar caliber of skill go up against each other....the better conditioned of the two would win..hands down. By any chance are you not in the best shape? =/

  • @esosj It's not that they're not in good shape, being well toned has nothing to do with the sort of condition they're in and that is what he's talking about. Some people can't get the sort of tone others can and some people use roids to get it.

  • @RJackson808 fedor is nothing

  • @RJackson808 You are right. But Silva has no unneccessary muscles with long arms and legs. ..ideal for taxing sports like MMA. Extra muscles look imposing but consume extra oxygen. His body type fighters would be dominating MMA soon. Jones, Pettis, Aldo are good examples.

  • @RJackson808 Appearance is nothing in fighting. Nick Diaz i a beast but on the beach he would looks like a simple nerd. Moreover, fighting doesn't build you a strong and good-looking body. Look at the UFC weigh ins, nice bodies are rare.

  • @shibuyagto Most fighters don't look like fitness models because they don't train for looks, they train the parts of their body that they would use the most for fighting. Fighting doesn't give you a strong body, training does. But even so, you'd be hard pressed not to find a professional fighter that doesn't look impressive physically.

  • @ofFanelia Yeah I know, I do Muay thai and sambo :). And it's pretty hard to get a good body with this. In Pancrace (we don't have MMA in France.....) a lot of people, especially in the light divisions, have an ugly body because the only thing they do is fighting. To avoid a shitty body, I workout 30 min a day when i do not have training, and i do 1H of swimming a week.

  • @RJackson808 First of all fedors not one of the greatest fights of all time, but more importantly, anderson silva is a impressive physical specimen man, he's probably in the top 1 percent of the world in terms of fitness. He's fast and strong and simply put, thats why he wins

  • @RJackson808 To the untrained eye it's remarkable, these guys spend more time training in technique and knowledge and the mental aspect of Martial Arts than the "look at my six pack" aspect.

  • that is silva u idiot!!!

  • i dont think thats anderson

  • lol fucking skinny ass anderson

  • @jackass77780 this fucking skinny ass would fucking pwn ur ass :D

  • @jackass77780 that isnt really how anderson looks hes atleast 50+ those pounds when he isnt fighting but, yes around that time thru 2005 or so he was skinny fighting at 170

  • @jackass77780 lol n he wud knock all of us out n probably the whole gym too lol

  • wasnt silva on his back most of the time?

  • fedor walks at 230 silva 220 fedor is also max 6 foot and hes fat so they are not far from each other less than mir lesnar for instance

  • Well it wouldn't be wise to base Anderson's ground defense on his match with Kato simply because it was so long ago and Anderson is leaps and bounds a better fighter now than he was then. He's even eons better now than he was just three years ago. The very reasons such as heart and intense training that you cite for a Fedor victory are attributes that Anderson possesses as well. Anderson's not only a better boxer than Arlovski but has a much better well-tested chin. Anderson by KO if at 205.

  • No offense but I think that every comparing of the IMO most overrated fighter ever - Anderson Silva who is btw around 88 kg and absolutely not strong physically, with someone who is 106 kg and who is so much powerful destructive and so dominant entire his career....is something I cannot take seriously.

I know everything can happen, and sure I wont say for sure, but my personal vision of Fedor vs Silva match is:

a)BRUTAL stand up KO in the first 10 seconds

    b)Brutal Slam KO

    c)Brutal GnP KO

  • i like how silva helped that guy up after beating the shit out of him

  • Beating the shit out of him? IMO he proved nothing else but the fact that he is the most overrated fighter in the universe.

  • Tetsuji Kato is my friend and former teacher. He himself said Anderson Silva is simply phenomenal. His composure, control and pacing in the ring is incomparable. AND that was in 2001!!!! You can't judge how Silva would do against Fedor in an old fight like this. Fighters change and improve as the years go by. It's foolish to call Anderson overrated based on this fight. Shooto has a completely different format for scoring than UFC.

  • I don't think he is overrated cause of this fight, I think he is overrated judging by his entire career.

First, WHOM he fought?(no disrespect to his opponents!)

Second, how many wins and how many losses he has?

Third how many times he was absolutely dominated and got lucky and won(Carlos Newton and Dan Handerson fight)

Thats the answers somebody should answer.

Other than that I think he is good, or even very good, but nothing more than that.

  • @VEGETADTX I'm assuming you don't fight train nor fight, yes Anderson Silver is far from overrated. Become experienced in base fighting then develope an internal understanding and experience on a base scale. You'll speak diifferent I'm sure. However let me save you some time. As a practitioner myself, when many top skilled fighters of many organizations speak of anderson, the conclusion is the same. You my friend are a mere spectator I assume, so your comment befitts you.

  • @Jmarccus

Ok, your opinion, but my conclusion will still stay untouched - Those who talk about Anderson Silva as the best are IMO either UFC businessman which have BENEFITS from prising him, or some biased people who got caught in that "Emperor's New Clothes" story where Dana White is a Clothier and Anderson Silva is a king.

Again no offense to Anderson Silva himself, Dana White is the one who's bad, arrogant, disrespectful, corrupted and overall spoiled materialistic human soul.

  • @VEGETADTX Most fighters do not improve and keep repeating the same mistakes. However, if you see BJ and Anderson's fights chronologically, you will notice that they are improving each time they fight. That is the difference between a good fighter and not a good fighter. This is his first fight in chuuto, bradda. In addition, Kato is really a good fighter, too.

  • great video

  • gotta love the sportmanship and respect lol... anderson is so nice..

  • agree, fedor would make him tap out or knock him out cold him. look at him when he enters the ring n all, it's like he's going shopping in the store or something... haha

  • Anderson would give fedor and pretty good fucking run! fador would not walk all over him!!

  • too much size difference sorry. Fedor would just grab him and squish.

  • Anderson has trouble with good groundfighters, and Fedor would not break a sweat to take Anderson down.

  • Of course it could go either way. All these people cutting Anderson down and treating fedor like god are idiots. fedor is human like everyone else. anderson is a big middleweight walking around at 217-220 lbs. fedor has the edge in a heavyweight fight but if they fight at 205 anderson could be the first person to KO fedor. anyone in denial of that is a damn fool.

  • I think Fedor is WAY too large for Silva. Silva is not that big.

  • Anderson is about 220 walkaround weight. I think Fedor walks around at 250. If they fought at 205 I give the advantage to Silva.

  • Nice old footage. Of course A.S. has greatly improved since then and has also mastered the downward elbow.

  • LOL.. well, he won't beat fedor, but he's still the best in the mid-weight division.

  • huh??? wtf?

is this the "great" Anderson Silva?

the man that, like somebody says, could beat fedor??..

  • look at the year you imbecile. everyone evolves as a fighter. this was one of the earliest fights in Anderson's career and Shooto has a different rules set and pacing than today's UFC events. you can't compare then and now. also, Tetsuji Kato was the top ranked pound for pound welterweight at the time and one of the world's best. he is also my friend. so you're attempt to ridicule anderson is absurd.

  • well, yes. i didnt look at the year.

    just dont worry, not_imbecile_man ;)

  • sorry for sounding harsh. I just get tired of reading the same crap a lot of these guys say like anderson's not really that good! fedor would kill him! both are great fighters and got to where they are because they really just that awesome. you don't achieve the things these guys do being a joke you know what I mean?

  • np! and i am completely agree with all this.

  • props to this comment. fedor and anderson are both absolutely amazing, and it wouldn't be the worst fight to have them together.
