If you like the 1st album by At the Gates, maybe you'll also like Elapse by the Polish band Violent Dirge. It's more atmospheric, more jazzy and darker and less melodic but I recommend it, because I can see some resemblances betweem the two bands – an unconventional and artistic attitude to death metal. Enjoy! This is an example: youtube.com/watch?v=ZfeMwXEZaBc
The City Of Screaming Statues is the capitol if the island nation of evil Wizards Pan Tang in Micheal Moorcock's Elric novels. And this is one KICKASS song.
@mjonas10 which is a great metaphor for modern society, where school is dumbed down and prison-like, jobs are made to accommodate 7 billion people, and nature is a peripheral outlier being slowly covered in concrete.
i think this song is about giving up the painful and dark reality and embrasing madness, in order to create a place where your dreams will come true, where your resolve can change things. your mind is the city, the screaming statues your madness. The Reality of Madness will come true inside the city, but once this happens, you can't get out anymore. You neither want to get out of the city, as it is here, where you have all the answers, where you find strenght and light and lose all fears.

what do you think tomas refers to as "city of screaming statues"?
i've thought of almost every imaginable metaphor but i couldn't come to a conclusion as to what it might be

@flupusbarbosa561
I enterpret it as inability to fulfil your capacities, frustration. Screaming statues; chained entities full of power and will.

Now these are some of the best lyrics I've read and with deep meaning.
Follow your dreams and crush what holds you back is what I think the song is about.
