At that time there was obviously just a few "walkers" and he had a shotgun along with it being just around the corner which I'm sure the kids told him when they got home. He could have told them to lock themselves in the basement or attic and locked the door behind him with the keys in his pocket and took the gun and tried to check on her. What a cowardly douche.

Here was my experience on southern accents. On a drive from my home state of Minnesota to Florida the upper midwest accent ended when I was south of Indianapolis. From southern Indiana through Kentucky, Tennessee and northern Georgia I heard an upper/mountain southern accent. In Atlanta I heard some of a deep south accent but it was watered down alot. And from southern Georgia into northern Florida I got a huge sampling of a deep south accent from black and white folks alike.

I don't know what part of Atlanta you went to or what "southern states" you've been to, but I live in the south and the bulk of people speak with a southern accent. In larger cities in the south, the accent is subtler than in the county, but it's still there and noticeable.

Georgia has one of the largest black populations in the country, and even in the Atlanta scenes, there was a lack of black zombies. It's not that the show's producers aren't southern, it's that they're lazy.

Born in Tennessee lived in georgia till I was nine and and moved to Texas where I remain today.

I visited Georgia and I didnt hear many accents I dont care what you say passes for an accent but hearing the word yall isnt an accent.

Accents were uncommon in the city of Atlanta in my experience.

It could be that you've become numb to hearing it if you've always lived in the south. Over time it's hard to pick up on it if you're used to it. Try visiting California or New England and then go to Atlanta and decide if you don't hear the southern tone in voices.
