continueing from my last comment,then reason i said you do basicly constant damage is because lets say you do the arcaneblast x3 and then arcane barrage,after that you have to wait for that 1sec cd to recharge before doing the missiles,but if you do it my way the arcaneblast and then just missles by the time the missle spell is done castin you can aready get ready to click and begin arcaneblast over for the stack,you wanna keep your damage going as arcane not to stop and wait for a cd

haha well funny thing is for me and my mage i do a crap load of damage....then is what i do i do arcane blast till missle proc and it usually does it ever 2-3 arcane blast cast and then i do missles and then repeat...ppl really dont use the arcane barrage spell unless boss is close to diein and they wanna get a fast spell off..but my way i think you get more dps if you time the arcane blast castin right after the missle cast....cause your doing basicly constant damage...

I never use Barrage after a cycle of Arcane Blasts,then missile cus of the shitty global cooldown + Missile barrage procs often enough but like u said i also just shoot a barrage after 5 or so AB if the proc is being a bitch and not well.. procing

im an acane only use arcane barrage as an opener ive never had a mana problem i also want to point out while sp maybe important u do need a haste quite abit as well cause the more faster ur arcan blast come out the better they be the majority of the damage at least thats how it is for me and i had the highest dps back when fire was supposed to be superior its all about setting up ur stuff right

one little mistake. never use arcane barrage with 4 stacks if you missiles are fast. only use barrage if you misseles aren´t fast with 4 stacks ofc :D

That's not a mistake, that's how you should play.

Doing what you're saying, which is just fishing for MB procs by spamming AB, will run you out of mana.

Clearing a stack with "non-fast" missiles (i.e. no MBarr proc) after a bit of proc fishing (I usually try 1-2 more AB's depending on my mana) is better than clearing it with ABarr.

Hey Kyth and everyone. When you have casted Arcane Blast 3 times and did AM proc, DON'T do AB right after AM, don't do AB also after 3 AB unless there's no AM proc. It will lower your DPS and more mana waste.!!

hm nice video but i dont agree with some of your speccing the magic attunement is a waste of 2 points as well as arcane stability is a waste of 5 points. instead I would place 3 opints in incanters absorption to gain the massive spellpower increase by placing your fire/frost wards and mana shelds on it is definately worth it and has a lot of up time. I would also put 1-2 in student of mind. look at my char spec and you can see im level 78 on this mage but you can see where im headed w/ icyvein

I play arcane mage i use molten armor in pve. and my mage is based on "Spirit+Crit" items... since i get 75% out of my spirit into extra crit. i got 40 % base crit with my arcane mage and 2500 sp.

massive crits and often like 80% of my damage is crits BIG CRITS !

for arcane? not that i know of, the newest simulationcraft shows the dps multiplier for arcane in terms of spelldmg is 1.51 whereas haste is 1.68 (i think) resulting in haste being more important than spelldmg. please correct me if i'm wrong though, i'm very interested in knowing.

Kavan did extensive testing and math that I didn't follow to show that these *were* the only valid rotations. Anything else you were giving up DPS to spend more mana, even if it seemed like a better choice by gut instinct.

3.2.2 is soon though I think, so it's all irrelevent.

In Arcane, Haste is preferable to Crit because with haste, you get Arcane Potency more often, which increases your crit chance by 30% for your next spell. Arcane Potency occurs when you get Clearcasting, a 10% chance. Basically, you'll want around 20% base crit, and with raid buffs and Arcane Potency procs, your real crit will be around 50%.

I dual spec fireball arcane spec. Arcane is really nice for shorter fights like poster said. WHat I hate about fireball spec is that you can't adjust yur DpS/DpM. That's why I love arcane. I can try to make my mana last on long fights in Uld, or hit hard as hell and brun my mana pool on easy fights like Emalon. Oh and to all you mages, T8 2 set lightweave and sundial proc stacked, sexy 20k constant crits during bloodlust. Wish I had had fraps running :(

I was averaging 1500 single target dps as Frost, 1700 as FFB, but 2200 as Arcane. Maybe it's the fact that I have a lot of Haste compared to Crit.

It's because fire (including ffb) takes too long to ramp up and is terrible at short-lived mobs.

Also fire benefits more from raid buffs than the other specs -- meaning it's lower when you don't have them.

I can attest that 57/3/11 is still a great PvE build, unless you're packing mostly BiS gear, then going with something like 18/53/0 would likely be better. If in doubt, try it and see. =)

The only thing I don't like about this spec is not having slow. If you're putting 3/3 points into it, you might as well get slow for the extra 12% dmg. I just take 1 point out of clearcasting, so theres still 4/5 in it, and put that point in slow.

You don't really need slow because torment the weak benefits from targets that are snared, it doesn't mean they have to have Slow on them.

Besides, it decreases your DPS worrying about casting slow every 15 seconds, it may not sound like it, but it does.

cookies to tom slow effects are always present on mobs via frost disease thunder clap judgment of a paly feral druid ffb mages. The 12% is what makes arcane viable as well as fireball(which outscales arcane as you aquire full ulduar gear)

about the points in Ice shards, instead of putting the 2 points there, you could instead put it in Frost warding. At least you can get a small benefit out of it there, is you remember to keep up your frost ward, for example during a fight with Kelly and his dragon

Weenkus is not wrong, unless your close to loosing AP/other dps buffs you should cast, arcane barrage is instant = you have to wait untill you can cast the next arcane blast, if you cast arcane blast first THEN arcane barrage your casting more spells in the same time you could the other way PLUS you get 15-18% (depending on your glyph and the AB stacks) more damage out on the arcane barrage :P

I play on my relatives mage sometimes. He's fire and because of that i stink in pvp. I want him to change to acrane because most amazing mages on pvp are frost or acrane (i dislike frost, but ill do it if i have to). Knowing him, he would say "No, I'm a pure deep fire mage" or something like that. Any advice?

Definitely. There's never any reason to run OOM. google for 'Stratfu' and read the arcane mage guide there for more information about how to adjust your cycles to your mana.
