funny story about Half-life, id seemed to have a small consortium of buddy buddy developers during the 90s where they all liked to exchange ideas about how to program games and how to go about improving their graphical output with the limited technology of the time. Early on Valve were one of these companies. Also Raven software (who are still buddies with id today), a lot of FPS game developers look up on id as their pseudo-parents and hold greater respect for them then even their fans.

It is already possible to get camera bobbing when you walk in Steam version of HL1...you just need to know the console commands and modify them...by default they are very low so it is either barely or not even at all noticeable anymore...

How do I know this? I messed with the commands recently...

you could download HL uplink it still have this... or if you have the original disc of HL ver. 1.0.0.5 then use that *both of what I just mentioned have the swayed camera effect when side stepping in the game*

Dude, it is not the beta but more like a demo made before the game was released to give you a quick peek, because you can't get the one in this video, it was never released.

If we're lucky it'll be given as a bonus on the Half-life 2 Episode 3 DVD, but only time will tell.

But your beta, not anything like in this video, and it's ALMOST the same as the real Half-Life, only thing is there is only software video available and you sway when you strafe, and a few characters are less detailed.

Are you talking about Half-Life: Day One? That is not beta - it's RC4 (Release Candidate 4), check version.txt file it says "OEM.RC4". Or are you talking about Half-Life: Uplink? It's engine is build 830 so it's even newer than retail one (build 738) and it contains cutted out levels...

Yes they were. Quake 2 was released in 1997 when the game was still being developed. They were going to switch to it but decided not too because they had already developed much of the game on the heavily modified Q1 engine.

It's funny how they animated you going up the ladders. More realistic than what it became. But going up the ladders in the beta is not practical and to slow.
