@jam6va I remember that show quite well cause we didn't have cable out in the country lol Great show and there were a ton of awesome artists on there :)
Lee roy Parnell is or was one of the best talents ever. A gifted artist who could kick ass or lay down a soft ballad. A real blessing to american music
This song did the same thing for country music what Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down A Dream" did for Classic Rock. It gave it a great driving song, and a helacious guitar solo!
lee roy parnell kicked and still kicks ass compered to any new shit so to those who say's any negative comments about lee roy parnell...lets see you go and right songs and make meaning out of them and i'll kiss your as
This is one of the BEST country songs EVER made....This song was the theme song for the American version of the TV show ''On the Road'' that aired back in the early ninties.
@tubxyoob Why don't you look him up and see what he's done and who he has worked with. He was one of THE best slide guitar players ever. He influenced a lot of people. All the TALENTED guys in Nashville think this guy is one of the best. IF your gonna piss on him, back it up with something credible.
Great songs and it was when the camera didnt have to love you.....and when your marketing team didnt determine your career. When you where a musician and you could sing!
Lee Roy Parnell, Collin Raye, Vince Gill..... yep, it was a great sound. Saw Vince at the Hollywood Bowl for the July 4th show..... better than ever! Lee Roy is at the Hardrock Cafe, Nashville, Oct, Nov & Dec.
Man, does this song bring back great memories! I was singing this song at karaoke one night, and little did I know Lee Roy himself was in the crowd. He bought me a round afterwards. Hell of a human being as well as a great country artist!
Too funny! I always thought he seemed like he'd be a super nice guy in person, not sure why, since i only know him from his albums and his videos, but he seems like he'd be really cool.
This is the song that got me listening to more country music. I caught parts of it a few times on a local radio station and thought it was Jackson Browne, but knew that station probably wouldn't play Jackson Brown. I kept listening for it to find out who did the song and really started to appreciate more country songs. Thanks Lee Roy for opening my eyes and ears to your talent.
@randyfloyd07 I agree! I was a young boy in the early 90s remembering the great artists on CMT. Quality songwriting, singing, and it was REAL COUNTRY MUSIC. Not fake, like today with a fake twang. I miss this stuff.
Sure reminds me when I was a single man and a legend in my day. Now I'm happily married with a beautiful young daughter that was born shortly after this video came out. Don't know for sure how I came across this video but its awsome as ever, got me toe tapping and smiling from this time in my life. Thanks...
hell yea it is. this song is about as good as you can get, and it would be SHUN if it were released today. too much air space reserved for jessica simpson
I'm only 12 but i know this song off by heart, my dad used to sing this when he was in his band, it is my favourite song ever, even if it did come out many years before i was born. I love this song so much!
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH, BACK IN THE DAY....lol. I think Lee Roy Parnell's problem was that he dared to stick his axe outside the 'Nashville Box'....but you're right, he SHREDDED!!!
I used to just get infuriated....he'd just be gettin' stretched out, and it'd be time for the ride-out...always wished this one in particular would have lasted for about another 3 minutes. Good song, though.
He was talented x three: fabulous songwriter, pitch-perfect singing voice, and kick-ass guitar player. Of course, this was back in the early '90s when someone fresh and original like this could still get airplay. Sad to say, if he were just starting out now, he couldn't get ten minutes of airplay on modern country radio. It's all about cheekbones and straight, white teeth, and biceps and looking good in cowboy hat. Having talent is almost beside the point.
Been singing this song all day. So had to fire up my old harley go for a ride. Awsome song!
