How powerful does the comp running the vsphere client need to be?

They claim you can run it on a 500 Mhz CPU and a 200 MB of RAM. 1.5 GB Free HDD and Gigabit networking. That's just about any computer in the last 10 years.

oh that's awesome! and once you have a new virtual machine, can you control it on the main server or do you always have to use the client?
You have to use the client. The server is mostly command line.
