  • You of the Webbs from Briceville, TN? My momma was a Webb: I could be your long lost banjo playin' 44th cousin or something.

  • I got a chance to play the banjo in this video at IBMA. It sounds great!

  • Awesome dude!

  • does this version have a specific name?

  • Are you playing Cripple Creek or Down the Road? Sounds like "Down The Road". Good playing!

  • @Pasovineyard Brother Oswald who played dobro for Roy Acuff and also played banjo use do this song. I thought it was kind of neat. Thanks for the kind words.

  • is that mike webb dose he coon hunt and if he dose let me know cuz i now him

  • @MegaGrizzlygreen Been quite a while since I have been coon hunting but I did use to go as a kid growing up. Haven't been in many years.

  • @shortspider ok srry thaan wrong person

  • Nice clawhammer style. You keep it rolling along in good time with good singing ('scuse me...that's called sangin' in this part of Tennessee). That banjo sure does ring!

  • Great Job..........

  • I love clawhammer, all banjo styles are awesome. Irish folk style even.

    It's a very underrated instrument.

  • Nice! It's hard to find versions where people sing. I'm going to borrow your style ;-)

  • nye ise, very nice

  • sad to see old strings home going top pot

  • A very nice rememberence of a great person and musician .. I love the down the road reference as well . I guess he is down the road allright . All the best and thanks . Guy

  • who owns strings farm now

  • This version of the song is terrific. Are the lyrics and chords available in a book or a web site. From trying to play the song it appears that the chorus is G-C-G-D7 (or G-D7). Couldn't make out the second verse.

    Thanks for a great video.

  • I see the Os influence is wide reaching...my wife bought me a banjo for Christmas (mine was stolen years ago and I just never replaced it) and I started frailin again like I remember Os doing, guess I'll have to dig out my homebuilt dobro and maybe give it a try again.....I know Pete is up there going "heh heh heh" just thinking of me playing....loved that old man...nicest guy I ever got the chance to know.

  • best version I have heard

  • Delieverce!

  • who is stringbean

  • that sounds cool as hell, wheres the tabs?

  • oh this reminds me of home! i love it

  • Best Banjer picker I ever heard!!! Thanks!!!

  • only thing missing is the scratchy sound of a 78 playing. You nailed it!

  • Amazing! Never heard Down the Road and Cripple Creek put together..same chord progression except an E thrown in Down the Road somewhere but it sounds great!

    Nice drive to it too

  • EXCELLENT JOB Super video

  • It's a 1979 Ode. I bought it from Charlie Cushman it belonged to Bashful Brother Oswald. You can see some video on youtube of him playing it on the opry. Thanks
