Never been to Finland, but I love the music Sibelius wrote about his country. Swan of Tuonela, Karelia Suite, and Tapiola - all very deep and moving. Greetings from England.
@NSLV527 The Russians thought that they can easily cow the Finns into submission! Whether we like it or not, God has a purpose why He put the Finns in that particular place and I agree with you, one the purposes is to stop the spread of communism!
The Finnisches Freiwilligen-Bataillon der Waffen-SS was a Finnish volunteer combat battalion of the German Waffen-SS. It saw action on the Eastern Front during World War II.
Formed in 1941 as SS Freiwilligen-Battalion Nordost, the battalion was made up of 1,200 Finnish volunteers (Wiking being commanded by Germans).
as a matter of fact we did have war Alliance whit Nazi Germany in war against USSR back then but we did not share same ideology than Nazi's we only have alliance becauseno other country help us against USSR back then And only send only few Jews that already vere captive from murders and other life time sentences in Finland un like Sweeden which sen several thousands of them in Germany
yeah, it's about the crusades and the forced babtism.. There's also some old sacrificial stone at the shore side.. But Katuma is a really bad neighborhood in Hämeenlinna.. :D
-The stories are actually much deeper than that. Hillfort `Mantereenlinna´ is next to the lake, and from there you could see the other forts and guard-towers of the Häme-Tavast area.
All of Häme could be raised in a matter of day.
-Those were in place because of the Novgorodian and Viking intrests.
UK has a very rich history, filled with numerous kinships, each bringing new tales and customs.
-I'd like to roam there, see the places, visit the areas.
Yea, why is that? But don't you worry, FDF will remeber you in a few years. You can come and serve in the army and view your homeland in close perspective.
so, it's best to give up your citizenship unless you're up to some shitty army service. if you have a vagina, ignore this. you have no duties, just the 'raisins out of the pulla' as we finns say
Maybe it´s because of the inmigration wave long ago. Surely finnish roots go much further than the swedish historylians tell us. The truth can be painfull....
where do you live?
the pictures are beautiful both from the place you used to live and from the place you live now.

Whenever I hear this song, I think of Russo-Finnish War and it pumps up all my nonexistent Finnish blood.
Altho Finland didnt rly win, they stopped the Russians decisively:
25,000 Finnish casualties compared to 250,000-1 million Russian casualties. Thats one awesome, tough-ass country.

I feel the exactly the same way........it is fascinating how a person can feel ties to a country without having any apparent reason :)

And your point is..? Almost every country that was under German influence had their on units in the SS.. Norway, Latvia, Estonia etc..

I tried to confront this woman in her claims, but -as expected- she dismissed it.
Another Ryssä without real knowledge about historical truths and history of Finland.
She can't back her bias up, simply because she spilled lies. -Tells something about the character.
