  • ouch :(

  • is it possible to get laser eye treatment where they dont make a flap in your eye and that.

  • im planning to get eyesurgery when im older now im just scared

  • this doctor crazy

    DON't know Eye

  • I had lasik and no problems whatsoever; still as with any surgery, there are risks.

I had bad astigmatism and needed glasses for everything, now I have 20/20, but as you say there are risks and people should make an informed decision and get the best doctor possible and not look for cheap prices (you get what you pay for).

  • I wish their was sound so you could hear:

    "Oh shit."

    "What?"

    "No..Nothing."

"Eye for an eye mother fucker."

    :)

  • thats horrible :( poor eye

  • what the F!!!!!!!

  • That totally sucks, my heart aches for people who have to go through this. It makes me appreciate that I have nearly perfect vision so much more. I can only imagine what it would be like to have terrible vision and constant dry eyes. People should really think twice about Lasik, if at all.

  • That's right. All of these people that just had LASIK and are a week or a year out, just wait until the 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10th year...every year your eyes feel like they're dying and drying out and they are. I'm sorry to be the "bearer of bad news," but get PISSED OFF at your LASIK doctor and staff for having lied to you about the long term damages, and having ruined your perfectly healthy eyes, all for money and greed!! Doubt this? check out: lasiknewswire (website). Youtube: LASIK FDA.

  • 1:26 - 1:50 "Now you f*cked up!" Seriously, shoddy doctor. Did you sue them?

  • @1:26 OMG, PUT IT BACK AND LEAVE IT TO HEAL!!! D: Try again later!!! D: and then it was too late... *dies crying*

  • oh my..is he completly blind forever

  • Oh my fucking god...Why am I watching these? It's like watching Saw or something. *shivers* ...Did that hurt man? :(

  • it just like slicing a meat!!

  • is this the cure for retinitis pigmentosa

  • man, what is he doing to that eye? looks bad.

  • yukkk

  • I get my surgery on monday, so 2 days from now. I appreciate you putting this up to warn me of the dangers. Thank you. I will keep you posted.

  • looked like he/she nearly woke up...damn that must be fuckin traumatizing!

  • holy shit! im gettin my lasik operation done in a week and im scared to death, what the hell is this guy doin is he a doctor, that aient no tissue paper man! god i think i musnt do this operation

  • their chopping the eye up into little pieces!! stop them!

  • i rather go blind naturaly!

  • I was thinking of getting lazer eye surgery next month when i turned 18 and now i dont want to. I think ill stick to my contacts and glasses so there will be 0 chance of complications.

  • You are a smart young person!!

  • son of a bitch man is that hooks in your lids man damn that has to hurt like a bitch

  • Shit!! i was quite euthusiatic to go for lasik after seeing a colleague of mine n his sister having done the sugery n regaining 20/20 vision.. but after watching this clip....

  • aww sick man. No lasik for me i guess.

  • say u get poked in the eye harddd (not during surgery, just normal life) and like u accidentally tear a hole in the flappp (in a normal eye it wouldnt be a flap of course)

  • Then usually the flap is damaged and has to be removed. It's called "flap dislodgement" and there are many reports in the scientific literature of this happening.

  • Yes it happened to my aunt but im not THAT young im 17 18 in a few months still i never knew they did this if i knew this i never even wouldve thought about eye surgery. ill stick to contacts and glasses then.

  • My oh my, I'd rather go wear contacts

  • Fuck me, i'm sticking with glasses

  • thats why i wear contacts

  • WTF!

isnt that flap supposed to go back on the eye?!

  • uh is that actually lasik

because i thought lasik involve a huge metal tool and stuff

  • How long ago was this lasik procedure done? I am having surgery done in one week and was assured that everything would go fine. I honestly don't believe most of the comments on here and wish you would keep your opinions to yourselves unless if you are doctors. Thanks.

  • Well, now, if we only listened to the doctors, they would say that lasik is perfect, safe, no problem and no one would know the truth! What an idiotic comment!

  • why did the doctor continue cutting to the end when the messed up in the first? If he would have aborted when it went wrong could he have avoided such a disaster?

  • so i thought that i wanted to get lasik but now i'm not so sure.....

  • I have on and off considered this but so far have used semi-rigid gas perm contacts(great but easy to lose, and dust under feels like glass!)or...I have pretty good luck with soft toric lenses. Contacts suck...but not as much as glasses and CERTAINLY not as much as this. I am sorry you had a bad experience. I WILL tkae this very seriously. Respect.

  • I dont think the clear thing is supposed to rip, is it.

  • fuckin hell!! ??

is there any videos showing Matrix-Lasik surgery. preferably with a laser? are they so bad too? they put somekind of metal drill into your eye and the eye turns completely red etc... ? :S

  • did he just ruin that person's eye?

  • how come the doctor removed the whole flap? also, is this your video of your surgery?

  • What happened to him/her ??? did he/she got blind or sth ???

  • I was really contemplating this surgery, and do not wear contact, just glasses.

What are the complications, and is it safe?

It is much better and wiser for me to keep the glasses then have problems that I can't predict. What exactly do I need to worry about?

  • If you had an honest doctor, you would know about the complications and what your risk is. You would know what you should worry about. Problem is, the doctors want your money! Conflict of interest (in their wallet) to give you the truth.

  • hmm.. care to explain what can go wrong? Any other alternatives to lasik out there?

  • dont acuse the doctors of shit, the patient should be well aware of the consequences of a bad surgurey, but this video does send a good message to viewers, as to if they want this surgerey.

  • aee crap i was thinking of geting lasik but now i see hwo scary it is

  • can you sue the doctor?

  • LasikComplications, LifeAfterLasik,LasikScam, Lasik-Flap, LasikFraud, LasikSucks4u2, UsaEyes, LasikNightmare, FlawedLasik, LasikSurgeryWebsite, LaserMyEye, MyLasikStory, SurgicalEyes org, DoctorMyEye , LasikLiberty, VisionSimulations, EyeFreedom , NoBlur...Show me another procedure that has this many patient websites trying to WARN YOU to NOT have LASIK and how UNPREDICTABLE it has become, now being an epidemic!! YouTube: FDA LASIK and watch and listen to the estimated 600,000 ruined lives!!!

  • You guys are idiots. LASIK has helped fighter pilots stay in the air. I am a LASIK Surgeon and have had the LASIK. There is no other procedure as good or as safe. PICK THE RIGHT SURGEON!

  • LASIK took the youngest United Airlines pilot to reach the rank of captain right out of the sky. He can no longer fly.

If you were a LASIK surgeon who truly cared about people, you would be apologizing for what happened to this patient rather than calling those of us with complications "idiots". Obviously, you have no heart.

  • jesus, i am due to get surgery in 3 weeks and now i'm shitting myself, i beleive however things have improved some what, with the flap now being laser cut as opposed to by hand, also i am due to get 'wavefront' treatment which apparently spares much of the tissues.

  • Don't get LASIK, spend the money on some cool frames and contacts...take a vacation, gamble, have fun, buy your friends drinks...anything but LASIK. My eyes are so painfully dry after LASIK, the pain is overwhelming, I wish I would have never beleived the doctors or my friends that say they had a good outcome. LASIK sucks

  • I too am a victim of LASIK. I too bought in to all of the lies telling me that it was painless, safe, proven, and had a 95% success rate. All lies. Every year my eyes get dryer and dryer and I'm wondering if my eye is dying from having had the nerves cut never to regrow since the LASIK FLAP was created. I never had dry eye or eye pain until I paid a LASIK Lying Quack Charlatan $5k to ruin my eyes and thus my life. Every LASIK surgery is a failure because it leaves you with permanent dry eye

  • J Refract Surg. 2005 Sep-Oct;21(5):433-45.

CONCLUSIONS: The human comeal stroma typically heals after LASIK in a limited and incomplete fashion; this results in a weak, central and paracentral hypocellular primitive stromal scar that averages 2.4% as strong as normal comeal stroma.

Only 2.4% of the original corneal strength. Consider the fact that you will need your corneas for the rest of your life if you want to see. Is refractive surgery worth what it does to the eye?

  • so what did the doctor do wrong?

  • This doctor is trying to help the patient recover some vision, by removing the damaged lasik flap.

  • That's because this is a flap amputation after lasik gone bad.

  • They sure can tell you to get yourself to the surgeon who kicks back the highest amount...that's about all you can count on. They know the damage it does to the cornea and greed has overtaken their better judgment.

  • When they removed the flap, did the eye-sight go back to the way it was before the surgery?

  • No. It required either hard contact lenses or a cornea transplant.

  • Actually, it's an experienced surgeon amputating a badly screwed up lasik flap. The patient had severe complications and the flap had to be removed.

  • PRK is safer, but still causes complications.

  • Well theres also bade less eye surgery

  • and it still doesn't eliminate the flap and most of its complications.

  • This looks like a retreatment some time after the original surgery because i don't see the suction ring that hold the eye still while the blade cuts the flap. am i wrong?

  • No, it's a flap amputation after severe complications.

  • =\ i feel bad for you

  • But, what if, a patient takes the LAW into their own hands, now ruined and suicidal feeling there is nothing to live for? Doesn't this create an "x" factor for the Lying LASIK Doctors to think about? Does safety now come before money for once? Only time will tell. Basically, the Lying LASIK Doctors have lied in order to save a lawsuit, while pushing the patient past the Statute of Limitations to sue them which is about 2 years usually, all while ruining his patient's eyesight and life.

  • This is a surgery i didn't want "MYSELF" to see, doctors didn't have anything to do wth it xD

  • I've been researching all these horrible patient stories concerning LASIK. I had LASIK four days ago. After three days of having freaking LASIK complication websites panic me and a number of other things... and making me lose my mind, I have realized that a lot of these patients had other eye diseases, problems, diagnoses that led to their problems. Stuff they don't talk about at all. I don't have a stigmatism. I don't have DLK. Four days later and I see crystal with no halos around lights.

  • Obviously they didn't tell you about them because DLK is a complication of LASIK, not a pre-existing condition. You still have a flap that will never heal. Hopefully your initial good result will last a while. Your eyes keep changing throughout your life, so eventually you'll need correction again.

  • Ive read about every comment you gave out of the currrently 103 comments, and I got to say that u still sound reasonable about ppl getting Lasik considering ur botched surgery. This has helped me seriously reconsider Lasik!Kinda relieved bcus I want to use that $4k to put down for a new mustang!Anyways,Im currently a part time Firefighter, glasses wont work in my SCBA mask and contacts dry up terribly, due to pressure and residual air in the mask. You recommend PRK.. huh, Ill look into it, thanks!

  • Good luck to you! Surface ablations are safer. Still, there are complications, but fewer.

  • wheres the foam ur sopposed to put around the eye did he even use anastetics ?????? u know what i think the surgeon was blind cuz i dont think he knew what he was doing .... i feel extremly sorry for ... never ami getting lasik never

  • omfg this is freaken messed up he was sopposed to do all those other things before freaken tearing out your outer eye thing omfg wtf never am i ganna get freakin eye surgery !!!

  • Lets do the math folks. An estimated 12,000,000 Americans have had LASIK. The FDA is reporting a 95.4% success rate (however the LASIK industry defines success). That represents a 5% failure rate, or about 600,000 Americans and their families RUINED from LASIK. Now are the numbers making sense? The FDA is way off at only having 142 complaints over 11 years. Are you starting to understand the epidemic? Would you go up in an airplane if it crashed 35% of the time? LASIK odds are about that

  • was this guy doing it too himsef?

  • Isn't it painful to have them just scraping your eye or pushing on it?

  • Of course!!

  • they must put numbing drops in the eyes or it would hurt during the surgery

  • Yes, they use numbing drops, but some patients have stated that they felt excruciating pain as the flap is cut.

  • so tis person has no cornea? =O what happened?

  • He lost 1/3 of his cornea when the flap was removed, as shown in the video. He probably either wears hard contact lenses, or had a cornea transplant.

  • OH MY GOD. this doctor is BAD. is he still practicing??

  • hi was jsut wondering was watching the video and coudnt really see what went wrong. could any one help when does the dr make a mistake . thanks:)

  • I would rather wear glasses then having this happend on me.

  • Wow this is very scary... I had my lasik done 3 years ago, June 2nd. I was a high candidate for dry eye/halo's at night, but I did it anyways, and had neither plus better than 20/20.

I got lucky, I don't even think they told me this could happen when they went over risks. I'm almost positive they said nothing about wrinkling and removal... I'm sorry to hear it happened to you : ( They just used the can opener type thing on my eye peeled me back no issues...

  • could they see after the operation?

  • Isn't it clear that at 1:38 the flap wasn't coming off like it normally would? Would it not have made more sense to stop right there and then?

  • is there risk in PRK Laser Eye Surgery?

  • Of course!!

  • Did you lose your eyesight?

  • thats horrible... couldn't they just make some kind of artificial flap that they bind to the eye? Why does the flap allow a person to see? I wear contacts, now that i have seen these videos... im sticking with contacts.

  • Complications is a bit too vague for me. Was it infection? Over slicing? Unexpected development of the eye which made the surgery no longer viable? Also what's the percentage if anyone knows of these complications? The % of recovery from them and are glasses equally an option over hard contacts?

  • no replacement of the flap?

  • Sorry, no, the cornea does not grow back. This person probably had a cornea transplant later.

  • They probly do it bad on purpose so then with there expensive lawers would win the case and your eyes

  • I had laser surgery on both eyes in Jan 07, one moderate and one severe loss done by medownick. I had several tests over 3 years and I had no complications and I can see very well!

  • Congratulations to you. That doesn't help this person though, does it?

  • I had Lasik eye surgery, and I am blind in my right Eye now. It sucks.

  • I feel really stupid for asking but i know nothing about how procedures are meant to be carried out.

May i ask what went wrong?

  • Not sure, but the patient had severe complications and this shows the flap being removed. He lost 1/3 of his cornea.

  • ghetto lasik lol

  • did this doctor get into trouble?

  • Sued.

  • holy shit dude thats just omfg that would suck...

  • I had LASIK 9 years ago for moderate nearsightedness and mild astigmatism. I've been 20/20 ever since with no complications. I asked around and found the most qualified surgeon I could in my geographical area. I had considerable prescreening and was warned of the possible complications. It was my choice to proceed, at no point was I pressured into doing it by the doctor. I'm very happy with my outcome but I feel bad for people who had problems.

  • LASIK is finally all over the news and showed to be causing great concern. Google: LASIK FDA, LASIK SUICIDES, LifeAfterLasik, Lasik-Flap. The 95% success rate is bogus. We spoke in front of the FDA Panel this week telling them that there are about 10,000 hurt LASIK patients, not the reported 140 complaints they are stating. Anyway. Google: Brian Williams LASIK FDA NBC, LASIK CBS, LASIK ABC, LASIK CBC.

  • God that hurts my eyes just watching.

  • So would it be safer to do one eye first and wait a few months to make sure it's alright instead of doing both eye's and risking going blind in both?

  • Oh yeah, but it's cheaper for the docs to do both eyes at once! Half the chair time seeing patients for follow ups.

  • holy shit. this doctor does everything wrong!! my teacher showed a video of a successful lasik surgery nd it was nothing like this. no blood and no ripping of the eyeball (or at least u cant see it nd its fast)

  • whats the problem here ?

  • The flap is being amputated due to severe complications.

  • Check my video. Don`t go for Lasik is unsafe!! Go for PRK if you really want to do that.

I have posted a video of an advanced versione of PRK.

  • is that shit they peel off from your eye the stuff that makes you see blurry?

  • I was booked in to have lasik today and in the end i didnt have the courage i was so scared of the comlications.....after seeing this video im so glad i didnt go through with it.

  • Dude omg! he just keeps brakeing off lil by lil of thaat guy eye what a fucking idiot he prollly blinded the guy or somthing i would fucking sue there asses

  • OMG WHAT IS THAT WHAT IS HE DIOING!!!

  • fuck this shit i'm not taking a risk

  • ah here!!!!!!! what the feck!!!!!! thats fuckin sick what the hell hes not even taking the linig of the eye off right hes just scrapin it off lke its somthin the person doesnt need... does this sp even have any qualifications or what? he should be shot!!

  • How do you respond to the fact that 92-98% of patients are satisfied with their results?

  • Let's take your 8% that aren't happy and multiply that by 12 million. That's one MILLION unhappy lasik patients walking around with damaged eyes. Is it any wonder the FDA is finally listening????

  • The FDA has had such an overwhelming response of "hurt lasik patients" complaining in mass numbers, that they sense something is wrong. Thus, they are now having an Emergency FDA Panel Discussion in Chicago, IL in April, 2008. Google: ASCRS FDA Lasik Chicago April 2008.

  • Omg doctor destroey your eye .

  • What is that thing that he "pulls-off" your eye? Is that a part of your eye or what? o.o

  • i'm so sorry "LASIKeyes" has to keep repeating the same things over. Unless you've been to 4yrs med school WITH the additional 4yrs corneal residency, you will not truly appreciate what "LASIKeyes" has been telling you. I stopped reading comments after 30min. The general population can be too empowered w/ little bits of facts. Military eye surgeons in Europe prefer PRK for helping soldiers stay vision/combat ready. Civilian population can't take the pain/downtime. cosmetic/drivethru sx!

  • ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew

  • was that you? or another person?

  • another person with severe complications. I almost needed a transplant after my lasik, but now I wear hard contacts---forever. Cannot wear glasses or soft contacts.

  • what time of the video is the mistake? please tell me

  • isnt it much safer to do it one eye at a time?

  • yes

  • isnt it much safer to do it one eye at a time?

  • yes

  • What went wrong, i dont understand..?

  • i have check some other videos about this surg

    and they are totaly different

you could tell the difference in quality

  • The others aren't showing you the aftermath of complications, which is a flap AMPUTATION.

  • i wish id seen this before i had lasik. i took every step i could to educate myself beforehand. unfortunately, i relied on my doctor for information and you cant do that. DO NOT RELY ON DOCTORS FOR INFORMATION ABOUT LASIK. they're making too much money on this to put out the truth.

if you want to educate yourself about risk and be informed then you have to talk to patients with bad results because the doctors lie. i know. my doctor lied to me before lasik and kept lying afterwards.

  • and hes a eye sergent because?

  • I did not see anything went wrong

  • Yeah, it's all in a day's work to amputate corneal flaps after lasik gone bad.

  • I had Lasik, except instead of using a microkertome, they used an excimer laser to cut the flap.

It worked out pretty good, 20/15 vision.

I don't think I would do it again, I didn't really think about the long term effects which are still unknown.

Sorry to hear things didn't work out for you, what options do you have for botched eye surgery?

  • Corneal transplant, hard contact lenses, flap amputation like this patient...live with it..???

  • Thats a contact lens that has been left in too long

  • No, it is the lasik flap being amputated!!

  • Uhm.. im sorry but i dont understand what went wrong?

  • WTF

  • I asked my doctor about this "permanent flap" you're talking about and he said yes it does heal with a small scar and can be lifted again but they have to break the scar to do it. Some people do have accidents if they are hit in the eye or if something sharp were to lift it...but that could happen to anybody and damage their eyes.

  • Did he tell you that there is a permanent potential space between the flap and the bed of your cornea, and that a simple abrasion can cause DLK, which is what ate 1/3 of my cornea? It's quite easy to bump your eye, or be bumped, and get an abrasion. Could be big trouble for a lasik patient.

  • That's why high vibrating keratotoms are used to remove the cornea...

  • what a fuckin idiot.....

  • whats so bad about this video?

its just a person getting laser corrective sergeryy

  • No, it's a flap being amputated

  • will this happen to me when i get it?

  • No one knows. You could roll the lasik dice to find out...let us know how it goes.

  • good job, u've probably completely ruined their eyesight!!

  • i wish i could see the expression when the doctor screwed up.

  • I feel dumb, but what is the flap?

  • holy fucking hell

  • I'm thinking about doing this... All the people that had a bad experience... I have just one question... Where did you go to have this done and how much did you pay?

  • the doctor apon realizing the eye flap was not coming back shoud have stopped...he hacked away

    wrong

  • The doctor who performed this surgery didn't create a flap. To make things worse, instead of stopping he just kept peeling back the epithelial layer. This patient will HAVE to have a corneal transplant because there is no way to correct the vision when the Bowman's layer is the top layer. The cornea will eventually die due to reduced oxygen and carbon dioxide diffusion and infection. An actual doctor would never, ever do something so stupid, especially one trained in ophthalmology.

  • Every surgery procedure has inherent risks. If your surgeon is halfway decent, he'll explain that sometimes complications arise that cannot be expected. It's on you to do the research and go to someone that you can trust, not just pick any hack with a billboard. The right surgeon should and will help you make an informed decision about the procedure.

  • Yes. Check the local courthouse to see how many times he's been sued before making that deposit!

  • im scheduled to undergo a cataract surgery next month, after seeing this video, my mind scrambles. when to decide to have an eye to surgery?

  • there is a NATURAL way (which is always the best way) to gain eyesight back. by using the eft techniques( which u can find more about on utube) u urself can gain back ur eyesight. fuck all these extra surgeries. a persons' mind is more capable of doin things than we think.

  • It is tragic when things go wrong. Blame does not really address an understanding of what risk means, in any arena of life. Just because the odds are really in ones favor does not mean to ignore the impact of the negative side. I'm not sure that doing all your homework either is a fool proof means, of assuring success. When I'm told that something is uncorrectable, today, I ask them again tomorrow. I hope you are doing well. Thanks for the video.

  • This is a proper horror story. Where is the suction cup to hold the eye in place? This looks like a cowboy job and nothing like my experience. I am so so so pleased with my procedure. I had UltraLasik Plus with Intralase and it was Wavefront guided. My flap was cut with a laser, not a mechanical device. Only 2 months since the procedure and I couldn't be happier. I do feel terribly sorry for this person though. It's truly awful.

  • This could happen to anyone, with any surgeon. The flap is being amputated due to complications. The person lost 1/3 of their cornea.

  • my grandmother had magor problems all her life with her corneas. finaly she got a transplant in one eye. one eye for safety reasons. she sees great out of that one eye now.

  • can you replace that?

  • Nope.
