No band ever did it quite like AEROSMITH did. Aerosmith is the greatest American band to ever set foot on a stage, no American band before or since even comes close to Aerosmith
Real disappointed when I saw this tour sooo many years ago.The boys and their sound guy just had an off night.Sound mix was muddled, sometimes TOO LOUD sometimes too soft.Steven forgetting half the lyrics,Joe seemingly uninterested in what he was doing (except when he kept walking off stage to do whatever he was doing back in the wings). Also,Joey couldn't keep a beat the entire night. Not a very good show at all.Ohh well.. I can't say I have a 100% perfection rate in my job over the years either.
@SouthJerseyGuy1 They were pretty strung out back then. Even Slash said when he first saw them as a kid in the late 70s they were terrible. But that's how it goes sometimes, right?
One of the best rock albums of all time, a top 50 all time candidate. Each track is so well-written, composed, and unique. Blistering rock, funk, ballad, slow, mid-tempo . . . . Great stuff.
@MeanrBeanr I agree that Rocks destroys all those 90's songs (particularly Pink. and Jaded) but Pump still had some hard, raunchy, badass rock. Young Lust and Love in An Elevator are particularly edgy. And Eat the Rich, though it's poppish, is edgy as well (Get A Grip, 93)
@willbond Personally I don't think they sound anything like the stones. Two different styles. Stones are great, but their music always had a very 70s rock sound, Aerosmith however could sound 70s rock, blues, hard rock, and amazing ballads. They have more of a mix of all styles in their sound.
Dudes, I used to press the two speakers of my old LP playing sterio against my ears and crank this sucker.... what bliss... here I am 48 years young and can still hear, and still love it. Praise God for Rock and Roll
Such a tune, gutted that they don't play any of their rockyest songs live. Seen them twice and they generally stick to their dreary crowd pleasers rather than their true hard rock.
They sure did. Yes, they regained fame, got tons of radio airplay, bounced back, sold lots of records. But , did they ever sound like this again? ("Rocks LP and prior ones"). Nope.
There is a huge difference 'tween this hard edged style rock and the many sugar coated hits that came after. "Rats in the Cellar" OVER "Pink", "Jaded", "Dude looks like a lady"...anyday.
Another clear example of this type of "change"...Def Leppard. Their 1st two LP's, outstanding, then...
@jorgeiramain I absolutely agree...ppl say they lost their edge...i say the fact they could change with the times proves they are talented, and no matter how their style changed, they kept making great songs. Nothing can stop them.
Damn, there's a lot of DRUG REFERENCES on this song...also on COMBINATION.....

If Aerosmith ever works with Rick Rubin, we'll probably get another album of this caliber. His track record's pretty good for that kind of thing.

Still my favorite Aerosmith album, and that's saying a lot compared to Toys, Wings, and Draw the Line.
Anyone remember when they first came out and half the critics pronounced them an obvious imitation of the Stones? Yes....it really happened.

Back when Smith WAS a rock band......tight, solid, genuine, inspired, fresh.
One of my original vinyl prized possessions and without question, simply their best.
My first and only show of theirs: June 27, 1977...I was 15, front row, raised fists.
The chemistry of 70's hard rock is a formula never to be repeated. Listen to it, learn it, be influenced by it. Love it.
