when a commerial hunt of endangered wild cows happens in japan territory over the other side of the world in a protected sanutary.... then you can tell people to boycott us.
The Japanese whaling company Kyodo Senpaku is preparing lawsuits against Sea Shepherd as intrude and obstructive actions to the Japanese whaling vessels.
good luck with that one, ss have never been convicted of a crime coz they dont break any laws, jpn are the ones breakin the laws, and that will come out in court, i highly doubt jpn will persue the matter as they will be found out
1. The international sanctuary was decided by the 44 nations of the Antarctic treaty? False. The international sanctuary was defined by IWC, not defined in the treaty. Decision of this area is forced by anti-whaling courtiers with lack of scientific rationality.
2. The endangered species is decided by the UN. False. Antarctic Minke Whale, (scientific name Balaenoptera bonaerensis) is classified as Lower Risk of extinct by ICUN. Please see Red-list.
1 yes thats right, it was created by the IWC. Japan is part of the IWC, why arn't they following it? The antarctic treaty also has a animal sanctuary in place (this was the one i was refering too.)
2 why did you only list minke whales? about Fin? or humpback (which resumes next year)? They are endangered, even by the ICUN.
Have you ever read Antarctic Treaty, Madirid Protocol, and ICRW you frequently use ?
1. You must read Article 8 of the ICRW. Japan does not violate any treaty, protocol, and regulation.
2. Because Japan only catch Minke Wales. Recently, IWC Science committee decided that they will possibly recommend to ICUN that the class for Minke and Humback whale in next-revised Red-list should be down-ranked.
Please explain to everyone on here about the status of FIN whales, then tell us how many japan is taking this whale season and then justify why japan is allowed to take endangered animals, when for every other nation in this world it is forbidden.
I feel that your avoiding the issue, this is the second time you palmed off Fin whales.
I did not avoid this issue at all. Have you ever read summary of JARPA report?
JARPA results showed that important changes are taking place in the Antarctic marine ecosystem with a rapid increase in humpback and "fin" whales. Continual monitoring and research are therefore required in order to develop an appropriate management regime for the sustainable utilization of these resources. Ecosystem models to provide the scientific basis for this requires data from all abundant species.
The answer is Yes and No. To assure the scientific fact, we need research. Anyway, though you request me perfect answer, why you avoid almost of my questions?
= International Law=
1. Please point out accurate Article of Madrid Protocol that indicates refueling banned.
2. Respond about Article 8 of ICRW.
3. Why you do not comment about a series of your fabrication that whaling is illegal and a violation of international law that you like to discuss very much.
I belive the answer is yes to all of them. under no law can endangered species get killed
you cannot get populations charts out of killing whales, you simple get a result that more are getting killed. Australia conducts research plans every year, but often our 'tagged' minkes get killed by japan. thus corrupting our results.
In fact recently IWC dismissed the recent research from japan, becasue it was the same old thing - average eye size, average tail length, food contents...etc
in fact the minke population is now listed as unknown thanks to australia and new zealand recent findings, new evidence has proven that minke populations are not as high as what old reports said. in fact they are decreasing.
I am a New Zealander and I am shamed of Oceania countries in terms of preventing whaling. Two major forces (NZ&Aus) have done very little against the brutal Japanese whaling fleet leaving helpless SeaShepherd and Greenpeace driving their low-fuel vessels after the huge COMMERCIAL Japanese fleet.
I know what you mean, New Zealand did alright... they threatened to release the coordinates to SSCS and GP if they entered the NZ claim. Australia knew where they were in our claim but did nothing except take pictures!
Either way if this isn't resolved after June in the IWC, australia, new zealand and the other 30 old countries will be presening the lawsuit against japan. its impossible for them to win against that number of nations.
Before we can legally initiate a lawsuit against Japan after June they would have killed hundreds of whales with much ease. Politicians should use their arms to:
1-- prevent any sneaky bribery from Japan
2-- save as many whales as we can before the potential lawsuit against Japan
6. What do you think of Sea Shperd Eco-terrorist which clearly violates international law as you kindly indicate? Do you still support them though they violate an international law that you like very much?
If you love whale emotionally, I do not care of it. DO NOT USE law and science that you do not know well. Be an adult. I am very bored of dealing with a cherry boy. Sorry but I am pleased to refuse continuing.
Ok then walk away, but this problem will only get bigger on a global scale.
I have outlined the laws/regulations, as for HSI and its animal abuse case you'll need to research that yourself, its non australian and australias court has nothng to do with it which you keep trying to say.
a whaling museum??? nothing to do with the issue, its to remind us of the past and how the world almost lead whales in extinction.
"The United Nations World Charter for Nature "is strictly not International "Law." Sea-Shepard should announce more accurate legal binding evidences to the world. If not you can not win in the international court. In addition, Japan did not violate Section E even though it is not law. It is scientific fact that Whaling one thousand Minke Whales does not affect conservation of nature. Anyway, it is good opportunity for us to learn SeaShepard concept regarding "Law".
Last time I checked Japan was in the UN, they have to recognise all their laws.
Japanese whaling fleet is breaking a variety of laws, first is Australian. since January the fleet was banned from our waters including our Antarctic territory, which under article 4 of the Antarctic treaty it has not been dismissed and the UN recognises it.
The International Antarctic Treaty has labelled its zone a whale Sanctuary thus no whales are allowed to be killed, Japan is in a direct violation.
Fred, thank you for your response. However, unfortunately your comment may contain some confusion. 1. The Antarctic Treaty, to which Australia is a member, freezes all Antarctic claims. 2 So Australia can not declare its territory on the Antarctic water. 3 The Antarctic Treaty never defines Antarctic Sea as sanctuary. So Japan never violates this treaty.
Next, IWC never banned whaling. IWC just suspended commercial whaling under the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling (ICRW). It does not apply to research whaling conducted under Article VIII of the ICRW. Anyway, this issue will be discussed in the court. I think that it may be beneficial for both to solve this issue in the court under Law without reviling each other. Thanks.
Yes we should not be blaming each other, and I am personally not showing any discrimination to the japanese people. All I am doing is attacking your government. I think antarctic whaling is wrong and should stop.
I agree with the 'Japan Times', the whaling fleet must return and a urgent meeting must be arranged. HSI is taking japan to court for animal abuse and the Aus Government is also filing a lawsuit.
I didn't agree with the 'Japan Times'. But I just agree that this issue would be discussed in the "international" court, not Australian local court. Since both Australia and Japan law-abiding countries, we should discuss without eco-terrorism violence just like SeaShepard. In addition, SS vicious violation on Antarctic water, Water pollution by rope left and throwing toxic-acid, should be punished.
As for Seashepherd - Well as japan says "its on so called 'high' seas". You say australia can't do anything about Japans whaling fleet, so i guess we can't do anything about SSCS...
Its ironic that seashepherd is USA, and japan asks Australia to charge them. I guess its australian territory when it suits the whalers.
I noticed one good thing. According to your logic, SeaShepard Eco-terrorist action, such as the rope left, and/or throwing toxic acid on the Antarctic Sea, is a clear violation under Article 2, Annex3 of Madrid Protocol! (Waste disposal by removal from the Antarctic Treaty area) Thank you for your great assist! I recommend you may ask Paul Watson to give himself up to justice.
if you expect us to charge seashepherd, your wrong. If they are charged on any law case, so should the whaling fleet. the court will not discriminate, if its illegal it will be dealt with.
Asutralia is currently in london presenting the new IWC regulations, which stats the research loophole will be closed. we have over 60% of IWC members support. so we 'should' find out the result later this week.
Ok. we should find next week. Lastly I should say that Japan whaling is not loophole. Actually they research whale scientifically, and this results are published and examined deeply in the Science Committee. We are looking forward to hearing non-lethal research plan, prepared by Australia. It seems to be very difficult for pop singer to understand what is "scientific."
1 Yes mid-sea refuelling is banned, it comes under the refuelling procedures.
2 by armed forces i mean the 'Fukuyoshi Maru No. 68'. Quote japan government "has armed forces in the antarctic ocean".
3 It does not matter what the relationship of the two whales were, the IWC classifises a calf if its under 5m long. Even one of the head scientist in japan said it was a calf (japan times).
4 HSI is a international branch,it doesn't matter what ocean it was in, its still animal abuse.
You mixed up Antarctic Treaty, Madrid Protocol, and IWC regulation.
1. No. Please point out Article
2. No. Article1 in the treaty banned military forces, not protection against terrorist.
3. False. Do you have any source? Scientists are not so stupid.
4. Australia court does not have any right to punish someone, who violates something out of the territory. It means HIS action is only demagogue with lack of justification. Anyhow, whaling museum in Albany is animal abuse museum?
Frequently as always, you Sea Shepard mentioned "violations of established laws in the World's oceans". We are appriciated it if you kindly could inform us of the specific law's name and its articles that our whaling ships may violate Maybe you may be dreaming.
In other words, most important thing for you is NOT whale's life. So you don't care whales which lives in other sea.The people like you are always so.
In 2006, the extinction of the Lipotes vexillifer was confirmed. Then, Bowhead Whale(Which is caught in the Alaskan coast) is listed on Red List of IUCN as threatened with extinction.Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd, and people like you don't care about it.
how dare you judge my veiws, my goal is for all whaling to end. but it still doesn't change that this lawsuit is about antarctic whaling (which i made clear by writing "this video/lawsuit"). however don't just assume these countries don't protest norway etc, because they are, but their current lawsuit is regarding japan for a few reasons. first its in a protected land and second they are the highest whale killing nation.
Research ship doesn't have time to cooperate with a terrorist's shooting of the propaganda movie.
And, Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said the government strongly opposed the whaling but did not condone violence or unsafe actions which put lives at risk.
ha you wish, these nations are JUST the ones in the LAWSUIT. there are many more against the japanese research program. but that has nothing to do with this video, this is about the lawsuit and its support.
And many more admission the japanese research program. Then, many scientists is helped by the data which got by research program. The complicated ecosystem of Antarctic Ocean is made clear little by little by the research whaling.
"World Against?"
If that is true, Japan will have already stopped whaling.
at least we are not the ones who have racism pictures as our backgrounds.
stick to the topic of whaling. this video is about these 31 nations against whaling. your tradition never included he antarctic and because most of the world is against it, you call them racist!!! in the end you'll be calling everyone in the world racist.
I would say the japanese government is the arrogant one, they will not respect the wishes of the world and continue to hunt in the only true enivorment left in the world.
mate you are deeply uninformed. the oceanic viking (the ship watching the whalers) will not leave treaty zones as they can't do anything in high seas. the oceanic viking, new zealand and uk have images and video of the whalers within 200NM of the shore line which is the treaty zone.
even the japanese government amitts they are in treaty waters - after all they were one of the nations that decided it. but they think they are not violating it and thats for the court to decide.
I can't wait till the international court case - when all the evidence is listed against the japanese government. then antarctic whaling will be no longer!
ok think that, but the antarctic treaty waters are still in place (japan is part of this treaty) and the antarctic treaty board labeled it as a animal sanctuary. killing whales in the zone is illegal as far as the atarctic treaty board is concerned.
ok fair enough you think australia is racist - good on ya, think what you want, i don't give a shit. But i have news for you even if the whole world was racist IT WILL NOT JUSTIFY JAPANESE WHALING IN ANTARCTICA!!!!!!
all the nations make up the world. over 50% of the world does not want whaling in antarctica. the world is against japan on this issue and you are calling them selfish??!! can't you respect the worlds wishes? or is japan too good for the world and can do anything they want?
i am not even gonig to answer your comment because its stupid. first food sources are not run out in japan and get food from your own country! not half way across the world.
all you are is racist, stick to the subject - just because australia is part of the lawsuit and had a era of 'the stolen generation' does not mean japanese whaling is right!!!!
what are you talking about??? australia has heaps of research stations in antarctica and has found great global information on global warming. also the IWC main research nation is australia researching whales on QLD coast.
surely you can't believe if australia has no research centres japanese whaling is ok.
Also your comments don't make sense - "where sea doesn't exist should become silent" - what is that ment to mean?????
"Propaganda war" Advantage of Aussie. Whale sightseeing-Biz. "Bashing" business.(Racism-Biz). Initiative of natural resources Biz of the South Pole. Advantage of Japan. Succession of traditional culture. Healthy food is obtained. Result of "Propaganda war". Isolation of Australia.(cult nation). Industrial retreat. (Wool and beef,The OZ Bashing) The Australia tour is sharp decrease. Bashing to Racist.
by the 'white' i guess you mean mostly australia - well the truth is australia was one of the last nations to enter this global protest lawsuit against japan. they only entered it 3 months ago
no, these countries shown are part of the LAWSUIT against Japan. it doesn't mean there are other countries out there that don't supports us. like panama, the european commission (repersents whole of europe) and USA etc.
if everyone of these countries just boycott 'one' product (just one) it'll send Japan in a low because there will be so many of us and won't affect the country that much.
So far it is working - SANYO has started a campaign against the Japanese government and Sony and Mazda has expressed its concern to the Japanese government and canon is waiting to see future actions before making any moves.
The European Chain of Aquariums has removed all Japanese products and Coca Cola is planning to sponsor Sea shepherd and Greenpeace (they are still in discussion with the captains of both organisations)
Japan's whale killers are going broke and have been forced to slash prices because no one wants to eat their growing mountain of whale meat. The Institute for Cetacean Research is struggling to repay their debt of $37 million back to the Japanese Government
Also the European Commission yesterday urged all governments across Europe to take a united stand against whaling.
Also i got a question for japan, cannot japan fight the IWC without buying smaller countries out to vote for commerial whaling? this is a unfair advanage and is a comunist action.
These countries (including france your country) are in a diplomatic fight agaisnt the loophole in IWC - which japan uses. Alaskian whaling is also being protested by even more countries then the loophole, unfortantly they can't win unless they get a 75% swing their way in the IWC. So these 31 countries listed are fighting the IWC and Japan for buying out other small countries to vote with them in the IWC. This is not fair on the world as japan is simply buying votes.
Also boycotting america will not work as their whaling program is not operated by their government, where is japans whaling is directly funded by their government and is carried out in a protected sanctuary by these countries. SO WE NEED THAT 75% SWING, we must not let japan fraud the system. BOYCOTT ALL JAPANESE GOODS.
What a positively ridiculous thing to say to someone who is an Australian involved in the issue of whaling of whaling in the Southern Ocean as we speak. This issue has been hijacked by racists and I find it highly offensive that you even imply any racist overtones not to mention putting Eco and racist in the same sentence. If you only knew how this guy and myself have been hammered by racists over the last month, With the greatest of respect you should pull your fucking head in.
FUCK JAPAN SAVE THE WHALES, BOYCOTT ALL JAPANESE GOODS.

The Australian says, you must not kill a whale , because whale is a beautiful creature.
A standard of beauty of a creature is decided by Australian of racial discrimination.
The kangaroos which there were 800,000 of them decreased to 400,000 of them by Australian slaughter act.

1. Is "refuel" banned? I could not find any comment about refuel in current Madrid Protocol.
2. "Armed forces" means weapon which is used for war, not for whaling.
3. Japan did not kill calf. Two whales in the photo, your customs took last Feb., are both female and both not lactating. That is vicious propaganda.
4. Since Japanese whaling is conducted on "International water", HIS local action in Australia does not make sense.

4 HSI is a international branch,it doesn't matter what ocean it was in, its still animal abuse.
fred100446 4 years ago
You mixed up Antarctic Treaty, Madrid Protocol, and IWC regulation.
1. No. Please point out Article
2. No. Article1 in the treaty banned military forces, not protection against terrorist.
3. False. Do you have any source? Scientists are not so stupid.
4. Australia court does not have any right to punish someone, who violates something out of the territory. It means HIS action is only demagogue with lack of justification. Anyhow, whaling museum in Albany is animal abuse museum?

Dear robseashepherd,
Frequently as always, you Sea Shepard mentioned "violations of established laws in the World's oceans". We are appriciated it if you kindly could inform us of the specific law's name and its articles that our whaling ships may violate Maybe you may be dreaming.

Blaming Only Japan?? oh I don't know why.
What about Iceland, Norway, USA, Korea etc.....
guevara4 4 years ago
this video/lawsuit is about antarctic whaling, so naturally norway or USA would not be involved becuase they do not hunt in antarctica.
fred100446 4 years ago
In other words, most important thing for you is NOT whale's life. So you don't care whales which lives in other sea.The people like you are always so.
In 2006, the extinction of the Lipotes vexillifer was confirmed. Then, Bowhead Whale(Which is caught in the Alaskan coast) is listed on Red List of IUCN as threatened with extinction.Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd, and people like you don't care about it.
cineking 4 years ago
how dare you judge my veiws, my goal is for all whaling to end. but it still doesn't change that this lawsuit is about antarctic whaling (which i made clear by writing "this video/lawsuit"). however don't just assume these countries don't protest norway etc, because they are, but their current lawsuit is regarding japan for a few reasons. first its in a protected land and second they are the highest whale killing nation.
fred100446 4 years ago
and GP and sea shepherd do protest alaska, norway, lceland and japan on the whaling issue. don't let the medaia fool you.
fred100446 4 years ago
The Japanese whaling fleet is on the run again.
The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society ship Steve Irwin re-located the Japanese whaling fleet at 0600 hours this morning, February 23, 2008.
The Steve Irwin is now pursuing the Nisshin Maru and two harpoon vessels.
They are running like cowards.
fred100446 4 years ago
A wise man never courts danger.
Research ship doesn't have time to cooperate with a terrorist's shooting of the propaganda movie.
And, Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said the government strongly opposed the whaling but did not condone violence or unsafe actions which put lives at risk.

cineking 4 years ago
ha you wish, these nations are JUST the ones in the LAWSUIT. there are many more against the japanese research program. but that has nothing to do with this video, this is about the lawsuit and its support.
fred100446 4 years ago
And many more admission the japanese research program. Then, many scientists is helped by the data which got by research program. The complicated ecosystem of Antarctic Ocean is made clear little by little by the research whaling.
"World Against?"
If that is true, Japan will have already stopped whaling.

haha Racist alliance.

at least we are not the ones who have racism pictures as our backgrounds.
stick to the topic of whaling. this video is about these 31 nations against whaling. your tradition never included he antarctic and because most of the world is against it, you call them racist!!! in the end you'll be calling everyone in the world racist.

I would say the japanese government is the arrogant one, they will not respect the wishes of the world and continue to hunt in the only true enivorment left in the world.
fred100446 4 years ago
Other party whom you should criticize.
It is Australia
Environment Minister.
Foreign Minister.
Prime Minister.
And,

DinosaurJp 4 years ago
and why should we critize them? they are helping to stop whaling in antarctica. thats a good thing for the enivorment.

Whaling only in the neighboring waters in Japan.
The political power of Australia today is arrogant.
It is an unbelievable fact.
As a result, friendship was destroyed.
Japan denies an arrogant principle.
Australia lost an important relation.

haha
Japan is whaling in the high seas.
DinosaurJp 4 years ago
mate you are deeply uninformed. the oceanic viking (the ship watching the whalers) will not leave treaty zones as they can't do anything in high seas. the oceanic viking, new zealand and uk have images and video of the whalers within 200NM of the shore line which is the treaty zone.
even the japanese government amitts they are in treaty waters - after all they were one of the nations that decided it. but they think they are not violating it and thats for the court to decide.
fred100446 4 years ago
go read the ICR - most of its full of crap but it does say its within the antartic treaty zone. you can't deny it
fred100446 4 years ago
I can't wait till the international court case - when all the evidence is listed against the japanese government. then antarctic whaling will be no longer!
fred100446 4 years ago
The high seas are places where the culture of diversity intersects.
The high seas are not seas of Aussie.
DinosaurJp 4 years ago
ok think that, but the antarctic treaty waters are still in place (japan is part of this treaty) and the antarctic treaty board labeled it as a animal sanctuary. killing whales in the zone is illegal as far as the atarctic treaty board is concerned.

what are you talking about??? australia has heaps of research stations in antarctica and has found great global information on global warming. also the IWC main research nation is australia researching whales on QLD coast.
surely you can't believe if australia has no research centres japanese whaling is ok.
Also your comments don't make sense - "where sea doesn't exist should become silent" - what is that ment to mean?????

Japanese economy will not have any problem.

Even if Japan has a crisis, it is phoenix and develops limitlessly.
Japan thanked God only in eating and caught a whale.
It is a European and an American that made a whale a crisis of the extinction.

BREAKING NEWS
Japan's whale killers are going broke and have been forced to slash prices because no one wants to eat their growing mountain of whale meat. The Institute for Cetacean Research is struggling to repay their debt of $37 million back to the Japanese Government
Also the European Commission yesterday urged all governments across Europe to take a united stand against whaling.
The Japanese whaling industry is collapsing!

Boycott America!

matamao99 4 years ago 2
These countries (including france your country) are in a diplomatic fight agaisnt the loophole in IWC - which japan uses. Alaskian whaling is also being protested by even more countries then the loophole, unfortantly they can't win unless they get a 75% swing their way in the IWC. So these 31 countries listed are fighting the IWC and Japan for buying out other small countries to vote with them in the IWC. This is not fair on the world as japan is simply buying votes.
fred100446 4 years ago
Also boycotting america will not work as their whaling program is not operated by their government, where is japans whaling is directly funded by their government and is carried out in a protected sanctuary by these countries. SO WE NEED THAT 75% SWING, we must not let japan fraud the system. BOYCOTT ALL JAPANESE GOODS.
fred100446 4 years ago
What a positively ridiculous thing to say to someone who is an Australian involved in the issue of whaling of whaling in the Southern Ocean as we speak. This issue has been hijacked by racists and I find it highly offensive that you even imply any racist overtones not to mention putting Eco and racist in the same sentence.
