My guess on the point for this is that since pressure points are considerably smaller than if you did regular push ups, it is meant to strengthen the muscles in your back, upper arm and lower arm, as when you go down the push up all your weight rests on the tip of the pistols and stabilizing oneself takes a lot of power, therefore working out the muscles in your back, shoulders and arms.
Do you think that if you were using real pistols, and you shot the pistols as you were coming up, it would help propel you up? That would be pretty cool.

Sir I disagree...Over the years as a power lifter/bodybuilder,MMA, & defensive tactics instructor for military & LEO's I have developed problems with my wrists,knees & lower back & yet I know people who are not conditioned at & do not suffer from these things.I also fail to see the point of this excercise with pistol training mods, there are better drills if you want want to condition yourself from having a negligent discharge.If you choose to do this just purchse the perfect push up handles.
While I've no doubt that over-training will cause you any number of health problems connected to repetitive stress injury, you'll never convince me that leading a lethargic life style is the healthier alternative.
I believe the point of the exercise in this vid was for the practioner to test himself, and I dont think his intent was to suggest training in this manner regularly. It's one thing to develop strength, and another to develop the list of attributes needed to perform pistol pushups.
