  • the purpose of a true rocket stove is to burn the wood upside down it forces the flame to burn downwards this raises the temp. of the flame and leaves no harmful gasses so it is safe to use indoors yours is a nice design but it does not meet this requirement.

it also would use a lot less wood than a regular woodstove.

check out wood gasifier it would be simple to modify your stove.

this would mean your stove would use 30 - 40% less wood to do the same heating.

  • @mciceteade When I was reading about Rocket Stoves, was basically an insulated fire chamber(chimney) and an elevated platform to place the firewood on. The idea is that this insulation (I used pearlite) makes a hotter flame and a better draft. This allows more of the smoke to burn. Smoke is wasted fuel. I think wood gasifiers are more efficient than rocket stoves, but this is a better stove than what they had before. What type of stove would you say this is?

  • @calionstallion

i like this stove a lot it is a clean looking and good working stove.

the rocket stove i`m thinking of is a u-shaped pipe with one end beeing longer to create the draft.

the otherside being shorter to be able to load the wood this forces the flame to burn down (just like the wood gasifier.

to make your stove a true rocket stove in this sense you need a 4" or 6" round stainless pipe in the center of your oven. and the wood has to be loaded from the side on top (put a door on it )

  • like i said i like this stove verry much it is a well built stove. lots of respect for the built. if you would modify as described you would have the best of the two worlds.

but use a stainless steel round pipe in the center. and weld it to the lid on top so the opening on the bottom is the only way the flame can reach the pot.

  • @mciceteade I disagree. I think this stove meets the basic criteria of a rocket stove.

  • Very nice stove design! I made mine from a 5 gallon bucket, which also works great.

Thanks for sharing your video with us.

  • @RonRay I made my first Rocket Stove from a 24" long joint of 6" stove pipe. I cut the pipe into two 12" pieces.

Then I put them into the ends of a 6" elbow. I filled the bucket with perlite. I made a pot skirt out of another 5 gallon bucket. It worked like a charm. I have two videos of my first Rocket Stove.. One is called My First Rocket Stove and the other is Rocket Stove Humor.
