I had a hard time in math. Having a cool teacher would have made huge diff. Either that, or one that was willing to take a bribe. lol I think thats great. You look like a prof that enjoys your job. I spent 10 yrs in school and only had 1 really great prof. She is the one I really recall. (600 level psychopathology) We really need more teachers on all levels that enjoy teaching. It makes a big diff to students.

Good explanation, but I've always seen it as; when you subtract b^2, you're effectively subtracting a^2 or a*b (as a=b they are all the same). Thefore, your equation reads (line 3)

a^2-a^2 = a^2-a^2, or 0=0

From then on, anything you do in division/multiplication will have no effect as the answer remains 0.
