After watching and reading through IGN's review of the game, I was on the fence with this one, leaning towards not buying it. I never had a Dreamcast so I never go to experienc the original.

Your review cleared up a lot of the questions I had about the controls. With that said, I'm definitely going to check this game out and get some maracas while I'm at it. Thanks for the review!

But seriously Sevival, the reason why I may appear to be tired is because of the horrible lighting in my room. It makes my eyes and part of my face look very dark. It also doesn't help that I recorded this in the evening when there was little light coming in from outside.

So I appreciate your concern, but honestly, I look tired due to poor lighting, not because I don't sleep. I try to get a good amount of sleep every night!

WT is pretty tempting, but I just can't spend 200$ on one game, plus I'd really like to use that gift card on some other fall/winter games instead, like Symphonia 2 or Robocalypse. Plus I've very happy with Samba, it's really great.

I rented it and I really like the game. I've got the grips of the controls and I'm trying to figure out how to do Hard.

I enjoyed this game so much I played it for 3 hours straight. I've only unlocked one song so far. I'm impressed and I'm extremely glad I watched this or I wouldn't have rented it (IGN review).

Heh, Mexican flyer was tricky on hard, and so was that second Sonic song. One thing I do that I'd suggest when playing hard/superhard is when you hit low notes and must go up quickly to hit high notes, don't violently jerk your arms/wrists up to get them, as I find I'll miss if I do that. Instead, try to transition smoothly, then shake and I find I become a lot more accurate. Also, if there's a particual note you always have trouble hitting, deliberately dont go for a "perfect", then (contin..)

you'll be able to get your hands in position to get that said tricky note/notes, and of course, try to keep yourself aware of where your hands are. Some of the songs are just very hard in general, but keep those tips in mind and you can make your way through hard/superhard. Also, I've seen some other good tips over on the GameFAQs boards, you may find something else helpful there. :)

Really nice review.

The controls work fine. It's annoyed me places like IGN have blasted the controls when they do work good. It just takes a little practise...it's not perfect but the game isn't ruined.

Any news on when Track pack 2 will be availible? :D

IGN was actually pretty easy on the game compaired to Gamespot and 1up, who gave it a 6 and 5 respectively, and both just slammed the controls as being unplayable. What nonsense. Gamepro and nintendo Power priased it highly, though, 8 and 9.

Nah, I have no idea when the next song pack will come, and I've looked everywhere. I hope we see one in October. :)

With a lot of Wii games I played I found that the controls were (much) better than most reviewers would like you to believe. It's good to see that this'll probably be the case for Samba de Amigo too. =)

It can also depend a lot on what you actually play. If it's some shovelware piece of garbage they just tossed together, it usually controls horribly, but if it's something that's had good effort put into it, it usually controls pretty well.

Heh, I think I won't be playing this game online much, since I don't have internet access where my Wii is... XD So I don't often go online with my Wii. =P

I've enjoyed Samba very much on normal mode last weekend. I finished the hard career too, but I must admit I'm still having difficulty with the controls on hard and superhard. I only played for a few hours though, so I do expect that to get better... ;) (It might also be one of my Wiimotes/low batteries. I'll check that next weekend.)

Low batteries may play a small part, but you probably just need to play around with hard/SH more before you really grasp it, but it's totally doable.

Oh man, lol, that's like compairing apples to oranges. Honestly, I cant say I prefere one over the other because both play so differently, and I like both for different reasons. However, I do know that I'm a better Samba player then GH player, and anything above Medium in GH is like nearly impossible for me to beat. I can scrape by some on hard, but just barely. So as far as ease of play goes, Samba wins out in that, but overall I wouldn't say one it better over the other, they both rock. :)

(And I've been playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour '09 All-Play (what a name... -_-;;) and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed too, so I haven't even put in that much time into Samba. ^_^ )

I watched your review again last week to see how you controlled the game, specifically how you handled the fast transitions from down to up. I noticed you changed the tilt earlier than I did.

So I tried mimicking that last weekend when I played Samba again and... I just breezed through the rest of superhard! =O =D Got my first A ranking on hard too. =P

IGN is full of shit or at least the journalist who reviewed it is, Daemon Haitefield. he said its unplayable on hard. I have played it this guy's video proves it actually is better for some people than the original controls.

Its obvious the official sites that are reivewing this game are pandering to nostalgia and are criticising the difference rather than real problems with the game. BS

I've been unimpressed with Daemon as of late. He just seems out of place on the Nintendo team, like he doesn't wanna be covering Wii. I like Matt, Mark, and Craig a lot, but Daemon has been lacking as of late. He's way off of his Samba review, though he's playing like it was the DC version again, which it isn't.

Also, saying it was only for casual wii gamers really pissed me off. I'm among the best example of "core gamer" as you can find, and I love the game. >:-(

My absolute all time favourite wii games? I would say Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Mario strikers, SSB Brawl, No More Heroes, RE4, Mario Kart Wii, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Zack and Wiki, Excite Truck, The two Trauma Centers, Scarface TWIY, just to name a few, lol.

Wario Land is awesome. I Bought it with Samba and its amazing, with some of the best 2D animation I've ever seen.

de Blob looks awesome too, but I've not played it yet, didnt have the cash for all 3 :(

Hmm, I know I really didn't touch upon this a lot in the reivew; The nunchuk isn't horrible, it works ok, but the wiimote is definetly more accurate. I'd still say check it out even without the second wiimote, but if you can, get another wiimote ASAP, as it'll play much better.

I don't think I'm THAT good, lol. I practiced a lot for a few days prior the review, I guess it payed off like I said it would. ;)

hey man, Good review and your explanation of the controls for the Wii version is spot on.

On a side note, if you need someone to help you with editing your vids or anything I am more then willing to offer a hand. there are a few things on the video I think could have been done better. all in all though it's a 5 star review. :)

What specifically do you think could be done better? Did you think I put in too many transitions or something? I try to keep those down as much as possible, it'd be nearly impossible to do it all in one take. Plus, all I have to work with is Windows crappy movie maker. LOL! Well I had long planned to review Samba. I never got the chance to play the DC version, so I flipped out when a Wiimake was on the way, so I was determined to review it as best I could and ASAP after release.

I definetly want to see your take on it, the more the better I say, I just wanna help spread the word that this game is really damn good, and not lame like some critics have said. >:-(

Find the DC version if you ever can. It's wonderful.

This new one is great, but you have to relearn the control as the game is not as freeing as the DC version.

I do still plan to get a Dreamcast at some point, but ATM it's not a high priority as I could use that money for new games for my current platforms, plus the cost of buying a complete Samba is pretty expensive.

Much of the negative feedback seems to be from people who'd played the original first, and I can totally understand their situation since it controls completly differently. It'd be like learning how to ride a bike backwards, it takes adjusting, lol.

Yep, like super sonic racing and a song from nights into dreams, at least that's what wikipedia said. I fully expect to see a Sega song pack as well at some point, and at least unlike the DC version, these are real songs, the original DLC was all on disc, which doesn't really count.
