  • What subdivision is Devil's Lake on?

  • Thats the kind of gates that they NEED to put up.. to keep cars from pulling out around when the train is coming.!

  • That's odd, at 1:12 the cars start running the red lights. Since when do we run red-lights in America? What if that crossing didn't have gate arms and just had lights, or the gate arms malfunctioned, would they run the red-lights then?....even though there could be another train coming?

  • 1st clip, I thought you would only see those types of gates on drawbridges.

  • I LOVE the K5LAs on those units! They are better with them anyway.

  • Those gates are freaking HUGE. Great vid!

  • Those barriers at the begining are B&B barriers. As far as I know, the WSOR is the only company to purchase them. I saw the WSOR for the first time just this weekend in Clearing yard!

  • great video, love those colorful EMD 20s, love those short-lines, the backbone of railroading. great action.

  • now thats a crossing gate wsor is my fav rr dont see them as much as i used too. good video

  • wow rare gates

  • at german railroad crossings the trains normally don't use their horn

  • Awesome video 5*****

  • Great video!

  • I spotted 2 EX-WSOR SD7/9 at a grain elavator in Iowa when we were going to my grandmas funeral.

  • The best. Very goog. I like. Nice. Beautiful. Note 10. I have movies (vídeos) of the trains.

  • wow those first gates are big, good though, safety

  • this was pretty cool. I liked it.

  • do the gates in the first part have catchers on the other side or do they just hang in air?

  • I think those stop gates are a great thing. Its going to hurt a lot less if someone hits that then the front of the engine.

  • WSOR has supported Operation Safe Crossing with a true passion.

  • the first crossing has to be having te biggest gate i have ever seen!

  • They need to have more gates like that.

  • Oh weird, those are the crash proof gates I have heard about, never seem.

  • I had tears in my eyes

  • I know this has already been said, but they don't make gates much bigger than that!

  • Trop cool, musik in love wisconsin.

  • Awesome! I loved it!

  • Personally, I grew up with fast trains, and I chase fast trains (learned how to from my father) In 1998, in the old family Caprice, we caught a BN at Fenton IL with 6 units, 2 BN, 1 LMX, and 3 KCS!

And if you can beat a hotshot intermodal from Savanna north to the boat dock across from the palisades state park, the shot is worth it! That, and they've opened up the old Savanna Army Depot as well, with roads running along the track for nearly 3 miles!

  • that is the biggest gate i've ever seen!

  • Hmmmmm. That first scene looks familiar. Nice one!

  • Thnaks Andy! It was great meeting you there!

  • Great shots there! W&S looks like a neat railroad to railfan.

  • Yes, its very neat, fun and easy. Easy because nearly the whole system is only 25 MPH track.

  • Really, my local branchline is easier. 10MPH track. =P

  • OK, I think i saw you as we went by. You were shooting at WSOR's million dollar gates and i saw someone caring a video camera across the street. We shot at the Marnia just down the street from your location. Have you ever shot from there? If not you should cause it is a killer shot.

  • Yeah, I think that was me. Also, fellow Youtuber Andy (VespinVid2) and his dad where out at the barrier gates. No, I never have, this is the first time that I've made it this far South to catch a train. I was more interested in the barrier gates, but I might make it down to the marina one of these times.

  • Hey Dude, Thanks for the comments on my pictures @ railpictures(dot)net. The engineer of M3 is a freind of the guy i was with. We chased him all the way from Madison to Reedsburg. He had switching in Westport, Baraboo, and Reedsburg. I also shot video of the chase and should have it up by the end of the day.

  • No problem, those were nice pics man! Its always nice to know the crew of the train, that for sure. Nice vid too!

  • Really nice shots Adam, but I think the train was over-powered.

  • I thought the same thing. I've seen this job with one engine and 20-25 cars.

  • Yeah, I've seen worst.

  • I didn't know that you ever saw this job Dan.

  • He was only running one engine all the way up to Reedsburg. The reason the second engine was on the train was that they were going to leave it at Rock Springs on there way back to Madison because it had some grain loading to due at the elevator.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • That's good info, but how could you tell? To me it's over power and I seen a GP38-2 in CN pulling a lot more then that.

  • Because i knew the engineer.

  • It's better to be overpowerer than underpowered. ;]

  • Nicely done Adam!

  • Nice video.

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it.

  • Nice vid Adam! I love the barrier gates and I think that other railroads will look at that and want to put them along their rail lines.

  • I don't know, they're pretty expensive I would imagine.

  • They cost WSOR over a million dollars to install them. The reason why there at this particular crossing is cause it is a major state highway and the line tends to see traffic in this area everyday during rush hours.

  • What was up with the dude in the black convertable who got out of his car, waved, and got back in!!!!

For a second i though that he was gonna run the crossin, but realized that u were watchin him and didn't,thus deciding to so off to the camera!!!=D

  • He got out and took a pic.
