  • R.I.P Great American Scream Machine..

  • This coaster had the worst brake hill.... gave me a neck and head ache for days. Still, I can forgive it, RIP GASM.

  • Rest in Peace !! :( :( :( but the green lantern is better like this comment if u agree

  • i want in ! whos paying my ticket?! :D

  • @SuperPaloh uhm, u could have gotten a ticket prob a year ago, its getting replaced with another coaster, i think its "Green Lantern." just read the comments.

  • didnt they take it down i hear theyre gonna replace with coaster called green lantern

  • i live in england i we might come to america for a theme park... i have come down to parks... cedar point and six flags great adventure, which one should i choose?

  • Today is the last day this ride will be operating. it is scheduled to be torn down this summer :(

  • i like the double loops. just not in the front. front hurts way more

  • Comment removed

  • good video ; ) Add me :)

  • This ride wasnt amazing but i got the most hurt on this lol those Loops are no joke its like a million of them lol

  • I have mounted in worse, know the one Kingda Ka, because in that I and that have mounted if that you must be scared to the force

  • that roller coaster hurts because u bang ur head about eighty times

  • hurts your head alot.. it bashes your ears against the harness

  • this looks just like viper at sfmm

  • its like a take up more space version of viper.

  • it's the same size, it's the same exact thing

  • not exactly. it has all the same inversions and features but the track layout is a little different. viper is more of a space saver. this one probably had to, well, what im trying to say is that its a little different, but pretty much the same ride.

  • no, this, shockwave, and viper are all clones with SLIGHT changes but the changes are only a matter of feet, if that.

  • I'm sorry, you're right.

  • its cool. if its a fun ride thats all that matters. =]

  • isnt that just like viper?

  • yeah

  • i just went yesterday, its a great coaster for 20 years old,

  • It's definitely good for an old coaster

  • loved this ride!!

  • I've been on it, and the shoulder restrains are lower down on your shoulders with your head taller than the shoulder restraints. I'm sure those that suffered any headbanging on the ride didn't keep their head back against the headrest. I did that, and my head didn't hit the restraints.

  • omg this ride is so much fun! i went on it like 5 times during a class trip, but you get a killer headache during the corkscrew part cause ur head is rattiling around. it's well worth it though!

  • I just went on it 2 days ago. It shakes a real lot, but overall ohk ride.

  • yeahh def. i just went on it 2 days agoo too haha lol.

  • good for first time coaster????? Also should it be last since it hurts head?

  • it hurts sooo fucking bad, thats why theres NEVER a line

  • I nwent on this ride like 4 time in one hour thats how fast it was i remember one day it was devesatdingley long!

  • was there even any screaming on this "Great American Scream Machine"?

  • i really dont like arrow multi loopers like this and viper. theres just something about them that makes them really un-attractive

  • :O You...Don't....Like...ARROW LOOPERS ?!?!?

  • well..... they are prob the best of all multi loopers..... but still not good...i just dont really think multi loopers ase that good.....if its a B&M multi (floorless, standup etc..) then thats different

  • yea i can ride rides in winter

  • i love this ride. barely ever a wait for 1st row :)

  • so pretty much viper in new jersey

  • yeah. the only big difference is that the scream machine opened 1 year before viper did.

  • i went on that & like it looked scarry but i went on it & it was like nothinggg. but i did screamm, lmaoo, cause it was highhh.

  • this is fun just keep your head back

  • yeahh because yuur head keeps banging around so if yuu just keep yuur head back its fine

  • Its not that, its that the over the shoulder restraints are high up to your head, and the coaster shakes around a lot so that causes your head to bounce off and on the shoulder restraints.

  • I remember it bashing my head a bit, too. Still a good ride, though....I think....still a bit fuzzy...

  • Plus, the lateral Gs on this ride can get pretty intense, particularly on the corkscrew entry. I rode in the braced position the entire ride and still felt my head being shifted violently there. Several people goty slammed right there because they weren't prepared.

ALWAYS ride Arrow roller coasters in a braced position so you won't get hurt.

  • what exactly is an arrow coaster? Thanks

  • Arrow Dynamics, they designed and constructed the ride.

They exist today after merging with another designer (S&S Power) to form S&S Arrow.

  • I was soo scared to go on but then I LOVED this and SUPERMAN

  • oh my god i was so scared of this the safety bars were so loose

  • OMFG THATS JUST LIKE VIPER AT MAGIC MOUNTAIN! i hated viper its way too rough. i take it this 1 is 2?

  • it is viper...GASM and Viper have mirrored coasters across the nation...Viper however is the tallest, fastest out of the sister coasters. And they have made recent adjustments to Viper and probably the others as well. Before the corkscrew blitz the break system has been modified and the breaks after Loop 1 have been modified as well...i've ridden 4 times over the summer and it is very smooth

  • Don't forget the first of the three, Shockwave at SFGAm.

  • yeah they are clones of each other just like Shockwave. They really are not that rough if you ride them right. I personally love these coasters...

  • @ATLCoasterMan wasnt viper at six flags great adventure? i thought they had problems with it thats why they shut it down. is viper at another park?

  • @Jazzy25 > Viper(the sister coaster to Scream Machine)is located at SF Magic Mountain. Great Adventure had a steel coaster at one time that was called Viper, but it was totally different.

  • @ATLCoasterMan so do i

  • @PianomanErc 1: shockwave at six flags great america 1988. 2: great american scream machine at six flags great adventure 1989. 3: viper at six flags magic mountain 1990. does this answer your question?

  • Looks like the ride from final destination!!!

  • thats why i didnt go on

  • Viper (1990) is taller and faster than the Great American Scream Machine...with the available plot of land at Magic Mountain Arrow had to make it taller which ended up making it faster. Arrows best ride however is X2 (2008) at Six Flags Magic Mountain

  • Yeah well givin that this opened in 1989 it still opened as the worlds tallest and fastest Steel Coaster, so its a mook point. Coasters are like computers as soon as one comes out theres another one thats faster and taller and with more inversions. But hey thas how these companies make there money there is only but so many coaster builders esp. in 1989-90

  • Very true...although i feel bad for Arrow, ive heard they are going bankrupt, even after they built X2...buy hey ur user name looks familiar; did u make any RCT or NoLimits add-ons?

  • They've been backrupt. S&S bought what was left of them in 2002.

  • if it wasnt so bumpy it would be better but it is like a billion years old.

  • i had the badest headack after this ride

  • me too. i love this ride, but my head is always bouncing around the way it shouldnt. BUT, after it slows down like at 0:27, the rest of the ride is smooth

  • this and rolling thunder sucked.

  • So this is basically Viper with no theming??

  • Good ride, but would be WAY better if it were smoother. Hurts your head, and if you stick your head out so it doesn't get hit, it hurts your shoulders, but good ride.

  • u no whats funny? me nd my friends were yellen at the ppl with cameras"DONT DROP IT AND HAVE FUN!!! becasue we knew it was going on utube and we wanted to be n it! haha XD

  • I hate when people do that, i try my best to edit it out or just film another video...

  • same constrution as viper

  • where is the bumpiest place to sit-front or back?

  • rode it yesterday. It hurts but it's actually kinda fun

  • thats a bitch coaster...

  • this hurt my head

  • this is a rip off of viper

  • This was made first

  • it really was lol... off the top of my head there was 3 just alike this one, viper and shockwave.

  • dis wuz da 1st roller coaster i ever been on i wu zlike 13 and it wuz fuckin good but it hurts ur neck a lil but i went der about 3 years ago wen i still lived in nj i went on every ride kingda ka and nitro iz da best but i didnt get 2 go on el toro cuz it wuznt built yet

  • lol u spell everything with zs

  • the german translation for this ride is "große amerikanische screammaschine"

  • noooo Wayy I was on that like an hour ago ahahha

Its amazinggggg my FAV I liked it WAYYY better than that Nitro coaster

  • Nitro is way smoother than this though, it's a more pleasant ride.

  • i think this is a good warm up coaster , before getting o the bigger ones. its just what i think

  • awesomee =]

  • All you people who complain about...Oh my neck got hurt, my head got hurt....you all are a bunch of babies. This ride was one of the greatest rollar coasters when it was built almost 20 years ago and remains a good average coaster for today. It was much smoother too in its earliest years

  • that ride is incredibly painful.my neck is practically broken after the ride.damn

  • this ride is fun but it hurts i was sore

  • oh ok, cool! ummmmm what about nitro? im terrified cause it doesnt have an overhead harness

  • Nitro is a great ride the lapbar restraints hold you in nice and snug. The restraints act. sit on your upper legs and hip area and if you pull it down snug you def. wont go anywheres. Nitro is a great ride with some nice airtime and those hammerheads are sweet. If you get up the nerve I would advise you to try it and sometimes they have that seat out in the entrance. Sit it in and pull the restraint down, it will give you some confort when you see your not going to go anywheres

  • ooops i deleted your last comment by accident SORRY ABOUT THAT... Yeah I def. know that feeling if you need just push the lapbar down a lil harder alot of times if you ask the attendant to push it down more they will really put you in there nice and snug in my opinion I would just go for it you know. Knowing Six Flags the way I do there is no telling how long it will be there so go while you can ;-)

  • well the guy i asked on line said lay ur head back! lmao!

  • well he def. told you the wrong info. Thats one thing that kills me at parks i hear folks talking about the ride in line and all or most of the info is incorrect lol. When you ride these types of coasters always learn forward with a good force and lean into the twist and turns as if you where on the back of a motorcycle, you wont get a headache or even a bump. I used to operate one of these for about 2 years and later went on to be a rides manager so if you ever have a question im always here.

  • oh yeah! and there is NEVER EVER a line more than 2 min

  • ow, omg, ow, omg, i just got back from this, it KILLS your head, ears and neck, and my friend was wearing studs and they slammed into her head and she was bleeding! (it was a fun ride though!)

  • Next time just lean forward pushing against the restraints. Dont keep you head back and let it toss you around like a rag doll lol.

  • lol, help me! idk if i should go on on 5/27/08!! does it hurt THAT bad??

*commment me with your answers PLEASE.

  • I don't like this ride. The only times I felt good g's were the beginning of the batwing and the corkscrews, of which there weren't enough. The two were good, but I would have liked 4.

Also, having to keep my neck muscles tense to keep my head from banging around isn't particularly fun.

  • this is a great ride. when i was there a few weeks ago, almost no one was riding it, so we literally would pull into the station and not move, then go on again. there were so little people that at :30 in the video, our car didnt have enough weight and would get stuck at the brakes

  • oh really? you're lucky, I went on a really crowded time.

  • i love this ride its so fun..fuck all the whiners saying "it hurts my head" bunch of faggots

  • omg i luv this ride even tho it hurts a lot it was my first upside down coaster- AWESOME :] && the line is like 1 min. at the MOST

  • great ride butt the next dayy after i got off i noticed i had scratches all over my facee..but it was GREAT!!..7 l00ps is awesomee

  • dont ride it... its terrible

  • omj!!this ride is so painfull! it throws r neck around so much were u cant enjoy the ride:(

  • I love love love these coasters, just lean forward push against ur restraints and lean into the turns like your on the back of a motorcycle you will see a big diff. ;-)

  • I have no idea why people say its so painful. Just on it yesterday and I was fine.

  • looks exactly like viper at six flags magic mountain.

  • it seems to be one of the few coasters in six flags that doesnt have a long line...

That's the only reason i like it X_X it hurts my neck ALOT

  • i love this ride

even though it KILLS your ears my ears were red for 2 days

  • THIS RIDE SUCKS it herts soo much on your EARS!!!!!!!!!

  • UGH reminds me of the Shockwave at Great America. RIP

  • its a clone... that's probably why

  • this ride gives u a huge head ache

  • Which is the reason I will NEVER sit in the back again. Not nearly as scary as it looks.

  • god dam that thing has a lot of fucking steep turns :O

  • was that even fun

  • yo this ride blows a=its way to shaky and it sucks its by far the worst ride there

  • Nah it really dosent its a classic. I guess im weird I luv these types of coasters lol...

  • my bro and dad went on this.. i didnt want to because i didnt want to have a throbbing headache the rest of the day. some girl threw up like 5 times on the exit ramp after this ride though. oh boy must've been THAT bumpy

  • It was my second roller coaster ever and I must say this is a classic coaster. It won't hurt your neck unless you sit in the back then it might but I strongly doubt it

  • Actually the near identical Shockwave opened at SFGAm one year before GASM did.

  • lol looks awesome but i dont hear a lot of "great american screams" i guess the wind is muffling it out

  • awesome

i wanted to sit on it but i coulnd't cuz of my dumb cousin n e ways my bro sat on it he was relle scared

im gonna sit on it in aug or go to playland!!!!!

  • same thing as viper at magic mountain

  • looks like a great ride but does it really hurt ur neck that much? if it does that suxs:(

  • are you sure thats the great amnerican scream machine? bcuz last time i saw it, it didnt have loops, dude i think ur mistaking it with the ninja

  • Um yeah this is the one in NJ @ Six Flags Great Adventure

  • this is the great american scream machine idiot. it has always had loops (inversions). the ninja is totally different.

  • Tallest and fastest LOOPING coaster ^_^

  • whaat one of the tallest and fastest?

there are hundreds of teller and faster rides, gtfo scream machine

    superman in SFNE ftw

  • please pay attention when u post we are talkin about 1989. There was SRoS

  • This hurts your head. Anyway, it was pretty cool when I rode it in the front row.

  • i rode that 3 years ago when i was like 14. my head kept banging against the shoulder restraints and i had a headache for the rest of the day thanks to that ride! it was fun but more painful than fun! they need to seriously re-do that ride its almost 20 years old!

  • Wow the tallest fastest coaster in the 80s? Anyway that ride is too wild. It gives me a whiplash when i ride it.
