@dxgxpxavalos A base note is the not that the chord is based after. So on a G chord, it would be a G note (the third fret on the E string) Hope that helped.

When you're changing chords on an 1/8 note strum is it just standard convention to omitt that last up when you change chords? It looks like he's changing chords after a down stroke.

I do the G, the I take my middle finger off and move my pointer finger up to the top string on the second fret, strum, then go to the Em.

In case you're still wondering about this, it looks like he's just playing an F# note (low E string, 2nd fret) between the G chord and the Em chord. Hope this helps. :)

That's a steel string acoustic. Classical guitars have nylon strings for the High E, G and B strings.
