Okay thx! I'll use your advice and hopefully they might do it and I will be able to tell you! Great tutorials- keep them coming, it gives me a boost seeing a bigger dog doing tricks instead of nifty border collies all the time! x
Cool! My dogs are about the same size as honey ( Male Scottish Deerhounds) and I want to teach them this, I was wondering if it was very hard to teach them this trick as they have short attention spans and often find a way to not do the trick I ask! ALso which method do you find better for big dogs? Thx
@Katycatkins123 I think diff dog personalities suit diff methods, not necessarily their size. I've used variety of methods to train Honey for diff things - from clicker to more traditional. Main thing with big, slow dogs is not to rush them, be v patient, not expect too much in each session- take things in 'baby steps'. If you rush, they get confused, lose confidence & give up.
@Katycatkins123 They also don't like repeating things (low drive) - get bored easily - so lots of short sessions. I often take months to teach Honey something but that's OK - it's not a race!

I just got a six month old fawn male great dane named Ace, i have had him a month a not only is he growing like Clifford but he smart. you can see him thinking and listening. i love big smart dogs. My sis had a jack russell terrier and he is stubborn but smart. my mom thought your dog was big wait until she sees how much bigger males are!!! XD
Hee! Hee! I know :-) When I refer to dogs in general or in abstract, I always use the male term - I only use the female term when talking about Honey in particular!
