I used to work at a takeout, customers complained because of my stuttering, the managers had to swich me to busboy. that was painfull. the manager told me one morning "we can no longer have you on the takeout because people say you get stuck, you're busing tables from now on" that was one of the most painfull moments in my life.
@TheLovedOneeeee Do the best you can. People who don't experience this problem just don't get it. Perhaps they need OUR sympathy for being so damn close-minded.
I talk normally for the most part with my friends but when it comes to presentations, talking to strangers or on the phone, I just stutter. I'll never overcome it but I've actually embraced it. I've stopped hiding it. If I stutter oh well.
i talk normal with people but when it comes to speaking to a small group, i get nervous...and for the worst part..I cant say the word "Thank" for some reason..and i have to say that word when i pick up the phone for my job !!! please help !!
I am a very light stutterer, and most people don´t even mention it, but yet it steals so much of my energy, my confidence, my ambition.
However, that´s my biggest problem, because the fact that they don´t notice it is a direct consequence of the fact that I hide it - that I betray myself in, terms of not daring to be the person i want to be.
I´ve rarely seen a more inspiring and authentic video than this, let us all be inspired by this, in order to let go of our fear and shame.
2:30 - He's so right. I can withstand alot of physical pain but the anxiety/embarrassment/shame I feel I get when I stutter is much much worse. People with normal speech have no idea and take it for granted
im in south carolina 23yrs old i feel everyone's pain but we just have to fight and think positive no matter how hard it gets..my stuttering gets bad over the phone or with words that start with W,the number 3,ordering food...jus stay strong..we have too
It is completely in the mind ...Ever wondered why people with stutter can speak fluently when alone /with a pet etc and stutter on the same word with someone else. One can overcome it !! its possible...requires some patience and perseverance
"shame is the feeling that you are wrong" .. so true. Its a really frustrating problem, the worst thing is speaking in presentations in front of audiences... hate it. I hate the fact that sooo many people don't understand stuttering.. they think its like some retarded problem that abnormal people have - which is stupid! Stutterers are just normal people - we're not bloody dumb or anything !
I used so so many excuses, Even now i many times do it. But I am good in Speaking and presentation now, I am good at it. But Terrible on Phone. Dont know how to get rid of it
tell me about it..i'm 14 and i'm almost going to highschool..the worst part is coming...damm!!!...i don't know what to do..but i know is gonna be soooo hard!!!
i agree the person who imitates it is a mother fucker..sorry for the bad word..is just that is true.because i know the feeling of that when somobody imitates you!!it is so frustrating

Some folks may find emotional pain a motivator, as the bearded guy said, but others become paralysed by it.
