  • People ask me how many people can it pull? I tell them on flat ground maybe 100. And if it is down hill you might be in trouble.

  • way cool

  • I have been visiting this club since i was a little kid in the 1970's, there are some amazing machinists in that club.

  • Just the way children are having so much fun. The seeds had been planted!!!

  • Have you shot any of the later MSLS meets at Columbia? If so put them on here.

  • id like to lie down in one of the coaches lol

  • @mrbumblesquat I used to do that all the time...when I was small enough to fit in one lol

  • i love the older man at 1:40- 1:46 just chillen in his lounge chair. he looks so relaxed. i would love to set up something like this in my backyard

  • The FP-45 weighs 1800 lbs, powered by a four cylinder diesel, all axles driven, air brakes, vacuum brakes, built in 1992. Paint layout is exact placement as ATSF paint shop. Water cooled, all roof fans operational. Has pulled 55 people up 3.2% grade in 22 cars. Also pulled 55 cars, dead large steamer, 39 people up 3.5%. Sound system is normal operating noise under load. Sounds like a SD-40. Smoke out exact exhaust outlet location. Modeled like last EMD, ATSF 108, just before Amtrak took over.

  • 1/8th scale FP45 = EPIC

  • Nice video, I see a couple familiar faces (and locos) from my local club.

  • the sound is just super realistic

  • i would love to bring my clubs atlantic or american out east. we r in california but it would be great to do some traveling around live steam style!

  • wooooooooooo i live in columbiaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not that this isn't nice but I think my club's track is nicer, we serve our refreshments in a full size caboose, and we store out engines in a full size boxcar.

  • How fun!

    Thank you.

Loved hearing the steam locomotives under load.

  • We went to Columbia and rode the trains today. It's really a nice family event. My buddy Scott Reedy is at the 2:35 mark. He builds almost all of his trains.

  • where can u get your hands on one of these?

  • i think the guy who has a pennsylvani pacific and white boxcars is a member at the pennsylvania live steamers i think it is bruce saylor. but i never knew he had 7-1/2

  • I wasn't even under the engine at that time.

  • My favorite part was the old guy cruising on the lawn chair.

  • these are really kool machines but how much do they go for and do people buy them for any more uses than to have fun?

  • is this 5 inch gauge?

  • No. It's 7 1/2" gauge.

  • damn

  • Brilliant, just simply brilliant!! Would love to participate!!!

  • Ha. That guy on the lawn chair flatcar had the right idea. Now if only I could fit a recliner and a TV on one. LOL.

  • have you got anymore fotage from the meet?

  • Lots more. Didn't wanna exceed the time limit.

  • Is there somehow you could package it or somehow send it to me so I could download it?I would greatly appreciate it.I have tons of pictures from over the years but not much footage..

  • Well, I'm sorry to say, but I lost part of the tape. It's about 900 miles away now in Texas.

  • The engine at 1:35 is Joe Scale's Southern 2-8-2. I saw it at TrainFestival 2004 in Dennison, Ohio.

  • Live Steam Greetings from Germany! Very nice!

  • Dang it Brian, I don't get out of school till June 6th!!! >:( Anyway, when you are in San Antonio I will be at Disneyland! BTW- VISIT THE ALAMO! I've been to S.A. and other parts of Texas B4. Also, try to visit the USS Lexington aircraft carrier museum in Corprus Christi! It is awesome!

  • Mainly, I'll be at a hotel most of the time because last year in St. Louis, the hotel was a few hundred feet from the Amtrak station. But this year, it's mile and a half from S.A.'s station. But hey, I will go to the Texas State Railroad; my first and last time there.

  • SWEET! Get lots of footage for us, OK Brian?! :)

  • Did you get your lines yet?

  • Yeah. But I'm a little busy with school and all. BUT, school will be out THIS THURSDAY! So I'll get them to you by almost this weekend.

  • O.K. Just wondering? I thought the email didnt get sent to you and there was a problem.

  • One more thing. Cmon! You get out of school earlier!?!

  • That how things are in Tennessee. When do you get out?

  • June 12 sine we added extra days because we had one day of snow day, and 2 days because it was below 0. Yep, I live in Wisconsin, really cold in the Winter, but hot in the summer. But June 8 is the last day for me becuase I'm going to South Dakota and going to ride on the Black hill train.

  • Cool. I'm going to San Antonio the day before!

  • I went on the Mid South Live Steamers website and in a couple pics I saw a teenage kid. Brian, is that you?

  • Long hair, one pic red and one white shirt, etc.

  • No. I have short hair, and I had the N&W 611 & 1218 on my pure white shirt. So, no. That's not me.

  • Charming.

  • I found a good site to order a steam loco.

livesteamlocomotives. com They even come with pre-assembled chassis and boiler.

  • I've seen that site b4! I like their 2-8-0!

  • I might actually start saving for a Rail Systems SW7 and the Rail Systems engineer flatcar with an added seat. (the gray one, with the optiional 2nd seat.) $7179!!! or $9026 if the SW7 had the 16 hp engine.

  • Hey Brian, have ya ever operated a locomotive in 7 and 1/4 or 7 and 1/2" gauge? As you know, I have.

  • BTW- $7179 is cheap for a live whatever train!

  • No I haven't.

  • It is an AMAZING experience! Ridin' behind the loco, blowing the horn or whistle, it is a neat expreience.

  • The train I was running had the CGW diesel, 8 freight cars, and a caboose!

  • How long can you make those trains?

  • A typical 7 and 1/2" gauge steamer, a year or so. A typical 7 and 1/2" gauge diesel, about a month.

  • Oh wait, I didn't get your question. Actually, I've seen a train with 3 steamers and about 100 cars!

  • 7 and 1/2" gauge!!!

  • I've actually run a 7 and 1/2" gauge diesel like the one at 2:13. Same gauge as here, but it was a Chicago Great Western diesel in Le Seuer, Minnesota.

  • Cool. I'm planning on getting myself an SW1500 from Rail Systems to run at the park.

  • In future, I want either a live steam Mikado or a Santa Fe B23-7.

  • Or some live steamer, but the Santa Fe B23-7 is what I want in a diesel, or something with ATSF's yellow and blue scheme.

  • some of those engines actually sound standard guage. Wish I was there

  • Yeah. But there is another track like this near the Museum of Transportation. You know, where the 1522 lives.

  • I know, I've been there.

I plan to get me some sort of 7' 12" live steamer. but they costaplente.
