  • Looking into short shots for my Iron, was told my stealership that they rest lower than stock and are more prone to scrapes. What are your thoughts?

  • @Mistermaimon in my experience the foot peg scrapes before i even think about leaning that deep into a turn

  • Do you notice any improved ground clearance over the stock system?

  • You might have an answer for me. I assume you installed the pipes yourself-would you say it was fairly simple to do? I'm tempted to install them myself, that's why I ask.

  • @funknando007 it was pretty simple to install, I just had to buy snapring pliers at Lowes, other than that just a standard tool set. I used plastic wrap to protect the heat shields from scratching.. put on passenger pegs in between swapping the pipes otherwise it is tough to work around and not scratch anything

  • @lanceoa thanks!

  • @lanceoa it sounds really really good!!! i am gonna bye my forty eight in a month. my question is how much kilometres do i must have before changing the pipes and the air cleaner? some people said 5000 km. do you agree?

    thanx guy

  • Do these have the quiet baffles?

  • @Krashdavus I don't think so.. they sound like thunder right outta the box.. my Xoom video sounds much bettter

  • Is it just me or anybody noticed any difference?? Coz I didn't ...

  • In your opinion are these pipes "too"much in the way of noise? Or are they more "moderate?"

  • @artsbest1 the pipes are moderate in my opinion.. if you go to the dealer on the weekend.. you'll see that the larger bikes with pipes are much louder.. your neighbor might think they are more than moderate though

  • Nice bike bro......Am getting 1 also and am thinking of getting the V&H pipe also. Will it be ok if i just change the pipe and still use the stock A/C? thanks

  • @chicks229 yes, stock air cleaner is good, I just wanted the joker machine for style, gd luck w the purchase

  • @lanceoa do i need to install a fuelpak or remap again with the stock A/C?

  • I just ordered the same pipes in chrome for my 08 FXD, along with a new airchargers, gotta get a race tuner installed, and possibly remap it, i cant wait to hear it.

  • @Danfoodmoe as far as bang for your buck.... the pipes were the best upgrade I have done on the bike!

  • I have a XL 2007 Sportster with the same pipes than your and it sounds incredible, it has stage one complete upgrade with high flow air filter and it runs really good...

    Greetings from Mexico city...

  • bad ass fuckin pipes man

  • What's that nice pouch bear the rear tire under the bike? Where did you get? I also have these short shots on my 08 Nightster. Nothing's better, but it's right, you should slow down to 800 rpm, the engine takes no risk and the sound will be tons better!

  • @SupremeMusiciann its a Licks Solo Bag... pricey and doesn't hold much... but fits the bike perfectly

  • das hört sich ja alles recht merkwürdig an. Da macht ja sogar mein Bosch Staubsauger nen geileren Sound, als dieser Roller mit der V&H Anlage. Ja so ein Scheißdreck, die totale Lachplatte.

  • nice garage

  • @bengalballa rust-o-leum epoxy is pretty cool and they will mix up colors for you

  • nice video

  • I have short shots for my 1200 and cant wait till they get put on. Nice sound nikon done good

  • sounds too high idle to me ....mine is just badadam ...da ...ba .....bada ...daaam etc .....zzzzzzzzzz!

  • Did you add a power commander? Any changes to air filter? Thanks.

  • Thank you for your good video about HD 48 exhaust pipes very nice to compared both, good help to choice.

    From a French guy!!

    Thank you again.

  • Did you not have to tune your bike?

The harley store said I'd have to get the $250 tune if I got pipes!! =/

  • @Syrius187 They had me do a fuel remap, it cost me just over a $100 bucks, they said it runs lean on the stockers. they didnt say anything when they sold em to me, just when I came back.

  • @Syrius187 I just ordered the same pipes for my fxd, (in chrome) and an aircharger, and the shop said it will need the race tuner, and the dyno tune possibly

  • hey man very nice bike im also looking at getting 1 myself just wondering where you ordered the short shots pipes from any help will be greatly appreciated

  • @TriggerHappi98 got em from my dealer, Folsom HD. Your dealer can probably get em, or at least know where to... they were $459 before discount+ tax

  • Sounds good.

  • ok cool i have put everything on now and i purchased a fuel pac and dialed it all in my self. the dealer told me that that would be fine. question though. are you getting backfire on decelaration?

  • i just got my shorty pipes. do i have to have the fuel mapped now or after i put the new stage 1 aircleaner on?can i ride with the pipes and the stock air cleaner without a fuel pack or taking it to harley?

  • @dsmith34057 i swapped both out and showed the dealer. He recommended i do the fuel remap since with the stock pipes it runs lean. They'll adjust the juice to match the pipes. Apparently, they just look up your specific components on the program and it dials you right in. At least that was what i got out of it.

  • Yeah. I thought to keep it simple and slightly old school-ish. Actually, the air cleaner was a pretty simple install. Half hour tops.

  • Very Great Vid. You just convinced me to get this mufflers. So you just changed the mufflers and nothing else? Does the breather kit make them sound louder? Some guy at Harley told me that if I get this mufflers it could void my bike's warranty. I have not heard anything about 600 miles before adding the mufflers. That's new to me. Thanks for answeing my questions. Awsome Bike!!!

  • @ConjuntoBoy Well changed the pipes and right after changed the air cleaner. I think there are more performance oriented breathers but I like the style of the one I have on. I will give up that for a bit of style. I dont think this will void the warranty, especially since I bought the pipes through them. They'll even install em, if you wanna pay em

  • @lanceoa I agree with the style of the air cleaner. It gives it that retro look yet still sporty. Is it difficult to put the air cleaner?

  • The Vans ans hines were made for that bike. They just sound awesome and complete the whole package. Do you like that seat or are you gonna swap it with the spring one? congrats you have a beautiful bike...i'm saving up for mine still...:(

  • @silviesoul111 I dig the stock seat, its staying for now. That springer swap is expensive and I dont know how that will ride. Also, Im pretty short so I need to keep it low, the springer seems to raise it a bit.

  • night and F_ckin day man, even with the shitty mic on that camera i can hear the pop way more. V&H it is for my 48! tell me, is it easy to install these short shots? are they bolt off bolt on? or are there mods I need to do that require a professional install?

  • @ProveItProductions thx for the comment, yeah camera mic sucks. Fairly easy to install w a half decent toolset. If i can do it, u can. Wrap the heat shields w clear wrap to prevent scratches during install

  • All bolt on

  • Great bike, but get rid of those AWFUL graphics on the tank.... wtf.......

  • hey did you add baffels and a fuel pack and up grade your air intake on your bike when changing your pipes out.

  • hey can you do a video of you ripping down the street with the short shots?

  • Wow! that's a nice garage. Did you do the floors yourself? Can't wait till I get my 48 same Black color.

  • @debac88 thanks.. i had a good time doing the floors.. a perfect home for my 48.. congrats on ur soon to be 48

  • Is the part # for the pipes 47219?

  • @SlickDick73 sorry, ordered em at the dealership, not a Harley part # but they can get em

  • thanks man! that is a awesome bike man i really like it. i will be doing the same thing.thanks again

  • Nice, lance.... I guess I better get a damn 'movie camera' to post my bike....

but my bike is 'tricked' out like yours (i.e. the V&H Short Shots)....the only exception is... the smoke lenses on the front signals....

On another note...I do, like the idea of removing those 'reflectors' w/ fishing line...I will try that..

thanks for the updates.... I love my '48' !!! Soon, I'll get some 'pics' up of mine....then again, I may be able to use my cell phone camera? anway,

    later ...Dave

  • very nice looking pipes on your bike... it surely makes it safer in the traffic, but as you'll see its not very pleasant for the rider on longer trips :[

do i see some white smoke when you rev it? is it brand new? :D

  • @durox Hmm.. didnt really see smoke.. it is new tho

  • Awesome comparison between the two.

    Here's to you!

  • i got my forty eight 2 weeks ago. my first motorcycle. i love it, but the stock pipes are way too quiet for me. do you notice any difference in performance after the vance & hines pipes?

  • @gnarlytothemax for sure I do.. more power for sure and definitely more safe, cars hear you coming

  • @gnarlytothemax get the fuel remapped, it runs lean with the stock pipes, so they'll adjust the juice to match the pipes.

  • Very nice !!!! I can't wait till I get my 48 !!! Hopefully this summer but your bike is looking very pretty .,.....

  • Looks good. Invest in some ear plugs or a full face helmet. My V&H's make my ears ring after about 30 minutes on the road...LOL

  • Hey, cool pipes!

  • This is so cool how you are showing us the difference between the two. The VH look sweet and sound better too. Doesn't even sound like a sporty anymore. Did you re-map when you installed them with the Joker kit? Were did you get those from BTW? My buddy has 2010 nighty with side shots and the SE Heavy Breather and it sounds killer.

  • @TESTOSTERTONE didnt do the remap yet, want to put 1k on it as recommended by HD. I'm gonna do the Joker Machine air cleaner maybe this afternoon, ordered it straight from the manufacturer. Got the pipes from HD, they had to order them. Thx for watching and look for a couple more vids in the coming weeks
